They built it ground up to primarily facilitate these mass player numbers in one place and paid much less attention to making the world feel like a consistent place where people live, or to the writing or storytelling of the game.
I honestly remember barely anything about why we were supposed to do things in the game. It was very tacked-on. As for world-building, you won't find a single settlement in that game that compares to the cities and towns in TOR in scope, realism and interactivity.

Rift wasn't a bad game for it either. It had its focus on the gameplay above all and it's been very successful at it. They simply allocated their development resources to different things. The combat system is a lot of fun but I find TOR satisfies me very well in the same exact area that I felt Rift lacked.
It's all about priorities. TOR has been developed as a story driven immersive experience from the ground up, as opposed to Rift's approach with a pure focus on using the world to facilitate their combat system at the cost of everything else.

Their starting points and goals were very different and it shows in the end results. You just have to kind of live with this.
This is a thread about bugs and glitches in MMORPGs.. not opinions on which devs did a better job at story telling.. Bioware released a buggy mess and the Rift devs did a better job at that, period...

Over exaggeration post as usual. "riddle with bugs" how pathetic .... we must be playing different games.

There is a less than a second delay at heavy pvp times thats about it.... its still mcuh better than most mmos on release.

And people using the excuse that developers are lazy and know they can patch it later havnt got a clue what it takes to develope something like this.

What really saddens me is that this has become the accepted state. When it comes to games people act more like drug addicts than reasonable customers. Game companies can throw the weirdest stuff at customers like DRM and buggy games but in the end people just accept it instead of walking out with their money. This thread proves it once more.

Another child posting about dumb sh%t he doesn't know a thing about. Spoiled kid use to his parents serving him everything and has no clue about the real world.

These posts are sad. Funny is, when you don't care for something you move on. But now attention craved people have to get on and QQ and fill up forums with this kinda crap.

And freaks like op obviously take games waaaaay to seriously. And if $60 dollars has really upset you and set you back, probably means you shouldn't spent it in the first place. Or research what your buying. And if you had any clue about MMOs most of these issues aren't surprising.

And what were most people expecting for the release of SWTOR!? I was expecting and counting on 10x's more problems to happen launch month. In reality, it has been quite smooth for a release.

Why don't employees give more info....cause they don't have all the facts to give you. They have already stated they don't give ETA's cause people don't understand what the "e" in ETA stands for. And development plans can change on a second by second basis. So if they tell you something and it ends up not happening you'll be back here QQ'in.

I mean do you even know what it's like to work!? Much less to work for a corporation. These people are not gonna endanger their job to give you useless info that won't benefit you. They don't need to inform you of any development plans. If something's in the works you'll see it when it's released like the rest of us. And if you are informed about anything be happy cause they don't need to do it at all.

I don't really need to say much about the game to you, cause the release of a mmo and the future of it are pretty common sense. A MMO is something where a foundation is laid. After that the structure begins to be built over time.... You somehow expect something after 2 weeks of release lol, not to mention, I'm sure these people, just like the rest of us, get vacation and holiday time off.

If you don't like it just leave and move on. Go get the attention you so deeply grave from your parents. And if you are a adult....well that's just sad cause you certainly give off the impression your a delusional spoiled child.

People always forget about Rift's launch and how amazingly polished and bug-free that game was. Anything less is embarrassing and completely unacceptable. I enjoy this game, but I'm on the fence about it. On one hand, I want it to totally fail to show developers that launching a quality product is important (and to show all the idiot fanboys), but I'm also enjoying the game enough to want it to succeed.

As it turns out, I'm okay with either result, but a little part of me is still rooting for it to flop. If this game fails then every developer will realize that NOTHING, not even the Star Wars name, trumps giving your players a polished product.

I find the case you make to be nothing more than "I paid good money for this piece of software so it should be just like a toaster and perform every function perfectly to specification". Obviously you've never bought software before.

Go play Skyri- oh wait, that has bugs as well. Em, WoW maybe? No, still buggy. Have a look at using ANYTHING ELSE on your computer. Nope, still the same.

Hate to break it to you, software's buggy. Its complexity and audience makes for bad release testing. Get used to it or get a different hobby. I hear rock climbing is nice.

Just like how every failed software release has kept people from releasing buggy messes? This game is anything but a buggy mess. A lot of this bollocks is just people reading about bugs, blaming being bad at the game on that (ie. my class is broken, ability delay kills me in pvp, etc.) or just look for something to jump on and post. Failmongers exit here.
