Ichinoez
Hey I need some help from an expert and im sure there are some here.. I get anything from 10-40 fps in SWTOR.. I run lowest graphics with shadows off and low res etc I was thinking of buying a new graphics card cuz i know mine is weak for gaming but I don't know if my other stuff is good enough. I wanna buy a new one..but I don't know how you check if it's useable with the motherboard.. Can u explain how to check it please? And also do you know any good graphic cards if I wanna play at best graphics and still get good fps and lagfree game? And for future games like Diablo 3 I heard these were good enough to run SWTOR at highest setttings from another site but I wanna comfirm it.. If it will work well with future games aswell thanks! Radeon HD 6750 Radeon HD 6770 Radeon HD 6850 • Operating System: Windows 7 64-BIT • Processor: AMD Ahtlon II X4 635 Processor (4CPUs), ~2.9GHz • RAM: 6GB (6144MB) • Video/Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5450 Desktop Help is appreciated! Senatsu
I have heard that SWTOR has some issues with AMD graphics cards, so I would go with a GeForce card myself. It could of course have something to do with drivers and other computer components, that is causing the issues.
Poor_Grammar
What card should you get? The one you can afford. I'm actually surprised you say you're having problems with your current card. I run maxed with a 5870 and have fps to spare. I'm not saying you should get a 5870, just that a super high end card is complete overkill for this game. Ichinoez
I'm thinking of buying the Radeon HD 6850.. I've kinda noob when it comes to graphic cards and computers but you need to check if this card works with ur motherboard.. Can anyone explain detailed how to do that? Norsmeang
none of those are very good and from the looks of that list you're budget is fairly low so I would have to suggest a GTX 460, should be able to find one for around $100, anything from MSI or Evga would be good. to find out your motherboard go to Start, in the search programs windows type dxdiag and under system model it should show the model # of the board, then just look it up on Google for the specs Edited December 28, 2011 by Norsmeang
Papazooki
I have a 6850, and I run the game on everything maxed (including optimal quality in amd control center) and I almost always get 60-70 fps.
Sinister-Sith
Radeon 6850. I am using the 6850 and am achieving upwards of 50+ FPS on highest settings, 1600x900.

My GPU can withstand Battlefield 3 on high reaching a frame-rate of about 45 - 60fps at 1600x900. They are fantastic bang-for-your-buck cards. RachelAnne
I have heard that SWTOR has some issues with AMD graphics cards, so I would go with a GeForce card myself. It could of course have something to do with drivers and other computer components, that is causing the issues. I actually think that the most complaints come from nvidia users, but you are also not totally wrong, those with AMD CPU do complain a lot too. I run the game perfect with an intel - AMD system and there is tons of space for extended graphics if BW would finally patch them in. @ OT From my point of view, the best cards you can get for your money are either an 6950 or 6870 by AMD. The 6950 will run every game on ultra, maxed settings - the 6870 will run most. I am not sure tho, if your problem really is the GPU. It more seems like your CPU is not powerfull enough, at MMO´s an intel CPU is atleast from my experience a lot better. I´m not talking about the quad core power, allready every single core has more power and as far I know SWTOR is only able to adress 1 core atm. so that those who got a weaker CPU run into problems. If I were you I would first try to disable AA in your catalyst center and vsync at your SWTOR.

Drezdyn
Running 6850 here, constant stuttering while playing and FPS drops from 80-70-40-60 during combat. Can't even enable bloom/shadows anymore since stuttering becomes more frequent; and seems to be an AMD issue. Graphics card never reaches over 50 degrees, fans constantly running, Windows 7 64-bit, Quad core and 8 gigs and still this issue, no virus software on, ports forwarded, affinity set, realtime. Seems like you are either lucky when playing with AMD cards or poorly shafted. Been searching all over online for a fix and nothing works. My brand new computer should be more than enough to play this game and very annoying when I run BF3 on high with no issue.
JaxonLuxor
I get 40 - 60 FPS @ 1920/1080 Max detail (shadows off) with an old ATI 4770 (that I bought on ebay for $60), 2.8 Quad and 8GB - so any those should work One thing to check is what PSU you have as well. The 6850, for example, pulls ~131 watts idle and 229 watts under load. Your 5450 is worse at idle (150 watts) but only pulls 161 watts under load. Just make sure your PSU is up to it. The main reason that I got the 4770 was so I didn't have to update my PSU because...well, I'm lazy. Edited December 29, 2011 by JaxonLuxor
mines
I have a crossfire setup with two Radeon 5870's and no issues. I make sure I use the manufacturer branded catalyst drivers. IE XFX. Running Catalyst 11.12 Win 7 64bit. Sometimes I have noticed that it is better to use the manufacturer updated drivers instead of AMD's. Also I would recommend a GPU bios update for your card...along with any other bios updates for your motherboard. Check with the manufacturers tech support for the cards and explain your issue if you feel it is the card.
zanderlord
Would I be able to use a Satellite L350 Toshiba Laptop with a GTX 460? I have the asic setup of the laptop right now, but the graphics card is not good enough for the game. I need to know if the GTX 460 is compatible with my computer. Any help would be appreciated. I have the asic setup of the laptop right now, but the graphics card is not good enough for the game. I need to know if the GTX 460 is compatible with my computer. Any help would be appreciated. I have the ASUS G73SW-A1 laptop. It has a Nvidia GTX 460M. I am running 1900x1200 with all details set to high with no problems. (30+ fps). So a Toshiba with a GTX460 should theoretically work fine. Unpleasant
I've got a 6570 and I run this game on all max settings except for medium AA and turning off shadows, and I run between 40 and 70 fps, depending on the area. Any of those cards will do just fine.
Xzulld
Its probably overkill but I went with a FX560TI, and its ROCKING. Max settings 40-70 FPS everywhere on an old 2.4 dual core running XP with 3 GB of generic ram.
