The answer is: nobody actually knows, all we know for sure is that they originated on one of the core worlds and were enslaved and tranplanted to various other worlds by the Rakatan Infinate Empire. One reference mentions a planet called Notron from which they invaded Coruscant. The mainstream idea suggests the human species originated on some unknown Core world. I've seen reference in SWTOR that suggests humans originated on Tatooine along with the Sand People. The Wookieepedia mentions that Revan discovered this connection.
