My experiences in the new Heroic Space missions.

Recommended Posts

I'm finding that without the T7 missiles, I just cannot put enough damage into the hardened satellite point in the new ice field mission. I'm THIS close every time, and I can survive the mission easily. I've tried mixing up where I use my EMP but so far it hasn't helped me make any more progress. It's aggravating since this seems to be the easiest of the missions to complete (for me at least).

Someone mention previously that you can get grade 7 gear with daily comms, where do you buy those to cause I can't seem to complete heroic space missions on grade 6 stuff.

Go to a one of the mission support vendors (the one that has the relics rather than the armorings/hilts) at any of the daily mission hubs and you'll be able to buy the Improved EMP and the G7 Shield Regenerator. The other G7 pieces have to be gained through other means (Fleet comms and crafting).

Here is a table that summarize how to get the Grade 7 parts outside the Cartel Shop. The crafted parts, especially the Improved Electronic Warfare Pod are pretty cheap on some servers (only cost me 200k on Harbinger)

All the new parts can be purchased with fleet comms, daily comms and on the GTN - stop trying to make it sound like something it isn't.

which daily comms vendor sells them(as daily comms are by far the easiest of these to get) and do they sell all the parts? or Just some.

full upgrades. and i consider myself a pretty darned good pilot.

i'm currently 1 for 12 on these new missions. some of them are so impossible i laugh. there's one i can't last 45 seconds. If you are going to call this a Heroic Space Mission then i demand you allow 3 other people to help me with it just like a normal group.

oh and 7k credits and 20 fleet comms for winning? NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The missile upgrade is critical. Escort and Ice Field missions were perfectly doable once I had them. Now I'm working on the station assault...I cannot get a second torpedo into the capital ship and the piloting is insane. Finish rate still not 50/50 and I never get the capital ship down.

The first few at least are definitely repeatable with relative ease. The learning curve is steep...seems like there is only one way to use your skills in each mission. Just a question of figuring out the order.

You may wish to reconsider your darned good pilot statement when there's many people who have already completed all the new space missions.

Dulfy already have guides up:

I completed the Regnant Station Assault mission last night with grade 6 upgrades only, after 4 or 5 tries. I'm quite confident I can do it again now that I've learned it. The only other I've tried is Thanium Disruption, and the first two attempts failed spectacularly. That's apparently the hardest one of them all though. It was getting late at that point so I didn't try more.

Those of you that think themselves to be "darned good pilots" and are unable to complete any of the new missions without grade 7 gear might want to re-evaluate their benchmarks for a "darned good pilot". I can blow through every one of the original missions with ease, up to and including The Impossible Sector, completing every bonus mission along the way. In many instances I'm left with spans of two minutes or more where I've completed all the available objectives and am just waiting for the mission to end or the final target to appear. I have a friend who says he can complete The Impossible Sector with grade 3/4 gear, though I haven't personally witnessed that.

I can understand it's frustrating to hit a brick wall with the new missions if your skills are up to the par, but please let others have their fun with them. Not everything needs to be nerfed to the point where casual players can complete it on the first try. The missions don't give anything that isn't available through other means, so there's no need to feel like you have to do them even if they're not fun for you.

First off, they aren't nearly as hard as you claim; once you know what you're doing in each one, they become simple. "Impossible" is a word bandied about by people who lack skill, tenacity or both. If by your own admission you're a "prettydarned good pilot," then you should be rolling these by now.

Second, you make credits (quite a few) for each bonus mission, putting the net gain at around 13k-23k per. Not bad for 4-6 min of work.

Third, those fleet comms add up quickly, and you get a grade 8 crafting materials box for 200 which contain matricies and/or stabilizers. I received 3 stabilizers in each of the last 2 boxes, which sold for 200k each. Again, not a bad return on a few minutes work.

Fourth, just because something isn't faceroll doesn't mean it's not worth doing. You kinda sound like the kid who tried to climb a tree once, fell on his *** then said "this is stupid and people who climb trees are stupid."

I gave most of them a shot, after buying the improved power conversion module. A few I got on the first try. Others took a few tries, but I got it in the end. The one where you have to take down two shuttles and a frigate, I cannot do. But I can tell it's due to three things:

  1. The mines are glitched, and you can't see incoming fire. You can only suffer their effects
  2. The shuttles spend too much time weaving out of your view. If you're focused on shooting them, you're likely to run into an asteroid, and you need every bit of shield you can get in this mission
  3. damage is too low. They just seem too sturdy for me to take down. My best run only destroyed one of them. The frigate was untouched, and the other dashed off into the sunset

I know that I simply need to get shielding and weapon upgrades, and this run will be a heck of a lot easier.
