The more gear a PvE'er gets, the faster the boss dies, or the more mistakes they are afforded throughout the fight.

Just like PvP. You can competently PvP at level 50 (with other 50's) with the blue PvP "starter" set. You will be come more proficient with the Centurion gear and be afforded "more mistakes." Yet again things will become easier and go more smoothly with Champion's Gear and finally you will be at the pinnacle (Nightmare) level with Battlemasters.

Good players will succeed regardless of gear level. Yes, abilities, amount of gear, use of stims, relics, and other buffs improves throughput, and makes you survive longer and hit harder. However, at level 50, the playing field should be balanced enough that a 50 in blue Expertise gear can compete against a 50 in Battlemaster gear.

Hope that makes sense.
The blue 50 pvp set has been removed.

Let me explain how it works...

PvP Tier 1 - Centurion: This gear is obtained through commendations you get as rewards for PvP dailies & weeklies. Through gathering this Tier 1, you have a small chance at getting a few Tier 2 (Champion) pieces as well.

PvP Tier 2 - Champion: This gear is obtained through commendations you get as rewards for PvP dailies & weeklies @ level 60 valor. Through gathering this Tier 2, you have a small chance at getting a few Tier 3 (Battlemaster) pieces as well. Also, you can spend commendations to get Tier 3 ear pieces & implants.

PvP Tier 3 - Battlemaster: This gear is only going to be obtained by the most dedicated PvP'ers. It is the rarest set to obtain and will only be obtained through RNG and months of grinding. You may be valor rank 100 before you finish your Battlemaster tier.

^--- This system works, but it takes time just as most things should in an mmo-rpg. People just want instant gratification. MMORPG's & Instant gratification are almost polar opposites. The problem is, people will never buy into this system because they'll constantly whine & unsubscribe to the point where the game can no longer be developed further without catering to casuals and impatient people.

I know this will not quell anyone's rage over not being given everything in the few hours of play they can afford to spend due to them having such an important life where video games mean so little yet so much at the same time - but I think people who are complaining about the system need to see the bigger picture and realize that they are killing the game for the people who truly love the game. People who don't care about rewards and people who have put a lot of effort to get the rewards that they have - Those are the people these games are made for... Unfortunately, mmo-rpg's are morphed into something entirely different once all the selfish players start whining. And if they aren't morphed into something different, the people who truly love the game are left without a game to play - or at least left without future content for the game they love to play.
Thank you for that insightful explanation of how the system works. I am sure all of us here were totally in the dark and confused as to how to obtain the gear.

Really?

If that is the progression we must follow, then stop dropping Champion items from bags and increase amount of commendations.

The problem people have is not of difficulty at obtaining the set. It is that this system rewards lucky and effort means jack *****. You could log in once a day, complete daily Illum only to get 1 bag, open it, and if you're one of the lucky ones, get your entire set in a short while with minimal effort.

You could also be one of the unlucky ones who works their butt off every day to get more bags, and get absolutely nothing or get 4+ duplicate items that are useless and are vendor trash.

The only people supporting this system are those who do not have dedication to reach higher ranks and are OK with receiving free gifts while putting in minimal effort. To them, when they get Champion, it is an added bonus, because they knew they would not reach rank required for Champion Commendations any time soon anyway.

RNG and PvP Gear do not play well together, and that's that.

The system is stupid and rewards luck. It is a bad system. GG.

Everything is earnt. You ALWAYS get the centurion tokens. So if you keep working, you WILL get a full set.

Once you hit 60 valor... you WILL get champion tokens. Its guaranteed. So you WILL get that gear eventually.

Its not instant gratification. Its a bit of luck, yes. But the only thing that is truely random is Battle-Master gear. Not Champion.

And champion is more than good enough to compete with battle-master gear until your luck catches up.

Come on BW... like *** is up with that ****. Is it that hard to implement something, where the game can figure out **** you've already unlocked so you dont waste your time like this. Ive chatted with numerous people that have had the same problem and are entirely frustrated by this bull ****. Huttball was fine and dandy the first few 100 times, but damn i cant even get a proper return for all the work ive put in playing that **** to death...

This seriously needs a fix and quick.
The problem dont stop there, same goes for PVP bags. I purchase one, open one and get a lightsaber or willpower light armour piece. I vendor it right away since I am a Bounty Hunter and the item in question is green = no chance to sell on GTN.

After 12 empty bags (100 games?) in a row I stopped to go to warzones. Because if I'd really wanted to fight without appropriate pixel rewards - just for pointless "fun" a.k.a. "time wasting" - there is much more exciting PvP in Modern Warfare - and it doesn't cost $15/month.

For $15/month there should be something more substantial than pointless tokens or duplicated items.

The system sucks if you go by effort. AT 800 wz coms for a chamion bag and 3 centurion coms in a bag your looking at about 140 matches for a centurion armor piece and thats assuming you can average 75 wz coms a match.

The bags should only contain tokens and no random gear that would solve everything because now someone can be crazy lucky and be full geared in 2-3 days and someone else can farm the bag's for 1 month and get nothing i know people who got 5 different items in a row and people who opened 30 bags and got nothing at all this isnt right no crying just pointing out an unfair system.
