Actually im very much liking the current Space Combat as a change to groundpounding.

But I would like to see Free flight, multiplayer missions, having other people on your ship as you travel, internal & external ship customization etc.
The Force will be with you, always.

SWG was the same way. Granted when JTL came up it was really worth the wait however when the game first launched there was a huge uproar about the fact people wanted more than simply a WoW clone with a star wars skin.
Not to be nit picky but WoW was released like a year and a half after SWG, after JTLS even. For even a few years after that nothing was compared to WoW since it wasn't the behemoth it is now. Also SWG back then and WoW could not be any different in style than they were.

JTLS was amazing. I'll never forget sitting in the space port a week before that expansion talking with some folk about what we were going to do when it came out. Some random dude walked in to the conversation just as the shuttle arrived and said he wanted to go to Alderaan. "Dude Alderan blew up." Someone told him. "WHAT!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" He yelled as he ran out of the space port. Missed the shuttle and everything. Perfect sell since those shuttles only ran every 10 minutes. Haha.

its not really space combat

I can't even control my own ship

its like I'm playing Time Crisis with the ability to barrel roll.
Ooh a new private message! False alarm. Just another infraction. Clicking is bad and you should feel bad.

I have come to enjoy the current space combat, it's a fun, well made diversion to the normal game. It's not cuz of how the game is people hate it.

They hate it because they expected space to be a bigger part of star wars and probably hoping that it would be something that "connected" planets more than just a cutscene when travelling from place to place. Dissapointed because they wanted more free roaming and some multiplayer space action aswell.

But who knows they say big plans, dare I think multiplayer in some way?

I love space, just sad there isn't enough of it, run of out space missions fast and the rewards for doing them without a mission aren't worth the effort

Protip: Get level 1 ship upgrades.
Umm... if anything people hate the space combat because it's WAY too easy.

You barely even have to aim. Don't have to know how to lead targets because you've got magical, guided lasers, you'll see the same missions re-named as you progress with just tougher ships, and the space combat, itself, is totally irrelevant to the game or your character. I think I've failed a mission a grand total of once on the first try, and that was because I had unequipped my upgrades somehow (still not sure how that happened.)

But hey, at least you can do a (unnecessary and useless) barrell roll!

SWG space content pwns TOR Space content end of story, hell even the space missions in rebel assault II were more entertaining / interesting to me, now TOR ground stuff, yeah no contest of course lol

who remembers the good old series rogue squadron (RS, RS II, RS III) for n64 & gc, now that was fun space combat

A funny experiment:

Find a friend who dislikes SWTOR space combat.

Randomly say "Dude, remember how awesome Star Fox combat was, I wish they'd make a similar style of rail flier."

Watch them likely go "Oh yeah man, I loved Star Fox, I miss that type of game."

Then you can either point out their hypocrisy or silently giggle to yourself.

It's a Dollar Store StarFox (a game made 15 years ago). It can't even compare to SF64, because that game was actually fun.
