Ever asked why so many complaints?

It seems that almost anyone who shows dissatisfaction with the game is labeled a WoW kiddie, or a WoW fanboy or some other derogatory term involving WoW... I'd say that any WoW player, or former WoW player who is here playing SWTOR is doing so because they don't want to play WoW. They are most likely here because they were expecting SWTOR to be something fresh and new, something better than WoW. They are complaining because SWTOR has so far failed to meet their expectations. It has nothing to do with them being WoW fanboys...

I played WoW. I participated in the Stress Test Betas and I bought WoW the morning it was available at Best Buy. I played every expansion and I quit playing every expansion, bored to tears after level capping, gearing and raiding. Does that make me a WoW fanboy? Does that make me somehow less qualified to judge a new game than someone who has never been a serious MMO player?

I hope not. I wasn't new to MMO gaming when WoW came out. I had already played Everquest for a couple years, Shadowbane for a couple years... I had played Anarchy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Diablo 2 and numerous FPS and RTS games. I've played Guild Wars, Everquest II, Age of Conan, Lord of the Rings Online, Aion, Rift, EVE Online... Hell, when I was a teenager I used to play online games on a 286 IBM compatible with a 1200bd modem connected to WWIV and MajorBBS software, awesome sci-fi, fantasy and adventure games with up to 32 people. We used to meet at a local pizza place every Thursday night to get to know eachother.

Suffice it to say, I think I've played enough games to know what I like and what I don't like. I think I'm qualified to determine whether I have a better and smoother playing experience in one game than I do in another game. I'm not impatient. But I'm not easily impressed, either. This game has some cool elements to it, but it also has a lot of bugs. In addition to the bugs, though, it's missing a lot of depth to it, a lot of little things that make for a smoother, better, more enjoyable experience.

SWTOR was released too early, and because of that we are playing an unfinished game. If you are so enamored of SWTOR that you don't care, that's fine. But don't act like it is the peak of gaming perfection. Don't be arrogant and act like your opinion is the only one that matters because you didn't play WoW, or have no other gaming experience. And don't tell me to go back to WoW, because I'd rather poke my eyeballs out.

Oh, by the way, WoW is NOT Pandaland... it has been out for 7 years and Pandaria won't be introduced for at least another year... it didn't make it's name, nor become that largest, best-selling MMO in history because of Pandas.

a seasoned MMO player, and this generally means WoW

Oxymoron. A seasoned MMO player has more than one under his belt and at least 2 of them very different MMOs.

A 6 yr WoW player just starting his second MMO is a noob that doesn't know it and that's the worst kind. These people annoy me with their assumptions and expectations. They appear to be about 80% of the population here.....

OP, listen close, that line of yours that I quoted..... THAT is the number one problem with this this community and it seeps into every aspect of every conversation on this forum.

It's always a fair assumption that they've played Guild Wars, Runescape, EVE Online, Rift, Age of Conan, etc. I've played all these, as well as most FPS games released in the past 18 years. I consider myself something of an expert when it comes to actually playing PC games.

But for the more simple MMO, they aren't that old, and hence an MMO veteran can be perceived as anyone who's played WoW for upwards of 3 years, plus and combination of 2 other MMO games.

This is a term invented by me to separate the 12 yr old kids who have played WoW since Cataclysm, from those with a critical eye.

Flame me all you want, but the truths the truth.
Eve was here before WOW and has more subscribers now than it did 5 years ago. Just keeps going.

WoW is terrible game can't undestand the people who play it so long.

Not flaming just correcting

More like c**p in the forum litter box. Gen Discussions on most forums are like that.

I'm amazed at how many people cannot be bothered to read the dev tracker.

Yep, numbers does not a great thing make. It is simple and easy to play and popular had a great word of mouth marketing and is a CASH cow. Successful absolutely fun absolutely not for the other millions that don't play it.

No matter what I try, I just can't make heads or tails of your "sentence".

In other words: "Huh??"
In plain english: There are no more complaints on here than there are in the general discussion area of the WoW forums.

Before insulting someone, read the other posts in this thread. Particularly the one where I state that a veteran MMO player is someone who has played not only WoW for upwards of 3 years, but also 2 plus MMO games. I also state how I played most games that came out before WoW, including other Blizzard games which were also highly popular (Diablo and Starcraft series). However, a 6 yr WoW player has an incredibly decent view of what makes and breaks an MMO. If they're playing WoW after 6 years, there's a damn good reason for it.

Random person who replied, listen close: Insulting someone without bothering to read past the first post....THAT is the number one problem with this community and it seeps into every aspect of every conversation on this forum. I.E, too many ******s.

WOW was the only MMO in the market? I am pretty sure there are Ultima Online, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, Final Fantasy 11, Lineage and Guild War.
