Add some BF3 ambient sounds. Then, we''re talking.

Would be nice to have some sort of atmosphere in a city. Like background conversation to make the city feel alive. Right now its dull, quiet and thump thump thump.

Wouldn''t hurt to add some random NPCs scripted to walk around randomly and talk to someone or just...you know, walk around.

But very few MMOs do this.

The worlds don''t feel alive, sadly. There are hardly any ambient noises, there''s no one bustling about, no one going about their business. They...just stand there doing nothing, not making a sound, not gesticulating, nothing.

The world feels so sterile, too scripted.

It''s saddening, and no it''s not about "I''ll cancel my account blabla".

I made a similar thread about this.

I believe the word you are looking for is:

Ambiance.

It is SEVERELY lacking in this game. I still think back on the feel of Galaxies and am sad that ToR doesn''t do that same thing.

I agree. The background of the game is just DEAD. Like if im questing i wanna turn on Music because i hear nothing but the fighting but then i have to turn it back off because of Random quest giver 27 to see if he actually had anything to say but never does >.<

And people saying there''s lots of people. Prophect of the 5 republic has about a total of 70 people on nar shadda. These planets are huge yet they split us into 2 instances y? and Then i log on my Empire BH and there''s like 4 instances of 80-110 People in it and still don''t see that many people walking around while questing. Much more than my main Jedi knight but not enough imo

I like the low ambience of the game. I love traversing through hostile territory with low sound and then hearing a massive explosion as some bounty hunter enters into a fight somewhere nearby.

Then when you enter into a big battle you get the classic symphonic Star Wars music.

I think it really helps set the mood of a space rpg. Sounds of technology, sounds of battle, and sounds of the locale are really all you need.

What sounds of locale? You could stand in the busiest part of Nar Shaddaa and it will be dead quiet.

James Brown cannot help you with Ambiance.

But, James Brown will be playing at the Star Shine Casino on Nar Shadaa.

That show will be Soul-Rrific!!!

Glad to know im not the only one, i dont wanna jump on the QQ i hate this game fix this fix that bandwagon, just throwing it our there really, apart from these small thigns im enjoying myself enough!

It''s Star wars after all....

I was gonna say. This EXACT post was made when Rift launched.

I can''t determine yet if it''s true to be honest. I''m enjoying myself, mainly because it''s NOT WoW or Rift, but that could wear off really soon.

I forsee myself having to buy a new keyboard in a week or two just replace my spacebar. That much I know.. Those poor voice actors and all that wasted time, for less than 10% of the population actually listening to the mumbo jumbo..

10%? It can''t be more than that can it? It''s totally a guess but then I have more hope in humanity and the abundance of common sense than should... hmph.

I think a majority are listening an getting involved in the story.

I can't see why anybody would get this game to "pass" on the story. It's Star Wars. One of the longest lasting franchises in history and people are just going to "herp derp" their way through the story?

Why play this game if Star Wars doesn't interest you?

The non-Star Wars fans absolutely destroyed SWG (along with a LOT of other things) by demanding Jedi, by asking for "battles from the movies" etc...a complete disrespect to fans.

I'd prefer they have zero influence over this game.

It doesn't mean you have to be a Star Wars fanatic but taking the story factor seriously and understanding story is part of the game is essential, imo.

I was going to make a thread with the same title but differant content.

But yeah. It has no soul or community. It's the sort of game people with play for a few months then leave untill new content is added.

yep, just cancelled my sub renew, will see if its worth subbing in a month. If not, will check back in a few months time, when they have finished the game to a point where it can be released properly. Feels half arsed so far.

Yep, sadly the game feels like a singleplayer game. I thought i bought an MMO but seems i was wrong. No reason to sub further than the starting month.

Guess it's worth the 60$ though for what it offers as a kotor3 game.

I must agree on some levels here, I am on Tryaus Academy or something like that, it is normally Very Heavy load at peak times. Despite the load rating, larger planets like Nar Shaddarr and Balmorra do feel kind of empty, which is a little depressing.

I miss SWG's crowds of people outside the spaceport's, made you feel like you were part of a community, here, you just feel like your playing a single player game. Some servers suffer with this more, low pop obviously, but I really don't see why two instances would be created for somewhere like Nar Shaddarr for a total of 80 people, leaving 40 on each, the map is huge!

agree with a lot of what was said above. I think it's a great game but there is that world ambiance missing. also agree about the numbers of players/instances.

Dumb question, can they "combine" instances? Or somehow not have instances so that we at least have a bunch of other folks around? Or is it built in to the engine?

More ambience would be nice; I brought this up in testing. You do realise that this will instantly spawn a load of threads of 'it's too noisy, all these NPCs are talking and making noise!'...

Instances are split precisely because of the number of players. That they are not right next to you doesn't mean they're not on the same planet doing something else. There's a count in the top left of the UI. This does mean that unfortunately sometimes some instances will be low on population simply because it's a new instance. You can always change instance to the busier ones if you desperately want lots of people around.

Seriously, is anyone else bored of the sounds of there own footsteps!?

NPCs standing around making annimations, but no sound!?

Yes the voice acting is amazing every 20 mins when u have a quest to turn in, but in between nothing.

Running around taris, nothing.

Down a street in Nar shadda, nothing....

Footsteps Footsteps......

Lack of players, quick with the multiple instances of the same area, it's boring......40 people in nar shadda 1 atm, 32 in Nar shadda 2.

HAVE U SEEN HOW BIG THE AREAS ARE!?

It makes no sense, you dont see anyone, except maybe in passing!?

No soul......please address this and pump some life into this game, 5 years in the making did anyone not think this!? not once?!

Apart from that! awesome game (dont screw it up plox) :p

i listen to James Brown when i play.. all the soul i need right there.

Good Gawggg!!!!

Then they should make the ambience less noisy :)

It doesn't have to be people having audible conversations - next time you're out somewhere in the real world listen to the "din", such as traffic in the distance, birds, wind/rain, background chatter of people talking, etc.

The only part of the OP's point I agree with is that some instanced areas seem unnecessary. I understand wanting to alleviate new players not having enough womp rats in the noob garden, but mid-game it is very sad.

Yeah no where seems to have much of a population. Handful of people milling around.

No, you can't "always" change instance as there is a 30 min cooldown preventing you from changing instances.
