sorry... you're just not winning any points.

reroll on a high pop pvp server. by the time you get to 50 there will be more people at 50. win win.
Ref: my sig.

Even low server pops are the fault of the players left on those servers! /facepalm.

My server was Full pop when I joined it. It hasn't gone above "standard" in two days that I've seen. How is that my fault, being one of the people actually still playing the game?

Good advice. We should apply this to politics. Let's all ignore SOPA until it becomes a problem. We'll just let it pass and then worry about it when tons of websites get taken down instantaneously for copyright infringement accusations.

So pvp should be treated as such, it should give you nice things, exclusive things, to show off your prowess in pvp, but there is no reason to have a separate gear treadmill to climb when all it results in is such unbalances.

The current bolster system, will make a well geared level 30 fairly equivalent to a well but non pvp geared level 50. The bolster system 'fixes' the problem of an all-level bracket well enough (pre 20 is can be difficult for some classess, and it could use some tweaking, but it works reasonably well)

Fixing the problem in as few changes as possible is always the best solution, and this problem could be fixed by just removing the pvp stat. The long term balance would not be effected since long term everyone will have the pvp gear and be 50. It will however fix the short term balance, allowing them to keep the all level bracket open, and thus not have to split the warzones into level brackets.
I understand that SWTOR is not a PvP game, noted as much in my last post actually but like pretty much all mainstream MMOs at this point PvP is presented as a viable playstyle for those who enjoy it. You can play this game doing basically nothing but PvPing, it wouldn't be fun (imo) but one could do it, and might enjoy it. The valor level system alone suggests that BW intends PvP to be a viable playstyle for people as does Ilum there are zones dedicated to PvP (even on PvE servers) so perhaps it is the developer's feeling that the rewards granted for PvP should be meaningful for those kinds of players.

The challenge that led to the creation of expertise (imo) is the same Raid gear problem that has come up in countless other games with the same development ideology (ie gear grinds). Essentially when asking why expertise has to exist, one need look no further than the time honored battle between Raiders and PvPers.

The bolster system is not enough to resolve the gear disparity issue, this is not purely a problem of expertise but expertise does contribute heavily to the problem. Fortunately through creating a separate bracket for 50s rather than removing expertise two potential issues are resolved.

1) Leveling PCs do not have to compete with end game geared PCs
2) End game PCs have some sort of progression to look forward to in both PvP and PvE

It works exactly the same way? You queue, you get other people in your group. If you didnt play any other MMO that ruined their community this way, its hard to understand perhaps. But when you get to play with the same people, meet the same people, its alot more fun. You can make a name of yourself by standing out, making premades that everyone is afraid of etc etc. If you cross-server all this is gone, since you wont recognise 90% of the people you face anymore.

The lack of server forums for this game is something i dont understand, i think thats something which is 100% needed to build a good, healthy server.

god forbid you're one of the people who rerolled from a pop-capped server, per their suggestion, on a low pop server.

too high pop? reroll!. oh.. too low pop now? reroll!

adding subforums would be considerably easier than linking up servers for pvp too, i'd imagine.

I'm starting to think that killing community is a Bioware priority. somewhere in the board room :

"***!.. who the hell made SWTOR a MMO?! we are bioware, and we do single player games! someone must answer for this. implement plans to kill the community IMMEDIATELY!"
I feel the exact same way, and the feeling is so bizzare I feel like I entered the twilight zone in regards to seeing what they did and did not do with this game and are not doing for thefuture, such as wanting a community,,,
Bioware quotes- "Twilight owns" "QUEL HORREUR" "JAMES JOYCE SUCKS" "DEAL WITH IT" "BUTTON AWESOME" "It was a bug" "expect increased fidelity" "Some people are just haters"

Put guard on some lvl 15 who keeps getting ganged up on because hes a lowbie... protection medals out the arse!

I've gotta make the choice every huttball... if it looks like we have a change to win, play to win, if not, guard as many people as i can, and try to steal KB's with vicious throw so I actually get something out of the game.

Off hand, do you only get protection credit for damage Guard mitigates? Or do you get credit when you taunt people too?

Agreed, but if you roll PVE you have less standing to complain about a lack of PVP.

Hmm complaining about PVP on a PVE server? Perhaps you should roll on a PVP server? I'm in Helm of Gruash and it's a non-stop PVP roller coaster. I love it. IF you want to PVP you should have rolled on a PVP server, go raid or something on your PVE server.

OR

Perhaps you should have expected that on a game that has just come out I would say an overwhelming % of the population is not 50 yet and as such high end level pvp will be slow on a PVE server for quite awhile.

OR Perhaps wait it out for cross-server PVP.

I am on a PVP server and my queue pops in less than 1 min usually. On the weekends it is insta click.

If this is truly an issue or becomes one after the changes then moving to a pvp server is the ideal option.

FYI PVE servers will always have a lower PVP population... I would think that would be obvious. And if not I would think the description during server selection would have helped.
