Reputation System to weed out Bad Players

I've seen a bunch of posts on ninjas and players that need/steal loot for companions on PUGs

I think the perfect solution to this is to implement a rep system. Similar to what xbox live uses. So if you run into someone that ninja loots or someone who is need rolling on companion loot, you can rate them.

That rating then would be able to be seen as part of their profile. So if you're in a PUG or about to join another you could see what they're rated. If they're rated low, you can move on and cut out the drama that will eventually happen.

Also it'd give real consequences for bad in game behavior to help curtail it.

I think the biggest reason we keep running into these types of players (that really ruin in game experiences) is because there are no consequences for their actions. Giving them a reputation table that they themselves have to worry about (because they'll be shunned and kept out of guilds/groups) would be a quick and easy way to do it.

What are your thoughts?

This would be abused from day one.

It would need to be vetted, because after one raid and someone is an idiot, you could have a terrible rep, these things only really work once you have a good average.

it is also open to abuse, if guild mates all rate their idiots.
I can't brain today...I have the dumb

Well I think if you only get one vote per player. So you can't vote over and over again, just to be a jerk and rate someone low. That it couldn't really be abused.

Plus if you can change your one vote, so eventually if you try to run with them and they've changed you can modify what you gave them, that'd help too.

Also maybe a % overall, so if you've grouped with 100 diff players on your lvl 25 it'll give an overall % for their experiences with you. It'd help eliminate the one offs of having someone go rogue and just rating bad because they want to cause havoc.

We could also make it so you have to be near the person and having their player icon up, so you're not just randomly rating people on general chat, or have it so you would have had to complete a mission/FP with them before you can rate.

One last thing you could do is have it as an actual preference that you have to go into the menu and actually turn on. So people that don't care, won't have it up or vote. Kind of keeping it to a smaller community that would actually use it to help team with people that they'd want to group with

This would turn all interaction with anyone not in your Raid Team/Rated PvP Team into a popularity contest

People's "reputation" would too often be determined by someone going "i hate republican" in General Chat, and recieving +9001 Reputation Votes, regardless of weather he's a halfway decent player, or ninja loots

the very people you want to eliminate would turn this system on its ear and become an even bigger pain in the ***.

Image how mad you would be if I was being rude a whole run, ninja looting and then come to find out I gave YOU a bad review? What now? start up a endless line of petitions to get it all turned back because, everyone knows, the MMO player is never wrong.

I say give us a few more Gorg's to go around and tell people when they are stupid. I hope I never do anything to be on the receiving end of it, but I love when BW takes a loudmouth to task.
