Hi, I know that when you press 'c' to bring up your character panel, it shows aim, strength etc and describes what they are used for. However, stats such as power, critical rating, absorb rating, and defense rating aren't described anywhere (or if they are, please point me in the right direction).

The only way I have found out what power does (it increases damage and healing to all abilities) was because I saw it described on a loading screen when playing the game.

Does anyone know what each of these extra stats do, is there somewhere I can find out?

If you hover your mouse over the stat and it will give you a brief description of what it is and what it is for.

It might be worth having a look at the class forums stickied threads to see which stats are important to you class though.

look under main stats, hover on ratings and in detail you'll see where is used which.

on the fly:

expertise - pvp bonus

power - dmg bonus

crit rating - higher crit chance

surge - higher crit dmg

alacricity - faster casting

glance - shield chance

defence - self explanatory

absorb - higher shielded dmg

They generally affect the stats shown at the bottom of the character window. Hovering over things like Damage, Defense, Crit etc will show a breakdown of what contributes to it.

To clarify a few off the top of my head:

Power: Increases damage/healing in a general way.

Force Power/Tech Power: Same as Power, but has a greater effect.

Alacrity: Casting Speed

Critical Rating: Increases chance of landing a critical hit.

Surge: Increases the damage dealt by a critical hit.

Defense Rating: Increases chance to avoid an attack.

Shield Rating: Increases chance of shield activating and absorbing an attack.

Absorb Rating: Increases the amount absorb when your shield activates.
