And how, exactly, do you see the game in it's death throes 2 weeks after official release?

Or do you mean the irritated PvPers will cry and quit once they gear up? If so, no loss, that's maybe 10% of the population if ALL of them quit

It's a PvE game. Deal with it. Arenas sucked and xserver killed WoW. It didn't do much to help Rift, either

As to the x-server point, no we do not need anything that brings players together from other servers. The best competition is fostered by rivalries that you can constantly do battle against and with players you have a connection with...and the best place to find that competition is own your server.
im guessing you never had experince with ranks or ladder look at wow and starcraft there ques are fast and you get to fight agaisnt the whole of america which gives you knowledge against everyone instead of dueling all day against your buddies thats not competetion that's not even rivalry

How is it not? You have no proof that there isn't competition present or rivalry.

Yeah, I have no interest in those types games or turning this one into such. Which is why I disagree with most of what you are asking for. Though I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a ladder type set up as I mentioned in my initial post. Just as long as the devs keep class balance issues separated from those that just do ladder stuff.

SWTOR was never designed to attract competitive pvp players which is why this thread is full of pvp carebears who think there is a server community in a game with 3 lame warzones.

Ranking systems build a far stronger community because the top teams and players get a lot of recognition. Nobody cares if you are the best team on server xyz since chances are you are not up against top tier competition.

They just want to anonymously grind tokens with nothing on the line and never be put in a position where a loss will actually mean something.
A Ranking system weakens the community overall, take WoW for example, at any given time in their ladder system I'd put money on 50% of the highest rank teams have either exploited or straight up hacked their way there. All a ladder or arena system does is degrade accual PvP play, developers would spend more time monitoring the teams and players than spending the effort correcting any honest balance issues.
I will reach my field of battle at any means at my disposal, and when I get there I will arrive violently, no one will deny me, no one will defy me.

IMO Arena pvp is the furthest you could be from real pvp, real pvp is finding people out in the open and ganking them to start a big brawl or something like that, Open world PvP is real pvp, not battleground or warzones, but those sure come closer to real pvp than arena nonsense.

So you fight against all those other servers and somehow remember the name of every single opponent, do you? You remember what guilds are PvP guilds to worry about and what ones are PvErs just messing around in PvP?

And why is it single-server PvP is limited to dueling? Have I been dreaming PvP these past three weeks? Huttball, Voidstar, Civil War? I suppose the names of some of the players and guilds on my server that I know are much better PvPers than I am are wrong too, huh? I shouldn't respect them or avoid them (depending what side I'm playing) when I see them, eh?

No, no rivalry there at all. I'm just losing my mind. Carry on!
