DAoC, hands down. 500 person thid battles raging for 2-3 hours. Unbelievable. I see all these people saying WAR, if you guys though WAR was good you probably would have loved DAoC. WAR is just a really really watered down version of it.

I have never really been into ranked pvp as I play for fun and I haven't played a lot of MMO's but..

World of Warcraft.. This is based on actually playing it though.
Not the games, balance or lack of world PVP.
But to actually play WoW. (Game Engine)

I have only played the following though:

WoW, SWTOR (duh), Warhammer, LOTR, RIFT, and some free games.
"can you make sword in box light sword so sword come out when opened? then if sword is back after sword, use light saber on box, and saber will be boxed after sword is out." Love it!

I shudder when I say this, but WoW - ONLY because of its responsiveness. It's not that balanced - but every other game I've ever played is about as balanced as Fat Albert on a jungle Jim.
while(horse.State == dead)
{
horse.beat();
}

well tough one...

not in any specific order...

PRE CU Star Wars Galaxies

Asherons Call

Pre Shrouded Isles Dark age of Camelot.

Star Wars The Old Republic <--- why? because they lived up to what they said.. story based questing and it has housing, crafting, and PVP...

I'd say Eve, Neocron and SWG had the best PVP systems because the economies were driven around them and crafters were the only ones to provide weapons etc for those to PVP with.

I dislike the token system and the tiered systems in PVP. I believe they're an easy fix for a lack of involving content at end game.

I've never understood why RVR has never been implemented properly since DAoC with just about every MMO since have only 2 opposing factions when 3 or more would make a huge difference to the whole scope of the games.

I had the most PvP fun in (no particular order):
AoC
DAoC
DCUO
Shadowbane
WoW (pre-BC)

I'm generally pleased with SWTOR, minus the PvP stat gear. We'll see how that pans out over the coming months.
