Then you can either point out their hypocrisy or silently giggle to yourself.
There was variation in SF level-design and gameplay and actually had challenge. That game is also 15 years old.

TOR Space Combat is a mindless clickspam mini-game.

Why can't they make something like this?

-Full exploration and travel options in your ship.
-Weapons/shield/engines energy management like the old games.
-Can pilot, or man the turrets
-Capital ship engagements with friends
-Heavy, lighter types of ships
-Guild capital ships for multi-guild pvp engagements, pve missions, etc. Members control navigation, gun batteries, engineering, etc.
-Smuggler actually....smuggles.....
-Joystick support - can't believe we don't even have that
-Single seat fighters

Things like these would be quite easy to do. It has been done almost two decades ago. Imagine the fun if you were hanging around, say, an asteroid field in your stealthy Imperial Agent vessel ready to attack lone pvp targets, or you and a few friends were leading an assault group of Trooper heavy assault shuttles against a rival guild's star destroyer? Awesome.

But we get Starfox.
Exactly this is what I want, but we get the bland on-rails shooter in stead.

Look. I don't despise the rails shooter or anything..... it just worries me greatly that this is the idea of space combat they seem to have. I want exactly what you mention here, even if it's free-flight I want something more interesting than just barraging ships with lasers and missiles. If they had this, the game would be sooooo fine. They could have the on-rails shooter as well, it's just that I'm sincerely worried that it's their idea of the future.

I think its fun. People played Space Invaders and thought it was rockin' back in the day. Space has a fun arcade and controlled cinematic pace to it that I really like.

If you want hardcore space economy and borderline stress go play eve or black prophecy. Star Wars games have always had a loose arcade feel to them.

Basicly this.
I did one space mission so far and it felt and looked like i was playing Starfox or something.

Space needs to be opened up more to explore and find uncharted planets and so on.

It's definitely fun.

More importantly, I enjoy the 15 minutes invested for roughly 40k exp, and few grand worth of credits for the dailies i currently can do.

Only criticism i have so far is that the second "space station" mission is exactly the same as the first, except the ships have shields, and things have more HP. Same flight path, same enemies popping out at same times, etc. That was a bit of a "really?" moment.

Past that, I love space combat. Great diversion, good dividends, for not that much time invested (which is a good formula for a mini game).

As for "free flight vs. On-rails". Meh ? I guess it just doesn't bug me much.

I enjoy space combat as well.. IT is a DAILY! enough said.. ever do wow dailies? they make u wanna punch your mom in the mouth.. So i find SWTOR's version of dailies so much better.. I care less if they ever take it off rails.. I believe they will one day and maybe even add pvp space combat.. I have faith in bioware.. They have done a good job so far.. I base this on the god aweful mind numbing experience of WOW's launch..

Well yeah, it's a minigame, kind of the point.

And you can hold down the button to keep firing continually, no need to click spam.

And no Nintendo game every released has been challenging, come on dude, it's Nintendo. Good games, but they're easy.

I must be one of the 10 people who hate space flight in this game. Not even as good as star fox on my N64. Don't mind me though if the kiddies like it and buy it , it is great for share holders. How many people do you know that don't enjoy a ride on a roller coaster. Weeeeeeeeee!!!

Only complaint I have is seeing the same 5-6 maps recycled. The amped difficulty is somewhat appreciated, but when you're 50 with artifacts on board, it tends to be trivial. Easy credits and experience nonetheless.
