Stat Balance - Parses

I uploaded some parses to TORParse using 4 different setups. Since I don't have enough gear to do precise 1-for-1 replacements, some of the setups have fluctuations in total stat budgets - particularly the last two builds where I'm trying to swap out accuracy for surge. However, I think the setups are close enough to provide a fair representation. I listed the parsed crit% along with the number of Hammer Shots used to give an indication of if it was a particularly lucky or unlucky parse.

These parses were all done on my ship dummy with raid buffs and a reusable stim. I wasn't going for max DPS here, but rather just trying to maintain a consistent rotation throughout all 4 setups to reduce the chances of human error. As such, I didn't use my clicky relic or my adrenal. I also limited my Reserve Powercell and Recharge Powercells to one use each throughout the 3 minute parse.

Keep in mind this is an incredibly small sample size. I only did three 3-minute parses with each setup. Hopefully other people can do similar testing and we can start to see some trends.

Tbh two things will always mean these results wont mean much.

Small sample size (realistically no one can do enough samples to make sure of any improvements/weakness)

RNG being far more influential on results than your stat changes

The way I did my stat checking was to do one long "good" parse.

List all damage in a spreadsheet

Adjust damage done according to power/crit chance and individual attack bonuses

Examine output changes as you increase/lower damage and crit.

What you will see very quickly is changing a handful of mods e.g. swapping 5 slots of power to crit will result in a miniscule difference. We're talking in the region of 0.05% damage.

I hope this is in like 63 gear, because it's incredibly low for a commando right now

Instead of being a condescending troll, why not try to contribute to the thread in some meaningful way? Thanks. ;-P

Hi Gryo. The whole point of starting this thread was in the hopes that others would post parses between varying gear setups. There's plenty of theory crafting out there but I haven't seen much in the way of actual testing, so I figured I'd try to contribute by starting it off with a few parses.

With regards to your methodology, are you talking about listing out each individual attack? I'm not sure what you mean when you say "adjust damage done...". If you could explain that methodology a bit more I'd be interested in looking into it.

You work it out for combined damage of each attack used.

For example:

Attack A has been used 45 times it has a tooltip damage of 1000, a crit rate of 25% and has a talent boost so it does 200% damage on crit

Attack B has been used 20 times, it has a tooltip damage of 450, a crit rate of 25% and does 170% damage on a crit

We know how many times each attack was used in our parse.

We know what the tooltip damage is because we can see it in game

We know what the crit rate is because we can see it in game

Same for surge, any talents and so on.

Knowing all that you can work out the damage being produced and the effects on it as you change mods.

For example, swapping 5 power for 5 crit mods will lower tooltip damage (update that number) and increase crit (update that too) but you'll still do the same number of attacks and you can see how that worked out.

Working out effects of armour vs your damage is something I do rather crudely and that's something you'll have to find your own way of simulating.

You don't really have to work it out vs armour, you can see increases and decreases before any armour reduction anyway using just straight tooltip damage. Just bear in mind that armour will lower damage from energy and kinetic attacks by a significant amount when you look at the output.
