You said there was nothing to Professions other than gold.

You were wrong.

If you want to talk about incoherent, go read one of your broken *** posts with barely fathomable english.

Give me some sort of proof that Professions were put into WoW for the sole reason of making gold. I bet you can't.

Rift really does suck sausage. From the boring almost plagueristic quests to the uninspired drab/dull armor. From the recycled models beginning at level 1 haunting you through the ridden on rails experience to 48. I would say 50 but you have to grind out 2 levels in Rift.

Ember Isles was the only thing they've done right and even that was wrong on many levels.

If you're into grinding Rift is fantastic... Every aspect of progression revolves around grinding. Not only grinding but grinds that take literally months-years to finish.

The main thing about Rift is their security or lack there of. They've been hacked twice. The first time it took a player going public with a news site to get Trion to respond/acknowledge it. Recently they had their entire password, email, account, CC, etc... database stolen. So now all our info is in the hands of many hackers posted on websites worldwide.

Here here!

It may not be "all that' these days in the wake of TOr, but RIFT is a "smaller" company and to this day still works hard on improving the game.

IMHO, while their spec/class system is cool, I still think they shot themselves in the foot. Everyone is at endgame and there is little incentive to 'start over' . The game's namesake features fall apart if nobody is there, i.e newbie zones.

So now, their efforts must focus on the players at endgame.

it's a shame sure,..but RIFT is just one in a series of Hacks,..PSN, Lotro,...etc,..TOR WILL be hacked one day too,...it's only a matter of time,....the biggest trees always attract those with axes.

@op : I mostly agree with you points except 2 (wasn't aware of it) and 7 (there is a LOT of content. Sure you can rush it but it's still heaps of content anyway).

Don't let people enamoured with swtor because it's the shiny new thing discourage you.
Most will realize how valid your points are soon enough.

In fact the problems you listed are not so much annoying as the lack of understanding from BW. That's why I'm beginning to doubt they'll ever fix these issues.
Ex. : Georg Zeller talking about dual spec and saying they don't want to allow people to change spec during a flashpoint or operation... ***??!!

Having played Mass Effect 1 & 2 recently (and greatly enjoying it, though ME1 UI was a pain that they fixed in ME2) I feel SWTOR is Mass Effect with the Star wars IP and pieces of multiplayer here and there.
It's not an MMO right from the start and I don't know if they'll be able to ever overcome the single player bias.

If your stating the obvious, then by definition you're not stating things that players are unaware of. And if what your stating is obvious, why clutter the forum with it?

I really like the dialog and I'm glad they have put it. Yes sometimes it gets to much but I prefer that to nothing or only some like in AoC.

I've never played a mmo that I like 100%, but hey, there is a lot of different ppl out there and having all the difference in a mmo is great. I have friends who pvp and we can talk about the game and even play together (in some games) even though I don't pvp (much)

I'm a mmo hopper also, I usually don't stay very long in one mmo. But that is hardly the mmos fault. Don't get me wrong, I do complain if there are things I don't like, but I'm not particular loyal to any game. Wish I was, I soooo need a game addiction.

I think the game world need something new now, let's hope that GW2 can bring us that. Their developers did, after all, give us both GW1 and WoW.

OP good luck

Apparently the OP hasn't played Rift. It will be a good thing if this game ends up like Rift because Rift is doing very good right now. Rift has changed in big ways since launch, in a good way. So before you compare a game to something you have never played or know anything about, go play that game first then do the comparison. Rift is too good to be compared with SW: TOR. Rift is working on redoing the whole reanimation system for its game. Will SW; TOR ever do that? No likely. Your thread fails

To me, MMOs, at least the few decent ones out there, are like different ethnicity restaurants. Regardless of how good a particular one is, it's still not going to be to everyone's liking.

By that I mean, let's take the example of a restaurant featuring Mexican cuisine.

People hear good things about it so they decide to give it a try. Results:

Person A (has eaten their before and loves the place) - might be a few dishes on the menu that don't appeal to them but has plenty more that they think this is the best place to get it. Raves about the place to all their friends. Doesn't mind when the restaurant changes up the menu from time to time. Infrequently makes suggestions along the lines of "<Item Z> is pretty great but this minor change would make it over the top!"

Person B (loves Mexican food, gotten bored with other local Mexican restaurants, trying place for first time) - finds the food pretty good. Plans on returning on a regular basis. Makes some suggestions to management about some minor tweaks to recipes or menu that they think would make it better than the competition.

Person C (loves different local Mexican restaurant, trying this one for first time) - finds food okay, couple things they like but don't see much to make it stand out as better than their favorite place. Suggests to management they should do X,Y & Z just like their competition and likely won't be back until they do.

Person D (not really a fan of Mexican food. Primarily a burger/steak kind of person) - Tries the place because friends say it's so good. Looks at menu, doesn't see anything that resembles something they like to eat at the places they normally frequent. Gives management a hard time because they don't even have a simple freakin' burger & fries item on menu. Decides to try something, eats a few bites and tells friends "SEE?! I told you I wouldn't like this. Food is horrible. I won't be coming back and can't understand why you would."

Person E (restaurant critic) - Even though secretly the chimichangas they were served is some of the best they've ever had, only says moderately nice things about those and finds fault with every other little thing about the place because that's simply the (allegedly) cool thing that critics do.

I have played rift and have a lvl 50 cleric, and rift is not doing good right now with all servers at LOW population and medium at maximum.

Why because there's not 7 million+ playing it?

I played rift i just didn't enjoy it but i'm far from saying that its not a successful MMO!
