RevansFollower
First thats a good price on that case. Second looks like a solid system 1 thing i would upgrade to is the GPU for a few more $. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948 And get this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007 You can save the $ for them with this PSU it's pleanty for that system. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371031 As far a waiting on the IVY your choice PCIE 2.1 is not being fully used yet so it will be a few years at least before you need 3.0 if ever. They will not start making games that people can not play.( except a poor game engine like this) The IVY will be pricey for about 15% better performance. The i5 2500k will destroy all games for years to come their really no need to OC it much now unless your one that just needs to say my CPU is OC'ed @ 5.0 GHz. As far as ncix I never use them so no anwser their. EDIT i really like 1.5v ram for intel http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 Thanks for the help! I want to keep the overall theme of Corsair, and the power supply has a 15% off code for now, plus a small rebate, and it seems to be ready for Crossfire later on. I also looked at the ram you linked. They are similar, and mine was also Corsair... I would get the regular vengeance, but I am not sure it would fit with my Heatsink. I do like the video card you linked, though so maybe I will go for that instead. Thanks again!
FLCarguy
I am looking to purchase the following system from Digital Storm Online. Does anyone have any experience with their systems/support? The primary use of this computer will be to play SWTOR at the highest settings (and hopefully achieve 60+ FPS in Warzones/Operations) Couple of questions: Is the Quad core processor enough for the foreseeable future or should I upgrade to a 6 core processor? I selected the GTX580's because it seems Nvidia supports their cards better than AMD does with updated drivers. However, it seems because the 7970's are newer from AMD, they outperform the GTX580's. Does anyone have any suggestions on AMD versus Nvidia? I know Nvidia is coming out with new cards soon, but I can't wait too much longer. Thanks in advance for your help (I know I can build this computer for less, but my time is also valuable to me.) Rohanshot
As it stands now my computer sucks. How badly? -I can barely do Space Combat -I can't even see any blaster bolts firing from the lag. -Lightsabers are a slideshow. If I activate, then there is a jedi on my screen standing...2 seconds later lightsaber!:( -PvP is impossible! -Dialogues take forever to load and to take place. Even then it's a slideshow. I actually stopped playing not because of bugs or broken PvP, but because my computer sucks. When I started downloading the game, there was a message saying I did not have enough computer cores to run SWTOR (more on that later) I need a computer badly! My current computer is a Windows Vista (roughly a 2008-2009 model.) I don't know anything about computer specs but I do know that I have a Celeron processor. From what I have heard this is a really ******ty processor... I don't want to build a new PC because, frankly, I suck with machines and I cant afford something that expensive. I need to know from someone what is the best commerical laptop or PC to run SWTOR on. By commercial, I mean I can just walk into Best Buy and go to the computer aisle to find it. If that is not possible, can anyone tell me if there are any decent gaming PC's or laptops. I kinda have fallen for Alienware but a lot of people seem to think otherwise. Please SWTOR forums I need you! I want to play this game, I want to help my guild, I want to PvP and I want to enjoy this game! I just need a new computer! :(

Jinook_Phi
Hey All- Ive been playing on a lower end system, been "ok" on all low settings, but I would much rather be able to play on high settings and just improve on FPS and overall performance. A friend pointed out this computer on Craigs List and I would like to know what you think. Please, genuine and balanced responses. I dont need the best system, just a good one. I know the card is older, but all the other stuff (Im told by the friend who play LOTR) apparently compensates. I really dont have more then $750 to spend and I'm not going to build my own for fear of burning down my home. ;-) So would you (a) buy a basic i3 from Best Buy for $500 and then just upgrade the graphics card and power supply (right at my top end of $750), or (b) would you buy this rig: ------------------------------- Intel i7 875k - easily overclocks to 4.0GHz, and I've even had it as far as 4.3GHz, and that's being conservative with the voltage. For the CPU cooler I'm using the Asetek LCLC All-in-one water cooling solution. It does a pretty good job and requires no maintenance. I have 2x 120mm fans on the radiator. Asus P7P55D-E Pro motherboard - Has Sata 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 ports, good overclocking features, tons of cool stuff on this board. Sapphire HD 5770 - A pretty decent card and a good overclocker 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Kingston Hyper-X RAM 40GB Intel V-25 SSD - fast as hell, gets great boot times and load times for games 200GB Hard drive in addition to the SSD. Cooler Master 690II Advanced case - this is one awesome case that I'll really miss. Lots of fans and room for more fans, top-mounted hot-swappable hard drive bay on top, E-SATA, USB, and headphone inputs on the top, tool-less installation for all hard drive bays, which makes swapping stuff really quick and simple. I'm also going to throw in a memory card reader in the front of the case that reads a bunch of different types of cards. OCZ 700W GameXstream Power supply - plenty of power for this computer and future upgrades. Windows 7 Home Premium included, as well as the activation key. asking price is $650 Thanks! CaptainZesty
I'm looking at a system that has an i5 sandybridge and 8 gigs of ram. (Unfortunately, it's a pre-built system, I don't have a choice on that.) I was looking at getting an NVIDIA GT 520 to go along with that, but I was wondering if it is worth upping it to something like the GTX 550Ti? Anything would be a huge upgrade over what I was running (I don't even meet the minimum specs), but I'd like to be able to run on high settings, (even if I have to tweak them a little). If I can average 30 fps on higher settings, I would be ecstatic. How much of a difference would swapping my GPU choice make?

With a 520 (it's nowhere near a gaming card lowest settings at best) you will be very disapointed. If its a prebuilt that comes with a 520 and your going to add a 550ti you will probaly need a new power supply also because they usally put the bare min in them. The 550ti is not really good either get a 6850 or better 560ti. It runs fine on a 6850 but still not maxed out. They are always choices building a PC is really easy. Senatsu
I've just bought some new computer parts, not strictly for SWTOR, but I would love to hear some of what I can expect in terms of FPS and graphics settings in comparison to my current build. Current build: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit 1TB HDD 8GB RAM nVidia GeForce 250 GTS GPU Intel i5 650 dual-core 3.20 GHz CPU 550W PSU Steady 10 FPS in combat with everything on low and turned off. New build: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. 120 GB SSD (purely for system and 2 or 3 of the games I play the most) 8GB RAM (might upgrade these if it will help) Intel i7 2700k quad-core 3.50 GHz CPU (planning on overclocking this) Gainward GeForce GTX 570 "Golden Sample" GPU 1050W PSU. Any thoughts? Edited March 22, 2012 by Senatsu
