I have all advanced settings turn on (forced on) in nvidia settings. Do not have them set to allow application. The game both runs better and looks way better. All textures everywhere are more crisp and especially reflections and lighting on surfaces.

Swtor in game settings are horrible and do not let it manage your graphics settings. Forcing all advanced settings with newer cards will improve performance by at least 10 fps and make the game look far better.

I would be that the vast majority of players right now aren't even seeing the game to it's full potential simply because they have no clue how to maximize their video quality and performance.
And how exactly, do you enable Hi-Res textures in your nvidia control panel, seeing as this is a confirmed bug that the swtor client is only showing medium quality textures.

Oh, you confused manually setting your AA, SSAO, FXAO etc in your drivers, didnt you.

It is the game. High textures are not in the game. You cant "force" them on outside the game either. Bioware has already stated they are bugged and are working on a fix.

EVE Online smashes every other MMO to bits in the GFX department to be honest.

Now imagine space combat like this in SWTOR
EVE-Online: Thuul'Khalat (Veto. Corp)
SWTOR: Malakhan - Sith Marauder (Omerta Syndicate - Lord Calypho)

WOW: Retired Healadin - Cataaaaargh

Clearly you haven't looked at your character much outside of the cutscenes and character selection screen. A lot of the armor is noticeably blurrier ingame, especially some of the bounty hunter pieces and jedi robes - the worst ones look absolutely awful with extremely low LOD and no bump mapping on them.

If you really want to see the difference go to your ship, find the intercom button, angle your camera and character so that you can see both the button and the front side of your character, then press the button a few times and watch your armor switch back and forth between the "Medium" version you see ingame (with low LOD and no bump mapping) and the "High" version we see in cutscenes (with high LOD and proper bump mapping).

The worse the armor looks ingame the more noticeable the difference. Also other players (who use bulkier characters than I do) have pointed out that the larger your character's body is the worse the armors look as well due to the stretching of the textures aggrivating the already low LOD.

The problem isn't with our graphics cards or driver settings - this is a bug in the game which is preventing us from seeing the same high detail armor graphics we can already see in the cutscenes during regular gameplay.

Yes, most of the landscape graphics look fine, aside from the occasionally overly blurry rock texture, but a large selection of the armors DO NOT and there is nothing we can do on our ends to change that.
We all have our heroes. And when we watch them fall, we die inside...

The sooner they fix this the better because some of the armor looks absolutely horrendous in game because of the low resolution textures. In addition, the character preview window looks even worse so I cannot wait for them to fix both these issues.

That's all we want is for our armor textures to look like they do, as other as noted, when you click the intercom in your ship.

I think the thing which bugs me most is that the shadows look awful most of the time. On a GTX 580, they really shouldn't.

This has been bugging me at times as well.

The texturing on sniper rifles is currently using really low resolution images and every time I have a cutscene and I see my character I cringe to see the huge blurry gun on my back that has zero detail to it.

Have also noticed some really obvious low texturing issues with imperial uniforms on NPCs, namely around the rank/badges, where you can see that Bioware are trying to add a higher quality object on top of a placeholder low quality texture on the torso clothing, but it doesn't quite work and because the client is loading the lower resolution image for the badges anyway you end up with a really blurry cluster of colours with rather obvious seams.

Bioware gave an official response in my thread http://www.swtor.com/community/showt...t=91723&page=3. I will now refrain from bumping, as I see Bioware has referenced this issue in the 1.02 notes: "Graphics preferences in settings files are now consistent with actual settings in use."
