Repeating the same old "WoW" mistakes with PvP....

This is not WoW, WoW almost entirely gear based. I am level 43 with lvl 40 blue gear and I PvP in warzones a lot every day and I top charts and win 1v1 against 50's with all champion gear. In this game the only way that champion gear will give them the edge is if they are equal in skill with me. This game has a great balance between gear and skill and the best PvP gear is easy to get.

Amy, lvl 50 Dps Commando

Also when you see someone with "PVP master sith lord" title you know this guy is really good if its 100% skill based.
100% skill based is not a mmorpg, its Counter-Strike 1.6

no online system in any game can ever truly be equal or 100% skill based.
player hardware and connection speed is the biggest contributing factor in any pvp situation
same as online FPS, if you lag you die. simples

remember that at launch WoW didnt have proper pvp
you had random world pvp and pvp servers but there were no battlegrounds or arena's

so enough with the WoW and guild wars stuff please

The problem is, in order for me to gear up, I have to be fighting people like you that have a gear advantage from using the highest tier gear. That is analogous to a fresh 50's only means of gearing up for PvE being clearing the highest tier Operations. Broken system is broken....

this argument is always pretty weak. as there really aren't that many impediments to attaining PvP gear.

the only problem with gear... overall is that it leads to massive QQ.

there should be a reward for playing more PvP than someone else. your dedication should pay out in being better suited at pvp than someone who just idily hops into a warfront.

that being said. what other system is there?

GW PvP wasn't much better. they're dynamic of skills shifted to their PVP flavor just resulted in gimmicky PvP builds. and several tried and true tactics for winning the battleground areas. and it was a constant... fotm vs gimmick build neutralization.

where's the skill in that?

there is skill. even someone in the best gear can be outplayed. the problem i see... more so than gear. is there really is no mechanism for teaching people PvP.

every mmo starts with a ridiculous training area. and has the same old... run around town to get to know where the stuff is type missions. to explain how to use abilities. and whatnot.

but nothing teaches people how to utilize the tactics that make people better PvPers. using cooldowns effectively. CC and CC mitigation. focus firing. positional combat. utilizing UI/keybinds or other efficiency type things. these are are personal responsibilities. to learn your class. learn what you counter. learn what counters you. learn the warfront maps... or strats. having guilds/teammates that communicate etc etc

these types of things are the things that make PvP. people good or bad at PvP gear... vs skill based games. vs other gimmicky notions of balance or level playing fields are all just veiled QQ

i'm 41 and I can say the exact same thing as you.

I can take on 50's with gear. A little thing called tactics can still out play someone who is all "LOLIHITHARD"

You expect your level 14 in greens to be competitive with a 50 in epics. And that is why you fail.

So lets do the same thing for PVE. See how it works out.

Give everyone free gear. Kill the boss. Get a mount.

Sounds awesome.
Honestly my personal experience will not change much if I stay and keep on playing this game for PVP.

The real problem comes later after an year or so when the PVP newbs want to play.

They have **** gear and will get slaughtered by bad players for a month while they grind for PVP gear.

One PVP game that comes to mind that had decent PVP that got ruined by gear based PVP was AOC.

IF you had full PVP gear you could solo BBQPWN like 3 fresh max leveled characters.

Guess what happened next? 0 new pvp player inflow and AOC was focused somewhat heavily in PVP and now pretty much no one plays AOC.

WOW on the other hand somewhat fixed this problem by making lower grade PVP equipment more easily obtainable, but seriously who plays WOW for PVP these days?

Try finding a decent sized WOW guild that focuses on PVP rofl.

1. Calling people trolls because they don't agree with you.
2. Personal Attacks.
3. Ignoring the content of peoples post and responding with a strawman.

What's next? Are you going to take my response and edit it?

I think we are done here.

To the OP, ideas are always nice ofc and i have played guild wars for 7 years since release, and that is exactly the reason pvp got boring, there was nothing to aim for in it really other than a title, which took the first person to max it 7 years of HA to get it. Too much, there was no goal at all in the pvp there, you could say the emote you get per certain ranks but then the same people will give up because its too far away. pvp here is still 'skill based' if your not so good at pvp here then do more of it and get better like you would in other things, its not like your losing anything for losing in pvp and winning some and losing some is all part of pvp, thats how it is and how it will always be so get use to it.

Gear is all part of the mmo genre, its something players want to achieve, removing gear defeats the purpose of mmorpg. Its like saying you expect everything to be on a plate for you, you have to earn it. On top of that the pvp isnt great right now they do need brackets to aid in the balancing but the gear isnt the problem.

Also in reply to one of your own replies, you said 'I WANT'. So your entire OP is about you and not everyone wants the same as you.

Another one who was born yesterday and don't know yet that ALL mmos are about gear...

Go play MOBAs or shooters if you want competition with skill only.
