Let expertise go? Do you guys not even understand that stat?

If they're were not expertise, people doing operations would be facerolling you even more. At least with the expertise gear, the pvp community has a chance.

Expertise shouldn't exist, i agree. I don't care how you get your gear, it should be skills > gear. In vanilla wow i wrecked aq/naxx geared people with my rank 8 geared toon simply because i knew what i was doing. Resilience was added as a band-aid by blizzard because some butthurt duelers outside orgrimmar and ironforge got their *** handed to them by some very few people that did hardcore pve and had pvp skills.

Making the PvP aspect of the game gear based only serves to make pvp just another grind. Get more gear in order to be more effective, and so to gain more gear. I fail to see the fun in that. In vanilla wow i took care of the bare necessities, and for the rest i was free to do whatever i wanted. BGs, world pvp, the odd dungeon run, i was covered. Blizzard then inflated gear, which led to some strange big damage output of some classes, and their band-aid solution was resilience. It wasn't a clever system like Guild Wars have, where if a skills is deemed too OP it gets a pve version and a pvp version. It was the same crappy "gear" solution. "Resilience will fix it" was still a running joke in WoW when i left it a couple of months ago.

Some of you are arguing that pve and pvp need to be separated, i disagree. I did both aspects of the game in whatever mmos i played, and they kind of break even. Gaining gear through PvP is somewhat linear, and you're slowly but surely advancing towards your goal. Gaining gear through PvE is more of a gamble, it requires more involvement and you'll be probably competing with others for it. Skill caps may differ in the pve vs. pvp game, but the outcome is still the same.

What i don't really get is why, of all the good ideas out there, BW had to copy wow's crappy system. Here i was thinking BW had the balls to break the decade old formulas and come up with their own system. This isn't the age of grinding, people. I think we all outgrew that. Too much grind will kill a game, that's why we're here and not in a korean mmo. But this dependency on gear will lead to grinding. They had this awesome idea with datacrons, why not make use of that ? Why not make +expertise datacrons that require a challenge to reach ?

I don't know, perhaps my beef with pvp gear is that high-end pvp gear looks absolutely HORRIFIC for some classes, and i'm better off with moddable gear. The least thing they could do is sell pvp mods or something. Nice way to crap over good ideas. Meh, screw it.

Pvp in this game is clunky as hell and it's not really worth it anyway. Another "real men of genius" stroke, copy wow mechanics without their fluidity and responsiveness. Wait for an animation to finish in order to cast the next ability ? pfft.

anyway, rant over, props to the OP and to the people that see beyond gear. Hint: 200+ hours more play time than some random dude already has its own reward: EXPERIENCE. Leave it at that.

I have played a lot of pve and pvp in wow since end of vanilla and in my opinion has there never been a serious gear or stat problem in pvp there. Except armor penetration(stupidly overpowered).
Even if I in TBC I did lots of pvp with my druid to get arena gear as it was the best tanking gear for bears.....
The main problem has always been balancing classes in pvp with very little success.
Nerf this, boost that, and all affecting many classes/speccs to be totally useless in pve.

I have not played wow lately as I got enough of it and stopped playing it some months ago.
So I don't know how it is there now.

The easiest way to balance pvp/pve is by having some abilities impossible to use or nerfed in pvp. And if there is needed a special stat for pvp, it is much better it follows your pvp points and not on the gear itself.

Bioware should have learned from Guild Wars: Everyone has easy access to same level gear -> PvP is about skill, not gear.

Instead of adding a pvp stat in mmos developers should instead make pvp and pve provide same rewards, thus making people able to do both aspects of end game the way they want to.

LOL Made me smile good there.

Very good point... arguing for PvP stats is pretty funny in itself. "I don't want that dirty PvE player to beat me!.... "

It is almost laughable right. Those of us that PvP a ton understand the game mechanics, we are not going to get beat by players that PvP for a couple matches here and there. Of course if our gear allows us to wreak them in seconds while taking no real dmg... it completely cheapens the win for me at least... and those PvE players don't que and we all get to play Hutt ball Over and Over and Over again.

I don't expect Expertise will change either... I'll have my full set like every other monkey. Doesn't mean I have to like wearing the PvP uniform... and Knowing I will only be PvPing with my other hardcore PvP friends... cause my PvE friends won't come close to PvP...

The thing with PvP stats is they get exaggerated by the community in general. 6 Months from now PvE people will tell new players "Don't bother with the PvP in this game... unless you have 4 months to grind gear by dying hard in every match you enter too grind the gear because it gives everyone super powers." lol
It might not be 100% true but the effect will be the same... the PvP community locks in too a post launch pop 4 or 5 months from now... and slowly looses people over 2 or 3 years... until Bio hardly bothers updating PvP content anymore.

I don't say I hate the idea of Expertise because I suck at PvP... or I want to be able to que once a day ect ect... its because I want NEW players to que... I want to face them in semi even odds... (My thousands of hours of general PvP experience... faster reflexes... better knowledge of this game... and wise gear and build Decisions... Will mean I will still Wreck them hard. They simply won't wine about my gear afterwards.

To sum it up I want my Tears feed too me in a pure form. lol

I agree with this. The endgame gear should be the same no matter how it's earned/used.
"Probably just another drill."

I would love to see that implemented. That seems like an interesting idea.

I kind of agree with the OP, there is no need for a pvp only stat. They only thing that is needed is for top end pvp gear to = raid gear. The reason wow added resilience is because people decked out in top end raid gear were blowing people up in pvp, if wow had just made the top end pvp gear = top end raid gear then both side would have been happy (you get your gear your way and I will get mine my way ).

AMEN to the brother thes what i'am talking about we dont need a pvp only stats what we need is a CHOISE IF I DONT WANT TO RAID EVERYDAY CUZ I MY BE BORE LET ME PVP AND GET GEAR SAME LEVEL US RAID GEAR SO I CAN RAID IF I WANT TO OR PVP IF I WANT TO

Sorry to say this

Put i wish to god we had STAR WARS GALAXIES GEAR SYSTEM where every gear is good for everything not only good for pve put not for pvp or good for pvp and not for pve

and Crafters made the best gear or close to the best so raider gear and pvp gear can still do good

Totally agree, 100%. I couldn't agree more. HATE the PVP crutch that is a PVP stat.

I'd FAR rather see Expertise as a PVE damage/heal/damage reduction boost stat for flashpoint/operation's only. So raid gear has a +10/20/30 boost to for raid content only. Then PVP gear and everything else can still give you raid like stats but without that extra boost that you'd get in PVE.

I have zero idea how hard that is for MMO developers to work out.
I know chop-knees.
