Anyone know what to do on this one? I have a timer counting down and I need to be infected by a Rakhgoul. I've been infected numerous times and nothing happens, quest doesnt update and I have no idea what to do. The quest is vague to say the least.

The quest is notoriously buggy, because Rakghouls are douchebags.

 

You should be able to reset the quest and try it again, and try to make sure you fight a "Strong" Rakghoul (the ones in that area tend to have red skin, those worked 100% of the time for me when I've quested through Taris on 3 separate Republic characters).

Only the big red rakghouls will update the quest.

Have you used the "Reset Quest" option yet? If you have done that and it didn't work, then yes, you should abandon the quest and go back to the quest-giver and try again. You can also try logging off and on again between abandoning the quest and re-taking it, if that makes you feel better. This usually resolves the issue regardless.
