a week ago - Running a flashpoint the "tank" Juggernaut tries to explain to me that my tank specc'd Assassin is not a tank class. Then proceeds to wip on the boss 3 times. I take over and down him first try.

2 days ago - got a group put together for the Foundry. Healer wants to know "where's the tank?" ... "me... im tank" ... "uh... no youre not... assassins are DPS..." ... "bro, trust me.. i got this..." ... the healer BAILS!! lol.

*NEWSFLASH PEOPLE*

Assassins make damn fine tanks. Probably more so than the other classes if specc'd right. We have skills that put our armor rating at HIGHER levels than a comparably equipped Juggernaut.

You're wrong. The sorc was not hit, the following players were: Iaro, Tal'daine (who you are probably neglecting, considering the hit killed them), Scyth, Robear, and the individual obscured by the 6645 with <Centurion> tags.

Detail. Focus. Do it now.

PS: And Scyth is the only 50 I can discern, and it crit him for only 4.5k. Everyone else is quite low, I can attest to this being on Nyan's server.

Actually the armor levels aren't higher. The other tank in my guild is a powertech and with similar gear his armor is always higher. (his damage reduction is always about 5% or more higher than mine with comparable gear).

Where we really benefit is shielding with dark ward up. I have a 45% chance to shield right now (will be 50% when I get my 2 piece bonus) and when I do shield it absorbs about 40% of the damage.

Not to mention our passive healing from DC and overcharge saber as well as force shroud which is a pretty unique ability for a tank to have with a short CD.

We are very good tanks. I have encountered people like you described and they are all idiots. I think the misinformation may spread from low level assassins trying to tank heroic quests or black talon before they get dark charge. The other tank classes may not have many tank abilities prior to level 16, but they do have heavy armor already. Before we get dark charge we aren't really tanks at all.

This is what guardians have

Force stasis, 1 minute cooldown, 3 second channel, can be spec into to make it not channeled in the defense tree on the 5th tier of the defense tree. does really weak damage but builds us 3/4 focus

Force push, 1 minute cooldown(not really a "CC"), pushes "One" person but it doesn't push if they have 60% resolve bar

Awe, 1 minute cooldown, an 6 second blind but breaks on damage, can be specced in the dps tree to make it 45 seconds

Force leap "not really a CC" roots the person for 1 second, can be specced into to make it 3 seconds in the focus tree, can also be specced into the defense tree to stun for 2 seconds "WHICH raises up the resolve bar quite a bit which will make the other CC"s the guardian have useless if he does one more stun.

Mmm pretty much thats it.

Sorcs/sages

Aoe knock back with a long root specced into (short cooldown)

Single target stun

A talent that blinds everyone for 3 seconds called "Backlash" on the fourth tier of the lighting tree if you're bubble breaks"

A talent in the madness tree that allows you to do a instant whirlwind and if it breaks on damage, stuns the person for 2 seconds.

P.S. Just because you add "not really a CC" after a CC ability you have doesn't mean it's not a CC.

P.P.S. I don't know why people complain about sorcs/sages I don't find them to be much of a problem at all. They are so easy to counter... LoS OP.

Stop wasting your long cooldown abilities on one with force shroud up, I see people do this all the time to me.

Assassins are not OP and in fact have a pretty high skill cap IMO. We have to use many abilities in a fight to be effective as well as watch for procs and conditionals.

This is a simple case of you not understanding the mechanics of the class you are fighting against.

People defending a class from getting looked at by the devs. Check.

The person who plays the class calling the person bad who calls out a class too powerful. Check.

You realize that Sins/Shadow are tanks. Jugg/Guardians have more Defensive cds and higher base mitigation, PT/Van has better mitigation and better CC, Sins/Shadows have better single target damage and sprint but less base mitigation.

Three tanks all with a different strengths and weakness. Learn to love em

LoS? lolol THIS makes me laugh right here.

Ok, The sorc has FULL opening on you at the second/third door on voidstar, no where to hide and if you "DO" hide, they sprint up to you, knock you away from the LoS piller and dps you some more, can't run either cause they can sprint up to you (Low cooldown) Civil war? What LoS? On the side nodes, they have full view to attack you if they are on the platform, and if you run, they can sprint up to you to finish you off. THE only places where someone can have lots of "LoS" to hide from sorc/sages is on Huttball o wait
