Daily galactic command bonus removed?

Hey folks,

The team dug into the issue and it looks like the bonus did stop applying/rotating. Due to how it stopped, it will unfortunately remain off until Game Update 5.9.2 when we can fix it. Alongside 5.9.2 we will run the double XP event for 10 days to get some of that CXP back.

Apologies for any inconvenience. Thanks everyone.

Works for me :D

Any idea when you're thinking for 5.9.2 might be released? Is the 31st still the target?

Yeah, so about that, how did something that was working for months suddenly break?

They did backend maintenance just a few days ago, probably then. Most of these events seem to be based on the backend, so it wouldn't be too hard.

Eh, they've done patches and back end downtime maybe a hundred times since the concept of daily bonus was introduced with 5.0

Now, if what you're saying is true, that would imply that the actual activity isn't random at all, but scripted. They pre-program X days worth of activities into the software, and that list expires after date Y. Daily CXP bonus activity isn't an "event" the way Rakghoul Resurgence or Relics of the Gree or Bounty Contract Week is, nor is it like conquest, or a long term event like double CXP or Nar Shaddaa Nightlife or Life Day.

So, when they did back end maintenance a week ago they forgot to update date Y? Maybe, I mean human error because the system required human input may seem more plausible than the notion that code, which had been churning away fine for months, suddenly encountered a blue screen of death. Still, it seems a clunky way of doing it.

It just takes one guy tapping out one malformed SQL statement during back-end maintenance with their typical no-testing proviso to screw up...anything.

It doesnt have to be manually set up, it could be something as easy as the backend maintenance was cleaning up tables, and someone accidentally put an extra character in the daily_bonus_table somewhere while they were doing a spot check. Or they could have been changing variable names to make things more consistent across the board, and someone forgot to update every instance. Who knows, but coding, especially for something like this, is intricate and interconnected, so anytime there is literally any change whatsoever, the chance of something seemingly unrelated breaking is there.

And presumably they are doing something different every time they do backend maintenance, so having done it a lot and not breaking it before doesnt mean that they didnt this time or wont in the future.
