While leveling I tanked all the instances while Vengance spec'd (even the lvl 50 normal mode FP's) and recently respecc'd and re-geard to Immortal for the Heroic's.

I noticed that in the Heroics Gear especially how much Defensive rating, shield absorption and shield rating you have make a massive difference to your survivability. As for aggro I cannot understand the aggro problems that so many people seem to have. I am able to charge in on the boss get the aggro and keep it. Occasionally the dps'ers in my group pull but by and large they are able to go full out on DPS.

Out of interest: What do you people use as main threat-builder?

I'm level 38 and recently tanked the Foundry. I had some serious issues with keeping the aggro off off our Assassin for some reason.

I'm disagreeing with the idea we have to mash 20 diff skills to keep aggro. I'll give an example of low lvl tanking. I feel this is where most people are at and then just extrapolating how it will be later.

Leap in
Slice or sweep. ( I get free slice wth talent)
Sunder. ( I get 2 focus and 2 sunder procs, talented)
Slash.
Reposte every oppurtunity. Above all else ( cheaper and more damage than sundrr, talented)
Use slice when your stance permits the focus to do so. Don't save for it.

Repeat. As you lvl and you worry more about getting rid of rage as apposed to building it, only sunder to refresh debuff.

Throw in whatever else you need necessary for the time. Shield....extra threat attacks when u get it...sweeps.....whatever the situation calls for.

I feel that standard rotation will keep anything securely on you. Lets try to help these folks intead of saying l2p or reroll.

Popular misinformation can hirt a class. Vanilla hunter anyone

Lol you must have skill problems or something...the Jugg is THE UNTIMATE tank...if you cant tank the big guys int he flashpoint your doing something wrong...why are you even stressing trash? and after you get your area taunt no worries there...oh and what about our cool downs added to the sonic shield you get...no damage mitagation problems there...I think maybe you are playing the wrong class...maybe you would be better as a dps

I have no trouble at all tanking with my Juggernaut (lvl46 atm).

Some pointers:
1: I never tank up normal mobs. I always send DPS to clear those out first (What I do is a do AE taunt and Smash for initial aggro then leave them for the DPS
2: If I face multiple elite ranged mobs I setup CC targets. If multiple elite melee mobs I just tank them both (if more we are back at CC targets).
3: I tell DPS who to kill and when

Compare this to WoW when I tanked there.
1: Pull
2: faceroll keyboard while DPS just AoE everything

Personally I like SWTOR tanking better (WoW was like that earlier)

Until a patch fixes this, Juggernaut's are not viable to tank Flashpoints at high levels. It seems as if Bioware missed something here; if you give a class heavy armour, it does not mean that he will hold aggro. Who knew?

Avoid like the plague.
I think you might just lack skill. No offense but I have been tanking in MMo's for years and I am very pleased with the mechanics overall of the build. There is always tweaking that needs done sure but overall I am very pleased. This is not WoW where all the mobs just stand 2 feet away from each other and you can just consecrate and be fine. Also if you are saying this and you are not level 50 with full perks and decent armor then you fail...

Pretty sure everyone here agrees Juggs can tank. It's just that all the other tanks are so much better at it that the only reason to play Juggs is for forum bragging rights.

The other problem being that both the DPS tree of the Juggs are also underperforming so you can't even switch to a good spec even if you wanted to. I'd say lvl a Assassin until Juggs get some needed buffs.

I don't think you play it like people think. You just cant stand there in front of a mob of six and swing away. You have to pix your fights and even sometimes let them be focused on vette while you attack from the back.

I had some trouble at first until I really learned the class which does take some time. Now however I love the class because I can take on about anything. I love being able to take my jugg in heroic levels alone and collect gear to sell. I have been able to gain credits and buy the epic armor for my jugg.

I think the Jugg is a great class to play.

Thats a problem right there ^

Alot of people say juggs is fine at tanking if you don't tank normals or let your companion take aggro. Well...a powertech can tank elites and normals at the same time...so where does that put juggs?
