It isn't. Stop expecting it to be.

This is SWTOR and its GTN kiosk work fine.

Short of a few characterization tweaks (such as Armor ... heavy ... Chest/Leggings/etc instead of Armor ... Heavy ... Rarity) there's no need for all these huge changes you people are talking about needing to 'FIX YOUR GAMEBREAKING AH BUGS'.

This isn't an auction house and it isn't WoW.

If you can't handle that uninstall SWTOR and go back to WoW.

The epic whining of all the WoW-bies is quickly giving SWTOR a bad name and it isn't justified.
Its clear that you completely misunderstood what this is about and have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
Calling people wow-babies for wanting a more user friendly GTN, is just stupid.

Its not about players expecting it to be wow like, it has to do with making it USER FRIENDLY.
I played several MMOs, LOTRO, WOW, AOC, STO and never seen and AH system so complex as this.

If I want to find something I first have to know the general category of the item, then a more specified category before I can even think of searching.
If I only know the name of the item I'm looking for, but not what category it is under, I have to search through every single category to find it, and even then I cant be sure if there are items like it posted or not because I could easily have missed something.

Its not just WOW that has a more user friendly AH, but every single MMO I have seen.
Regardless of what they call it in the game, call it whatever you want it is basically the same in every game, a place for players to buy and sell items.

I suggest you stop trolling and at least TRY to understand what it is that are being asked for.

Lots of great points.

I'd add, if you're going to do all this categorized searching, let us search by stat, because, for ex, if you're a heavy armor user you either want strength or aim, and the opposing stat type is utterly useless to you. Right now you have to filter thru all of the pices via hover to find stuff you can use out of often pages and pages of results.

The GTN is symptomatic of many game features and implimentations, in that, they are designed as if they are new, but they're not, they're things that have been in the genre and have evolved for years. BioWare implimented them in the rawest/simplest forms instead of looking at how these features evolved to be vastly superior and user friendly in the bigger/more successful MMORPGs.

So we have this horrific GTN (designer should be fired), the worst stack splitting ever, pitiful bank behavior, no ability to return stuff to vendors within a reasonable time frame for full (whatever currency) refund, NBG rolls from 10 years ago instead of limited to use, 2 fixed windows max open at a time in UI, crew skill window you have to scroll once you have all companions even thought the window itself isn't that large and this makes no sense, and on and on.

Is the only one I disagree with since I don't care about auction style and always set fixed prices on what I sell. Auctions are for the clueless (no idea what price to set) and for speculators (hoping to poach poorly priced items from the clueless).
Failure to enforce the naming policy on RP servers is one reason I'm semi-retired from TOR. It's a sign that BW doesn't care about quality.

The auctioneer mod from wow is where the developers could learn all of the features needed to produce an awesome auction house system.

Just copy auctioneer and the GTN would rock.

I would argue that the GTN should be considered a high priority fix because the trade game is a very important part of the mmo experience for many players.

I am a huge fan of SWTOR, but you have to be nutz to say the current auction system is acceptable.

I do a good deal of crafting, and many of the things I make could have earned me a nice profit.
But because of the unusually complex way the GTN is set up I find it frustrating to even try and sell anything because I have no idea what the going price are for the items.

There are so many ways this could have been done better, just look at WOW, LOTRO, AOC, STO just to mention a few.
There is no need to have a system this complex, it just makes players not want to use it and the economy suffers as a result.

I sincerely hope that BW will listen to their players and fix this at their earliest opportunity.

Say you need some materials for crafting, or a bunch of enhancements to upgrade your armour in a big bang when you have the cash, why can't you place an order on the AH for what you want. Specify the type, quantity and your offer price then whoever gets there first gets your readies. You'll have to put the offer price + commission in escrow for the sale. Then you have an auction house that handle supply and demand. Once the sale is complete, you get the items posted to you, just like a regular buy and you can pick them up from the nearest mailbox. If your offer is too low, no-one's going to bother and you get your cash back minus the commission. It'd be a real boost to crafters too - you have a guaranteed sale there waiting for you, rather than sticking stuff on the AH on the off-chance someone wants to buy (and can find) your crafted gear.

You could extend that to a dutch auction concept as well - place your order, a duration for the auction and a max price then the suppliers compete to provide the goods at the lowest price. When the auction expires, the lowest bidder with the goods wins the sale. This one's slightly trickier as it requires that the sellers put their gear in escrow until the sale's complete but they get it back if they lose and and can sell it elsewhere or wait for another customer.

Oh and if you're a supplier on the dutch auction and you get undercut, you get an email telling you that it's happened and what the lowest current bid is so you can decide to withdraw or submit at a new, lower price.

this is something that should have been fixed during Beta, I can't have been the only one pointing this flaw out during testing!

BIOWARE - since nobody has actually asked the straight question yet.........

IS ANYONE FROM YOUR COMPANY ACTUALLY READING THIS???????

a simple 'hello we are taking on board your comments and will assess the AH situation shortly' reply would be the least you could do?

I am not interested in your opinions. Please point me to statements or documentation from EA/BW that supports your statements, or you are both trolling.
