Random deaths in Ancient Hypergate

It's hard to make a constructive post when the bug I'm reporting is so retarded that I don't know how this warzone got through to live without fixing it but I'll try. Just right now I was at full health at mid and someone from the other team threw a grenade at me and next thing I know I'm dead. Here's what my combat log says:

Just the other day I was knocked back into a wall and blown up instantly. For a warzone that is predicated on getting kills this kind of bug is stupid to be not be addressed. I'm sure I've read others posted this before. Maybe not all people have experienced this especially in rank but given the randomness I'm sure they will. But hey what do I know....it's your game.

theres a few spots on the map that i know of where if you are in the right spot you will die automatically. i was defending a node and was just trying to find a spot to stand behind something for "cover" and behind one of the objects on the ground, theres a small space between another object and the object i was behind, somehow i "fell" into that space and died. not sure if its supposed to be like that, it doesnt make any sense. how do i die from falling half a foot? i think there are several spots like this on the AH map.

I was climbing a pylon near the node to get a sniper perch going when I got stuck in mid jump and died for no reason.

 

Sounds like the "Fix" they used on the Ragual FP to keep people from climbing up to avoid getting attached. The problem is when you get knocked back into those areas you also instant die.

there are similar spots in the open world also

 

two that come immediately to mind are in outlaws den. the first was on the spikes at the little shacks on the imp entrance side. if you jump on a spike just right you die instantly.

 

ok, hey, its a spike, should have expected that. what i didnt expect was for the exact same thing to happen when i jumped on the curtain behind the two shacks on the pub entrance side

its because they decided to make 50000 jagged edges in this silly map instead of rounding things off, and making surfaces flat.

 

people dont get stuck in novare coast because all the terrain is rounded and smooth. The biggest problem with novare coast is people capping in the corner inside of the node... which would be eliminated if the inside was rounded instead of a box with little corners.

 

Unfortunately Hypergate is full of these stupid little spots where people get stuck into and are insta killed.

A simple way to fix this is to make it so /stuck in combat doesn't kill you. That would also eliminate people exploiting the /stuck command in Civil war and voidstar.

-Problem: /stuck only really works half the time, and people find themselves endlessly stuck in places where their only way of getting out is dying.

Just pointing out, /stuck or those insta deaths dont count toward an actual death, just like the fire pit in Huttball doesn't. It is horribly annoying, I was node guarding on my shadow during a RWZ once and jumped up and down and insta died. Cool stuff. They took the node. GG BW

Praying that someone would come kill you so you could get back in the fight, but some smart ones left you stuck there like a piece of furniture while they flipped the node or slaughtered your mates. /memories :o

I don't think you were talking about this, but dying in the exoplosions between rounds *does* count as a death. just to be clear. but I am familiar with the other kind of instant death, usually after a pushback or kb into a wall of some kind.

Have gotten this bug several times, often full HP, then all of a sudden instant death. Usually it happens when I get knocked or pushed back against a certain wall. It will say something like "defeated by kill target 0 damage". Such a stupid bug and I don't get how this wasn't caught and fixed before the wz went live on the regular servers.

I have experienced this bug on multiple toons and seen it happen numerous times (just last night in fact). Seems to occur at mid of Ancient Hypergates when a toon gets punted into the wall. I've seen it happen on both sides of mid so there isn't just one spot.

 

Anyway, bug report it. I have in the past. Didn't last night though. BW may eventually fix it, but who knows.
