Man back when I was on WoW forums, I wish everyone were so positive. Anyone singing praises will get shouted down and branded as fanboi.

No joke! I agree with "Get rid of the levels"!

Eve and UO where successful with out it and I don't know why every game insists on them... ok I understand why... reward....but Levels are a lazy why to make players feel the achieved something.

Exactly why they need to do something different than just what WOW already does.

I agree with that!

But right now they do the same just...not as fun... and more time consuming.... and less rewarding.

And it's a shame imho because this game has potential... not as a wow killer... nothing can kill wow... only time but there is room for more great mmos and it will be good for the market.

But because they try to copy wow and do a bad job with that they fall into mediocrity and die silently.

I really hope that this will not happen here but Bioware has to step up a notch!

The Voice acting is Good to Very good with a couple of "Mehs" thrown in in some of the side quests. Yea I have seen my character say "I am a Jedi, its what i'm trained to do!" quite a few times now, but only in the side quests and seeing as though these quests are meant to be replied to be up to 8 people, it that adds up.

You really think Mass Effect was the best third person game out if you ignored all the story? Hell fu*king no did it do really REALLY well? Yes! Yes Mass Effect doesn't have a sub fee but Bioware have already announced another Planet coming out ffs and its just under 3 weeks since release.

I understand that this is like WoW in a combat and movement sense but its successful and its easy people like games that are easy to learn.

In short:
1. WoW's "Story" is w*nk, the only good thing is when Blizzard release a new FMV with a new Raid instance.

2. WoW's Combat is like moving in slow-motion compared to SWTOR.

3. The same bosses are reskinned, I swear to god how many Dragon Bosses did you have to dps the side of the belly? Fail. (No I haven't done Death Wing I got bored about 3 months into Cata, Not long after i'd done my Cata Loremaster to be honest), Hopefully Bioware won't fall into this trap.

4. Blizzard is raking in the cash over WoW why not give it a graphics update like EvE online got? Yea SWTOR's aren't anything to write home about but they are way better than WoW's which is understandable given the time gap but still Blizzard has the money and resources to upgrade them.

WoW does do some things better but not all like you said.

The Auction House is way better, the moddable UI is really great, The social aspect like emotes and speech bubbles are a lot better ("Moo, You happy now?") and the fact that everyone is in the same fu*king instance of a World (I swear this is my only hate of SWTOR. Please get rid of the Dromund Kaas 1 & 2 instances etc). I would say WoW's PvP is better but then i'd be going back in time to when Alterac Valley was fun and didn't contain just 4 NPC 'bosses' and I use the term Bosses loosely.

I think this game can succeed it just needs Bioware to really get on top of the major bugs and reveal what is so bloody amazing about the future of Legacy.

Yup, I've been saying that for two years now. Don't know why people think a WoW clone will pull players from WoW, yet they continue to copy that game with every new MMO that comes out. It's sad really. Where's the inovation?

The need to deliver end game content that can compete with wow.

It does not matter if you hate or like wow. What they did right is to deliver a great variety of high level content that is more or less fun, easily accessible, has different degrees of time need to be rewarded.

- You can do 1-2h of dailys and get a reward quickly... but not to quickly... this way it stretches out the content
- You can raid with your guild or raid group... more time consuming but better rewards and less frustration factor
- you can raid via LFR... takes less time but less reward and possibly higher frustration
- you can run heroics... quick and easy
- Faction grind... time consuming, imho high frustration, little reward
- Pet collection... pure vanity factor
- Achievement's... very time consuming... no true reward

Not everyone likes all of these options but the options are there and they keep people busy and entertained enough to keep the subscription running.

TOR is seriously lacking in ALL options and that COULD hit them hard.

Also... why should I keep playing a game that only offers the same, just less polished as the game I played for years and that I know and I am comfy with and that offers more options?

Well I know the answer for myself but Bioware needs to answer it for all the other players that don't have the answer yet.

Rose colored glasses is what you have.

Dailies in WoW were not in launch. They are however in SWTOR.
There was 0 raids in Wow at Launch, MC was added a few months after release. SWTOR has 2 at launch.
LFR was just released in WoW.
There was no Heroics in WoW at release and only 2 modes now. SWTOR has 3 modes (Normal, Hard, Nightmare) more then WoW has currently.
Faction grinds are garbage. We have Social and Valor to compare.
Pet collection is also in SWTOR.
Achevements... Well we have the codex so finding all the lore, and we have Legacy which isn't finished yet.

SWTOR has more then WoW did at release and is on par with the other content WoW has right now.. minus the full scale raiding which it took WoW years to aquire.

This thread has gone viral and I'm at a loss to keep up with it, so I'm afraid my comments will go to the wind, but I'll make them anyway...

It's nice to wish for something as speculative as a sandbox environment to grow your character's story after level 50, but what specific tools and content would you have?

WoW just kept raising the level cap and adding bigger and brighter shiny objects, thus the equivalent of adding WD40 to the hamster wheel. How do you break out of that hamster wheel that is most of the MMO end game content?

In my opinion it revolves around having your actions and the actions of your guild/faction actually affect the environment of the galaxy, by discovering new worlds, and changing the face of the republic/empire. That dynamic nature has to be server independant, which causes chaos in many ways. So it really is a hard thing to wrap yourself around. In terms of MMOGs, DAoC did a fairly good job at addressing this issue. WoW ignored it in lieu of offering you a shiny new hamster wheel every few months. I would hope that the SWtOR development team finds value in building themeatic end game content. That will set the game apart from other MMOGs.

Have to agree with him. Really, this is their launch game. Where people start their character from scratch. The focus of the game is leveling, and that has been the case on every single MMORPG. End game are added later via patch / expansions where you continue your adventure. Even single players are like that these days. You have a game where you start from "New Game". DLCs and Expansion packs continues the journey from where you have left (reached max level, completed the campaign).
