Next MMO I should try?

Any you haven't yet. Not being smart, I just mean it all depends on what you like, how active you are in them, and what you are expecting from them. All get old. Now days they seem to get old much faster than back in wow vanilla / BC days. But maybe that's just me. With all the toxicity online and in games, it seems more are opting for single player or core group gaming to avoid the masses in massively. ESO is good right now. But I have to add DON'T LEAVE SWTOR for it. Try it, but yeah....hurry back. :) Edited by Malphicious

Don't get your hopes up, pretty much every MMO in the past years that has been praised as the new "bestest thing of all bestest things" beforehand has been a disappointment.

At least i'm not very optimistic anymore.

For Pantheon, for some reason I get the feeling that it will not be a game for everyone. But, for a certain group of people, they will love it, and the team making Pantheon, they will take care of the game. I don't expect it to be a WoW killer.

I think of it like This. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies are for a general audience. And, judging from box office numbers and critical response, a general audience likes MCU movies. WoW is the MCU. Pantheon is like Watchmen (2009). It's definitely not for everyone. But, it will appeal to a certain group of people, and those certain people will love it.

They've already stated in their FAQs that the game is meant to be played with others and that it's a social game. So, that already distances itself from the solo players.

For any MMO, I myself am not necessarily looking for "the next best thing". I'm just looking for a decent game that has a team that wants to support said game. Just based on how Pantheon's development has been going so far, it looks like they are on the right track.

Now, as to whether they can stay on that right track is something that only time will tell. :)

Anyway, it looks interesting to me.

I myself have thought about trying GW2. Some people here are talking about it, and maybe I'll consider giving it a try when I get some free time.

If you play Engineer (nominally a turret class), and you have Path of Fire, you can specialise as a Holosmith, and the first Engineer you have who does this will get a lightsabre. See my post on page 1 for pictures.

On the topic, how about WILDSTAR, RIFT, AoC, DDO and LotRo?

Haven't touched them for years and was wondering...

Also, any other MMO but ESO I should try?

I'm kind of explorer/socializer type of player and I spend too much time furnishing my characters homes :)

I bought ESO but not the latest paid expansion (Morrowind). If you like exploring, you might want to consider ESO.

You get to explore a big world instead of just navigating a few tiny corridors like the recent places in this game. Even Voss and Tatooine (big planets in this game) got nothing on Auridon.

The combat system is different than SWTOR. Not saying it's better or worse. I'm just saying its different.

I tried GW2. Sorry. The graphics turned me off. I just didn't like them.

I had the same problem when I tried WoW. I couldn't get passed the graphics, which made me realize the game wasn't my cup of tea.

If you and others like GW2 (and WoW). Good for you and them. People should play a game they like. I just didn't care to try either anymore than I already have.

If you don't/didn't like the graphics in WoW or GW2 I can't imagine many MMOs out there will have appealing graphics for you personally. For instance WoW, Wildstar, and SWTOR all have stylized cartoonish graphics. MMOs with a more "realistic" art direction have aged incredibly poorly visually. FF14 and Black Desert Online probably fall somewhere in between with stylized character proportions but with more realistic styled textures.

FFXIV I'd have to say is worth a shot. Graphics are pretty sweet and the flexibility of the player is something other MMO's should do.

Your character can level ALL the crafting professions or ALL the gathering professions followed by ability to shift your class even on the same character (By leveling up that class skill).

Actually I find FF14's graphics very good. ESO has good graphics. Their artistic style doesn't completely align what what I like, but it still looks good. And, for the artistic style they are using, there is a lot of attention to detail.

I like this game's graphics too. The first time I was on Tython, I was amazed at how well the game looked.

I have tried BDO once for about a hour. I didn't have any complaints about the graphics.

Now, of course, graphics aren't everything. Pac Man is a great, fun game, a true classic, and it's graphics are about as old as I am :D.

I bought ff14 and the heavesward expansion (but not the bloodstorm expansion) and kept a subscription for a few months like around the spring time.

I really liked it overall. I can't remember why I stopped playing though...

Oh poo.

Is Star Trek Online any good? I know it's been around a very long time and I've heard mention of it a few times on here.

I just started playing STO recently. It's probably one of the more/most complicated MMOs out there. If you're playing by yourself with no one to guide you you're never really clear on what it is that you're doing or supposed to be doing, how to loadout your ship, what abilities you should be using, etc. It also doesn't help things that the game has a messy/complicated UI. It's definitely at the opposite end of the streamlined MMO spectrum that is SWTOR.

There is ALOT of content to explore or playthrough which is good, but it can feel like you're fighting an uphill battle at times.

There's no harm in trying it (other than time spent) given it's free. Maybe playthrough the tutorial.
