Hey guys. I recently made a sorc and i found him way too overplayed. I dont like overplayed classes :D

So, in your opinion, what are the most underplayed and underrated classes?

I wanna roll something viable in both pvp and pve

specialist - there is some cheated builds, its underestimated and still very nice tanks and hybrid tank/damage dealer

sniper - ok its not the less played, but face to maradeurs/operatives/sorcerer/merc...

it's at least those 2 classes the less played on my serv

Sounds good, mercenary seems to be interesting

Most of the time a class is underplayed because it is deemed NOT viable for pvp or pve.

For pve any healer or tank is usually underplayed and in demand.

For pvp Jedi Knight Guardian is a good choice or any healer.

Most people who love to play under represented classes go into it knowing the class is underpowered and they find joy in making it work through a clever use of skill, and manipulation of the classes game mechanics in certain situations.

Cheers.

From my limited experience (1-30) on Sith side I've seen tons of Sith Inquisitors (both Sorcs and Assassins) and tons of BH Mercenary's. I've seen a decent amount of IA Snipers, Operatives, and Sith Warriors. I have YET to see a BH Powertech. I don't know if I just have been unlucky or if my server is weird but I haven't seen a single Powertech. I'd say that it is very underplayed.

But again.. My experience being limited (only level 30 and I was playing hour 1-day 1 of early access).

On Empire on my server I almost never see assassins or powertechs. Decent numbers of everything else, but hierarchy would probably be Sorcerer>Mercenary>Marauder>Operative>Juggernaut>Sniper>Assassin>Powertech.

The one caveat here being that virtually none of the sorc/merc/ops I see are healspec.

This doesn't apply crossfaction though, as I see tons and tons of Vanguards on my republic character, more guardians, and not so many sages.

There is no class that fits that criteria.

Sniper is the least played because the cover system is new and a bit strange, especially for pvp. Doesn't make it not viable though. Snipers can dominate in PVP.

For Empire the most underplayed is probably Sniper or Powertech.

Operatives were originally the least played, but when people found out how powerful they were, everyone decided to roll one.

For Republic the least played is probably Vanguard.

One of least played classes is Powertech/Vanguard, and this class is one of game's best hidden secrets.

I wanted to roll a trooper, but I couldn't decide if I wanted Commando (awesome damage, a big gun, heals) or a bland looking Vanguard (coming from WAR, I knew the priceless value of Guard/Taunt in PVP).

After playing it to level 50, I am dead certain that the bland class is actually Commando and Vanguard is a highly versatile swiss knife of doom.

I have a 50 Vanguard and like the class, but I might roll a Powertech alt if they're needed more.

As you mentioned, taunt + aoe taunt + stun + aoe stun + interupt + ranged interupt + harpoon makes you very versatile and useful in a team.

Yeah I rolled PT as my very first class, couldn't have picked a better one blindly. It's a blast in PVP, especially Tank spec which can charge as well. Mobility, check, Survivability, check, Utility, check. My class.

On my Server, The Progenitor EU, it seems to be like this:

Overplayed

Mercenary

Powertech

Played a lot but not really overplayed

Sorcerer

Marauder

Juggernaut

Sniper

Rarely Seen

Assassin

Operative

EDIT: There's a ridiculous number of Sorcs and Snipers in the lower levels though, I'm just going by 50.

Thanks for all the replies guys, awesome :)

After a few battlegrounds i rolled an iA and a BH.

I made the iA into a sniper. The damage is really good but it does seem a bit immobile after all, i dont like standing around all the time. Im more the "damage on the run" guy so i made a bounty hunter and im liking it so far.

Now, i cant decide which subclass i should spec to.

I watched some pvp videos (pvp is very important for me) of pyrotech spec'd powertechs and meh, the damage doesnt seem very good. Maybe ive watched the wrong videos or so.

I dont wanna be the top dps whore in battlegrounds or so, but i also dont want to be a jack of all trades.

I'd really appreciate if someone could give me a quick pro/con list of all merc and BH subclasses.

Thanks in advance!

sniper is underplayed because the cover mechanic is super annoying to use. you either have to love it, or be super skilled to get it to work.

compared to commandos and mercs who can just run around spamming the same attack most of the time and be just as effective.

Right off the bat the balance looked like this (in a nutshell and in my experience)

Faction: Empire>>Republic

Classes:

Force Wielders>>Non-Force Wielders

Speccs:

Imperial: Sorcerer>Marauder>Mecenary>Assassin>Sniper>Juggernaut>Operative>Powertech

Republic:

Sentinel>Shadow>Guardian>Commando>Sage>Vanguard>Gunslinger>Scoundrel

With Force wielders outnumbering non force-wielders by leaps and bounds.

Now 1 month after release people have found out the underplayed classes actually rock the house, with BH/Trooper classes absolutely owning PvP and Gunslinger/Sniper being the best PvE-single-target-DPS, while Scoundrels/Operatives are nigh unkillable when played right.

The only force wielder class that stayed up ther populationwise is sorcerer because its reasonably able to contribute and followes all the "cool dark side craze"...

But after people found out how especially Sentinel/Marauder and Guardian/Juggernaut need help in PvP and PvE I see Knight/Warrior numbers nosediving to oblivion.

If you really want to play an underplayed class I'd still recommend Scoundrel. For some odd reason people dont give a damn how good the class is (and good it is) they won't play it...

EDIT: The thread btw is the perfect example of how Empire outnumbers Republic by leaps and bounds. I have zero clue why this is the case, but it is. Yesterday at 8:30pm on my server, Republic fleet 94, Imperial fleet 172. This about handles it.

Indeed. I did a WZ last night on my Sorc Alt (level 21) and there were no less than 8 concealment Operatives and 5 mercs there. Given that I was the only healer, it was constant faceplanting and tracer missile explosions. I spent half of the time face down in the dirt, the other half in the rez area. Edited by Khabarach

I've seen some pretty interesting replies in here (apart from 90% being Imperial). My chars are so far all on the republic side, and from what I've seen on my server, the general trend we have going is something like;

Commando > Guardian > Shadow > Sentinel > Scoundrel/Gunslinger (similar amount of em) > Vanguard > Sage

Also someone mentioned how in pve tanks/healers are usually in demand, personally I don't see it that way on my server. Healers are always in demand, but we have way too many tanks, so much so that it gets to the point where parties have 2 tank classes in them...

Scoundrel is indeed good mechanic wise, however it doesn't feel very epic. It's hard to explain, but the animations just make the character feel weaker than it is.

Yea, I agree, the class is pure understatement, you kick, you punch, you've only got 1 blaster...

... It still kicks hard. Like Han Solo, saving the day with just one shot.

I don't play one either, but it is the perfect recommendation for an underplayed but very powerful choice.
