Does any of the books or games of star wars ever mention how the sith are able to use lightning and why the Jedi choose not to use it?

The Sith can use it because they are stronger, use their emotions and passions to fuel their power. The jedi cannot because they are weak.

 

If anyone disagrees the Sith is stronger then explain why jedi are so tempted to the darkside? Its because its more powerful.

 

 

Take examples of Darth Nihious or Darth Sion, attaining immortality or devouring entire planets. Or Darth plaguis creating life.

 

What can the jedi do? throw rocks? swing light sabers? The Sith can do the same but the jedi cannot do what the Sith can.

We never know for a fact that Plagueis created life, Sion wasn't immortal, the Exile killed him and Nihilus couldn't even control his own power. You even totally missed a point of the game, No matter how powerful you are, You can be killed.

AFAIK hurling objects at your opponent is just as effective as zapping them with lightning.

Very wrong, The jedi are just as equally powerful as the sith. If they weren't then the sith wouldn't have lost every war against the jedi, They would've taken over the galaxy a very long time ago.

 

Just because you can zap people with lightning doesn't mean that you are on the more powerful side of the force. It's the quicker way out of things, more seductive because it's the easy way out.

People survive getting struck by lightning and walk away with it, don't see alot of people walking away after having a boulder thrown at there head.

Because the lightning is a physical manifestation of the dark side, and a corruption of the force. You can't produce that kind of effect unless you are all but consumed by the dark side already.

 

And anyone trying to tell you different is just trying to seduce you to the dark side.

the reason the jedi chose not use lightning is because it is a form of attack and the jedi never use the force a form of attack they only use the force in defence of those who have non or of them selves from an attack. there is you answer

The use of lightning, cryokinetics, and pyrokinetics are largely fueled by a persons passions. Specifically anger and hate. You have to have zero remorse for the pain caused to a person, or their death, as you cook them from the inside and send their muscles into spams, roast them, or drain their life energies turning them into frozen husks.

 

The Jedi do have a form of lightening called Electric Judgement, used by Plo Koon and (I think) Luke Skywalker.

 

Besides, Sith like to show off, and lightening is shiny.

Guys, Sith Lightning isn't actually lightning. More like DS energy. It has nothing to do with physics of electricity.

Jedi can use Force Lightning, but most don't because it is a Dark Side abilaty. This does not mean you have to be evil to use it, but it does open you to the Dark Side since it is fuled by your passions.

Force Lightening is not electricity

there is a new book (i forget the name its one of the "essential" books) about the dichotomy of Jedi and Sith. this book does explain that Jedi Master Plo Koon (orange dude with breathing mask) used force lightning on an impulse in a mission. though the rest of the council was worried about this, Plo Koon chose to master the passionless application of the art and implement it in his fighting style. He called it Electric Judgement.

 

the reason lightning is mostly attributed to the dark side is that it has no utility. its only application is the infliction of pain and death. this is as opposed to the jedi's go-to power, telekinesis, which has any number of non combat related applications.

 

So yes, some jedi used lightning, but most frown upon it. this is because it is purely a combat technique, and it is important to remember that while Sith are, by nature, conquerors, Jedi are by nature Scholar warriors, with an emphasis on scholar.

The Darkside IS STRONGER, the only disagreements are from fan boys or players who are mad they choose a jedi.

 

Darth Sion was immortal he could not die in battle, the only way he was defeated was to be convinced to let go of his pain.

 

NO JEDI EVER had such a power.

 

Darth Nihiliuos DEVOURED ENTIRE frackin planets, he devoured thousands of jedi without even needing to draw his lightsaber. he was only defeated for his "connection" or love for his apprentice, in other words his last straw of humanity. He was the Dark Side made manifest.

Darth Revan a Jedi Master turned to the Dark Side and became MORE POWERFUL, had he remained a Jedi he would be too weak and indeed the republic would have remained too weak too resist the madalorians or the True Sith Empire.

Darth Maul is taken down by TWO jedis, and he kills one

 

Darth Sidious kills three Jedi Masters and draws with Mace although it can be argued he lost its very obvious it was a ruse to turn Anakin to the Dark Side.

 

Count Dooku defeats anakin and obi wan and holds his own againt yoda,

It then takes a much more experence obi wan and anakin to beat him and ONLY after anakin used his anger (darkside) to overwhelm him.

The dark side is more powerful in the short term as it is a quicker path to power. In the long term, it is no more powerful than the light side. Just look at Luke. He -could- do everything you just stated. But, being a Jedi not a Sith, he -chooses- not to. It's not a case of "Oh, Sith can do this and Jedi can't", it's a case of "BOTH can do this and the Jedi CHOOSE not to."
