Given those options it's terrible.

Why you feel the need to poll when you could just read the forums, or hell try playing your own game(!)*.... I really don't know.

*only slightly tongue in cheek, stupid as it sounds (even to me), I am starting to genuinely think that no-one involved in creating this game actually plays it.

Oddly enough all of this could of been easily solved with a small change.. removing the flash at the end of the GCD. Hell even leave it on the end of long CDs and it wouldnt of mattered. the fact three sides of our screen all Blink every 1.5 seconds is whats getting people disoriented.

I never actually had any of the issues with past UI functions and designs some have complained about which triggered this need to constantly change them. That goes from Beta up until the "last" one we had.

the ONLY thing I think that would have made it better was more or less contrast. That is " skills in cool down just needed to be a little darker and stay that way until they were ready then pop back to full vivid colour"

the one we have now to me feels like I'm sitting at an overly attention grabbing video poker machine. My main is a Sentinel and Ive gotten to a point that you live or die by the cooldowns in a way I've not felt with other classes, and it's distracting, some abilities are lit up, others are dark but still ready to use ( which I cant tell they are ready to use at a uber swift glance, so that leads to skill spamming)

I also seem to see the flashing not only when they are done, but when they go into cooldown, or sometimes it just " seems" to flash for the sake of flashing to let me know " hey Im working on it, just thought you should know I'll be ready in a moment, Didn't mean to distract you from that elite that just broke your stasis and is about to utterly destroy you because you had to check on me after flashing you just there..."

Thats my spin at least. Not saying I wont or cant adjust, and in fact sort of had ( mostly by key spamming till something works in heated situations)

It sort of feels like " My car needed washer fluid added, nothing else, just something to help keep things clear.... But rather than simply add more fluid they rebuilt the entire engine and swapped out the dash board with a mini casino.

I am not a fan of the new cooldown animations. It doesn't braek the game for me but I feel it is significantly harder to play, especially for sith warrior / jedi knight characters for reasons stated above. Here are some solutions, Bioware, just for you:

1. Give players some options for customizing the look. At the very least, let us choose between original, second try, and current incarnation.

2. Separate(!) the GCD from the rest of the noise. How about a 1.5 second gray clockwork animation around your character portrait? How about a small bar that slides across above the center quickslot? Not sure why you layered gcd over ability cd. In the same direction!

2.a. Have you tried a vertical left to right wipe for the gcd and keeping the horizontal top to bottom wipe for the regular cd?

3. Abilities should only be gray when needed conditions (range, resources, lucidity, position, etc) are not met. Otherwise they should be lit up with the horizontal ability cooldown wipe, if applicable. The GCD should be somewhere else or look different.

4. Yes, I understand there are some abilities that do not respect the GCD. They need a badge or other indicator (similar to stealth, guard, etc) that indicate at a quick glance they can be used at any time.

I understand there is a lot of information to convey every 1.5 seconds of combat. I also know parsing all the suggestions and coming up with a plan will be difficult. I only ask that the solution is available asap, provides no ambiguity to the player, and has some degree of customization. Thanks!

My opinion, which I've stated before, is to simply:

Separate the GCD animation from the CD animation

The flashing wouldn't be so bad if it only applied to regular CDs. After all, you'll probably only have 1 or 2 abilities finishing CD at the same time. Seeing it flash after every 1.5 second GCD is a bit ridiculous, especially since the ability queue window lets us queue up the next ability up to 1 second BEFORE it flashes.

This is the first post I have made to the forum and that is because the new GCD effect makes me feel sick after playing for roughly 30min. The only other videogame to do this to me was Battlefield 1 + 2: Bad Company due to the ratio of the size of weapons vs the size of characters on the screen. I hope they fix it soon as I have to stop after 45min - 1 hour of gameplay.

Changes are definitely going to be made to the UI in response to initial feedback we received after the patch was deployed. (Very little feedback was received on the PTS Forum before the patch was deployed to the live servers, otherwise changes may have been made before the patch's deployment.)

I'd be more than happy to help test patches, but I'm not going to spend half of my play time leveling a character on the PTS just to do it.

If you want us to use the PTS, we need a premade or a character copy.

It simply will not get tested otherwise.

they are bringing servers down for Ilum, I really hope they revert the UI change to what it was at least until they have a final solution. That way everyone getting sick can actually play instead of be pissed off and on the forums.

And I've been posting in yellow since I first joined the forums back in 2009. That's not changing anytime soon. :)

GamewizX is completely correct. I knew this fellow way back when the OT was flourishing, and I myself used a gold text w/ bold highlights. GamewizX is an intelligent person with an aptitude for writing that isn't often seen anymore. If I remember correctly, he is also a perfectionist.

Even if some of you have disagreements in opinion, he is an excellent person and I will vouch for his caliber any time it is brought into question. :)

Hey everyone, thank you to all of you who gave constructive feedback here. We've closed the poll as we feel we have a good indication of your opinions. As I said previously, changes will be made to the global cooldown and we'll bring you more information when we have a solid timeline to share.

Possibly more than any part of the game, UI is a very subjective topic, so we understand the varied opinions expressed here. The long-term aim for The Old Republic is to give players flexibility in their UI choices and the changes coming for Game Update 1.2 will allow for more of that.

I wanted to also address concerns about the Public Test Server. We're working towards enabling character transfers so you can move your own character across and test new patches. Other ideas to allow the testing of high-level content have been explored, but ultimately character transfer is what we want to allow for everyone.

I wish you addressed people getting physically sick from the UI causing a form of motion sickness. Why didn't you?

My problem is that he uses very loaded language and implies things he later denies. If you look throughout this thread and the original thread most of his posts spawn arguements because of this.

Didn't even notice the changes till the forum started drowning in QQ.

Honestly, I find it hardly noticeable. I see that it's been changed, but it's an afterthought really.

Funny thing is, the people that either are/will be saying things like ZOMG LOOK AT RESULTZ, TOLD YOU! don't even stop to consider that the amount of peole that have responded in the poll so far are about 1/6 of 1% of total people subbed.

You also wanted to completely ignore the health issue.

So this isnt going to be changed til march?!

I have been having a lot of trouble with this change. I have light sensitivity and the flash after the fading blue is bugging the hell out of me. I am getting dizzy and nauseous from it within 30 mins of playing and I am forced to log.

I had no problem with the GCD before. How about making the blue flashing a little more subtle making it more like a grey found in other games and removing that bright flash at the end of it. If I could customize my UI, then I could move all of the flashing to one cube of bars and maybe then it would not bother me, but I am unsure. All I know, is that people complained about a little issue that was not that bad and Bioware royally screwed it up.

If this is not fixed by next bill cycle, I will have to quit, not because I am mad and hate this game, but because of one change that I cannot adjust to, one that physically makes me sick. I am sad for this and ask for a fix promptly.

New Idea for spell CD's: Add a countdown to the ability coming off cooldown for once it gets to 59 secs. Anything below a minute will show the countdown for its cooldown no matter what and longer cooldowns will be easily noticeable by this minute countdown.
