Expertise is needed to compensate for gear inflation that will surely come with PvE pieces having 700 str/willpower/aim etc...etc...

You cannot simply remove it because it doesn't make sense to you. Many MMOs have tried and failed without a PvP only stat.

Maybe if gear inflation is an issue there should be a PvE-only stat instead. It would make more sense, since there is an obvious effort to keep people together in PvP across all levels, but there is no need for having level 10s in theoretical PvE progression raiding.

I say theoretical because this doesn't really strike me as a game that's going to be as focused on world firsts and an infinite gear treadmill of seasons and tiers...

Actually I would like expertise on lowlevel gear, that way I could level my alt in pvp and only do classquest and stand a chance against higher levels that focus more on pve.

So you want to permanently break level 50 PvP for the sake of lowbies instead of just bracketing it off?

95% of these expertise tears wouldn't exist if the brackets were 10-49, which I'd be willing to bet Bioware will implement within a few weeks now that there is a sizeable population of 50s.

Something is quite hilarious about whining about the Expertise system in this game..

Since it's very tame..

The difference between a Rank 1 vs a Rank 8 in Rift was 40%..

That's not counting the 2k HP they get extra, plus all the other stats..

They eventually got smart and made all PvP give the same valor (since it's there to have PVE and PVP separated)

and easy fix for this right now in SWTOR is to simply go back and add Expertise to the other lower level gear PVP sets.. the one at 20 and one at 40 basically.

Wouldn't help the nubs currently whining about it, but it'd remove one of the many excuses they currently have.

In Age of Conan, PvE gear became better then PvP gear. What then happened was everyone spent hundreds of hours grinding PvE to get an advantage in PvP. It ruined the game for every purely PvP minded player, and it ruined Funcoms attempt to kickstart the heart of AoC when hardcore PvP servers were introduced because everyone was just farming PvE nonstop to get the competitive advantage instead of actually PvPing (despite all the other incentives to fight players such as money and loot on killing someone).

No, the gear at the moment is fine if not great. PvP gear should be better for PvP, worse for PvE, and PvE gear should be better for PvE, worse for PvP.

Screw the gap of low levels and high levels in warzones. It will always be there anyway due to high levels having more abilities, talents and CC. There's better solutions to the problem than nerfing PvP gear.

And no, I do not have a character with full champion gear.

Expertise is a good way to differentiate PvP gear from PvE gear.

Ideally both top PvP and PvE gear should be equal in PvP, but PvP gear shouldn't be an equal alternative to PvE gear in PvE. I know this sounds mad but bare with me, it makes sense.

The people that want to PvP shouldn't and wouldn't have to PvE to get their PvP gear.
The people that prefer PvE wouldn't be at a disadvantage when they want to do casual PvP, skill would be the deciding factor, not gear (amagad that's crazy I know)

PvE is a different beast. You're expected to progress trough content in a given path gaining gear better suited to harder encounters, it's the equivalent of skill in PvP.

What I'm trying to say is:

Here's an example (numbers taken out of my arse) - PvP gear should have 10% less "damage" stats, but compliment that with expertise which would increase damage done to players by said 10%. You could still be doing PvE with it if you'd like to but deal 10% less damage than someone geared for PvE (which isn't a huge deal really).

The huge mess we're currently seeing could have been avoided if expertise was present on the 20 and 40 PvP gear and in similar amounts to the 50 gear. Too bad that is not the case and Bioware decided to simply make PvP gear an "I win button" when you're facing anyone but other 50's in PvP gear.

No thanks. This would crucify PVP only guilds who have no such need to run the same flash points over and over and over.

The stat was added simply because PVE gear should never be on par with PVP gear. That's why they have two different names. Should a Jedi or Sith be able to run around with a scatter gun? No. How about a Trooper with healing, force run, force push and shock.

If you want to be pvp useful do pvp. if you want to be PVE useful do PVE. If you want to do both then hats off to you for being so dedicated. But don't try and mess with us PVP only guys thanks.

Expertise is simply there so you don't have such a huge advantage on us because we don't like that aspect of the game.

Also: The PVP 20/40 Gear is to strong or pve/craftables are to weak. I was doing level 40 Quest and found so much gear that was not useful because at 40 I just bought the PVP gear. I am now 49 and still haven't found a single better PVE gear drop, this is gamebreaking for classes that craft items.
