I'd have to agree OP that you're missing something.

I have 35K right now at level 19, having already spent 5K on inventory slots, and probably 5+ K in buying schematics and running missions to get comps. I use my gathering skills for getting comps in the field, so I don't have slicing to make money either.

I'd have to say that I get most of my money by selling crap that mobs drop to vendors. I only use the GTN to sell my crafted items and the rare nice loot that I don't want/can't use.

Are you looting bodies? You didn't mention that.

I think you all are confused about what the OP is referring to. By skills I don't think they mean Crew Skills, I think they are talking about your class abilities. The class abilities do seem a tad high to me as well. Crew Skills are ok but if I were to train all my available abilities(from the smuggler trainer) I would be bankrupt. Not so much before level 25 but after you purchase your speeder+training its almost like you don't recover for awhile and you cant afford to train your class abilities if they are at 5-8k apiece. I could see them knocking ¼ to ½ off the cost of abilities between 25 and 45. I'm not all for an easy game though. The mount training needs to remain the same price and level.

I haven't trained since lvl 36 and I'm 43. The cost is too high and I do enough damage anyways. I'd rather put my money towards other things until I can just accumulate what appears to be about 200k more credits and then train.

This is largely what I do, but the only thing is the abilities keep stacking up and before you know it you'll keep adding more credits to that training allowance you need to pile up until you just have to go farm in lower areas until you have enough to train, or you hit end game at which point the abilities stop piling up giving you a massive opportunity to catch up.
Not arguing with you though, you did support my P.O.V. and I thank you for it...I think...lol.

Trust me it gets worse as you go but that why you hold on to junk and craft do missions other than your class quest. If you don't this will happen to anyone and doing space missions PvP helps you get boat loads of credits.

You must be doing something wrong. I've never been hurting for credits, and don't honestly see how that's possible. Even when I bought my speeder training and then levelled with two new class skills, at level 26, I had 10k credits within a couple of hours again. Right now I'm at level 35 and have well over 100k
