You don't need to fight in a war to keep your skills up, theres other ways to keep and hone the skills people have.

the emperor (supposedly the strongest sith at that time) lost easily to mace windu.. only the betrayal by anakin at the last moment help turn the tide in emperor's favor.. anakin counts as sith in this part..

but

darth maul, disadvantaged 1 against 2, cleverly separate the over confident jedis and proceed to kill them one by one.. he lost because he is toying with obi wan..

so

1 sith vs 2 or more jedi = Sith WON

2 sith vs 1 jedi = Sith WON

result

Based on the fights on the movies, SITH mostly WON if they are not outnumbered.. JEDI mostly WON if they outnumber the SITH 2 to 1..

JEDI uses darkside (anger and fear) to win some of the fights

The Sith are more powerful than the Jedi, the Sith almost always do themselves in by their arrogance.

This. Villains always have to be more powerful or there wouldnt be conflict. Without conflict there can be no story. The main characters always need to be underdogs.

I personally think its an even ballance. But the Sith are more powerful by definition of the term powerful.

but in return, the jedi are in greater control of the force and thus always overcome more powerful foes through skill as they arnt consumed by the greed of ataining power.

Let's just say that that is ONLY from Anakin's point of view... doesn't change the fact that he stated the Dark Side is more powerful... I have yet to see a quote or hear George Lucas state that the Light Side is stronger... This is the only quote that states the difference, and that difference, as far as power goes, is that the Dark Side is indeed stronger than the Light Side.

You could argue that there is only the force, there is no light or dark side, just the extend of your current emotions and how at that moment if you are more powerful using focus or hate, passion or serenity, etc etc Each one will be different, varying upon the force user, their emotional state, training, etc etc...

In an interview, Lucas compared the difference between the light and dark sides as being like the difference between a symbiotic relationship and a cancer. A symbiotic relationship is one which benefits both parties and in which neither is harmed, whereas a cancer takes without giving back, eventually causing the death of both parties.

The Jedi are stronger when it comes to true power, being one with the Force, finding peace in conflict, and so on.

Now, if you define "power" as "can burst into a building and electrocute everyone to death within a few seconds"....

If the Sith are inherently more powerful than the Jedi, then why would a Sith ever be defeated by a Jedi? To say one side is more powerful than the other is just silly.

well it really boils down to the fact that Sith weed out the less than powerful acolytes and their apprentices death rates are high too. Unless you are a lord or Darth you're basically a red shirt, and this is before you even leave the academy! You probably could say that now that the sith academy is open to slaves that perhaps they balance out with the jedi but in an MMORPG that's really tough to say as there is no canon on the ratio of strength between jedi and sith orders. The jedi will train force users regardless of power and though they may not make it to master if they are powerful in the use of the force they will nurture and teach all their padawans into knights that can hold their own.

It was one of the reasons why the sith allowed anyone to take the sith trials or should I say they must take the trials of the sith or die. The ranks of sith was depleted in the war but I remember the background of swtor that normally sith are powerful but fewer in number because of the harsh trials and the dog eat dog environment.

So they needed to boost their numbers fast so now anyone that is force sensitive must take the trials of the sith. I do agree that the sith churns out powerful force sensitives cause the weak ones die off in the trials heck an overseer gets like 10 acolytes and only 1-2 will become a sith apprentice.

I say 2 because for example if both acolytes finish the final trial they may give the weaker force sensitive another shot or hand them over to another group of acolytes. Or simply make both of them fight to the death and the strongest one becomes a sith apprentice to a darth or lord.

Sith can become ghosts after they die too.

Many dark lords of the sith protect their tombs as ghosts after their death. They even have the power to harm ppl or possess them. Unlike weak jedi one-with-the-force
