Here are my thoughts on Pazaak.

 

This is going to seem odd...but Disney already has a game that has gambling with card play in an online game, and it has a good interface.....Pirates of the Caribbean.

 

Simple interface, you sit down at a table with NPC players and a game in progress. You can join in on the next hand, and other players can join as well.

 

You gamble for in game currency.

 

I would love to see two things come to be with Pazaak.....

As Supreme Lord of the Sith, I find this idiotic obsession with these colorful cards to be a waste of Imperial time that could be well spent destroying the Jedi! As the Emperor's Wrath, I demand you all return to your duties, lest you discover what the Sith do with peons we consider to be dead weight.

I would love to see two things come to be with Pazaak.....

 

1) Add Pazaak tables on the floating barges near the travel points in Nar Shadaa. I would also put one in each canteena, each one with higher stakes than the last, depending on planet. The highest stakes games would be on the barges, the absolute high roller games in the Hutt casino on planet.

 

Players could join a Pazaak tournament in the Hutt Casino, and rankings would be displayed for players.

 

If your worried about the in game economy, use wups (wupiupi), trugs (trugut) and pegs (peggats) as currency instead and have them tradeable for special items on a hutt vendor.

 

STO has gambling using a Dom-Jot table and the currency is used for fluff items.

 

2) Add a pazaak game ability to our ships, where our companions sit down at the table and play the game with us...players would have the ability to come on our ship and join the game if you want. The stakes would be the lowest available.

It would also be nice to have a reputation vendor with unique items. Legacy achievements and mini quests like the GSI and Macro Binoculars would be very cool as well. I do recommend a cap on people playing in one particular cantina. Unique cards from different locations would be extremely cool too.

They should have put this in with the upcoming mini-expac, player housing. Just some things in-game that are non-combat oriented but still fun to log in for, or do while taking a break from questing or waiting for a queue.

If player vs. player is too complicated to implement, simply make it against NPCs like your companions and people in cantinas.

There could be more famous NPCs in various locations, and perhaps skill levels. The best would be in the casinos on NS.

Tie it in with achievements, reputation, and the CM, and it makes sense with the current design philosophy.

Pazaak, Dejarik, Sabacc etc all should be added to cantinas. great thing to do while waiting for group finder or wz to pop, sit and play another player at pazaak for credits!

And just think how awesome swoop racing could be? not be using the slow speeders we have right now, but swoops with gears, a clutch, a booster! racing another player over Tatooine or Nar Shaddaa, epic!.
