Night Life 2019 Decos Overwriting Underworld Patrons Personnel Bundle Decos

There's time to fix this before Nightlife goes live, so I hope someone sees this!

Already in the decos inventory UI, updates have been made to include decos from the upcoming Nightlife event. Two of those decos share the exact same name as decos already released via the Cartel Market as part of the Underworld Patrons Personnel Bundle:

Rodian Patron (Female)

Weequay Patron

As a result, the previous decos (from the Bundle) are no longer accessible to search or to place. Essentially, they've been overwritten.

Please make sure to update the names on the new Nightlife decos before it launches, and push the correction out to the decos inventory UI so that we can access our old decos again!

This is a recurring problem, actually - the problem of releasing new decos with identical names to previous ones. It's happened with the Hanging Vines, with Security Monitors, with the Luxury Sconce, with the Stoneray, with the Iknayid, and others. In some cases (like the Hanging Vines, Stoneray, and Iknayid) it's still not fixed, and some of those are decos bought with real money. This should be easily avoidable if, when creating a name for a new deco, someone just did a search on the existing decos database and checked that it's not already in use! Since it actually effectively erases our access to decos (again some of which are purchased with real money) I think this should be a standard safety check for going forward.

Just bumping this up in case it got missed by the quality 'droids' on the forum before it got bumped down, and with Nightlife just around the corner. Emergency Monday fixity! :D Please fix it before folks start unlocking the new decos and the problem compounds.

I'm bumping this again because this is pretty important. I know you all have a lot to deal with all the time and you're probably understaffed but this affects something people have paid real money for. That should make it a pretty high priority.

Let us know you're aware of it please?

Hello everyone! I wanted to give a quick update on this. We're investigating the issues with the Weequay Patron and the Rodian Patron as well as some other decorations exhibiting the same behavior. The difficulty so far is that everything is looking correct internally, despite the issue being very apparent on our live servers. We're still looking into what's making this happen and I'll update you all when I have more information to share!

Change the names on the new decos coming out. Change the names of the existing decorations that already have the same name. That's all you have to do. That's how you fix the problem. It's how you fixed it in the past (with the Security Monitor and Luxury Sconce decorations; you changed the names of all decos involved, and now they all can be looked up as intended). This really shouldn't be that hard for you to figure out or take months and years of head-scratching to correct.

Still nothing happened, the Weequay Patron and Rodian Patron (Female) still have the same name from both sources, bug still persists, and I bet it will get more messy to fix the longer it takes (what happens to decorations already purchased but not used once you decide to change the name of those from one source?).

I guess, as others called it, the years long head-scratching begins...

(Not to mention fraudulent behavior for reseting things that specifically could be bought previously for money.)

Real world money has been spent guys. Come on.

That's happened in the past. Permanent changes were made to the game where real money was used. People are always buying cartel coins and cartel market items and selling them on the GTN for credits and using those credits to pay for crafting upgrades, decos, you name it. When they rearranged the crafting a few years back some characters lost huge crafting chucks of skills paid for with credits that were paid with cartel coins.

The shear number of bugs over a year old and some dating back to launch is staggering. The odds of this getting a fix in the next 3 years are slim to none. Move on guys.

Look up Conquest Chance Cube thread. Eric replied in that one that a fix was coming soon. I believe that's well over a year now. :(

You've missed the point of this thread. People bought a pack from the cartel market specifically for it containing the Weequay Patron and the Rhodian Patron (female) both being really good decorations for some stronghold themes. The Casino event has a vendor selling a new Weequay Patron and a new Rhodian Patron (female). All four have completely different looks and animations (the cartel market versions are dancers). Unfortunately, the oversight by the devs, most likely from using the same name for both types of personnel, has led to one overwriting the other, so the ones bought from the CM packs have disappeared. As there have been no updates on a fix (only an ages old acknowledgement that they are "investigating") stronghold decorators (myself included) are understandably annoyed, especially as this error was reported long before the event went live.

They knew about the bug, so they should not have allowed both types of decorations to go live before being fixed. Generally, they fix problems associated with items sold for real money on the CM very quickly. In this case either they have no idea what the problem is and how to fix it OR they have completely forgotten about this bug report.

I had 2 of the original Rhodian Patrons and 2 of the original Weequay Patrons, both of which have now been over-written by one each of the Casino versions. If they cannot fix the problem they really should refund the pro-rata cost of the ones we bought with Cartel Market coins.

You've missed the point of this thread.

You've run into a bug or oversight. CHECK

Real world money was lost purchasing items that are now affected by this bug. CHECK

You want it fixed asap. CHECK

I get it. My post still stands. I bought the same pack. I've got the same problem. People have been out RL money for decisions/errors made by BW in the past. In other words, this isn't the first time. Those errors/bugs/decisions still exist today. I wish you the best of luck getting this fixed anytime soon.

I'd rather they sort this out so I can have my original Weequay & Rodian decorations available. They should not be messing with items people bought with actual money as oppose to virtual in-game credits. At the very least I would like to see an acknowledgement that they are actually working on the error.

The reason I quoted you is that you mentioned the chance cube for conquest mission. That is a completely different scenario and most likely became a stealth change rather than a bug. All of the bugs that related to cartel market purchases have been acknowledged and fixed very quickly. It seems odd that this one is being ignored.

I'm going to try a ticket to see if they are doing something about it.

This seems like the same problem that existed with the Network Security Monitor before they were renamed Rakata Security Monitor and Gormak Security Monitor with update 5.3. The (Rakata) Network Security Monitor was released with the Architect's Pack on 4 November 2014. Update 5.3 was on 11 July 2017. If precedent holds true then we should expect to see this fixed sometime in 2022.

The true mystery is why it take three years to rename a decoration.

They're not joking -- This duplicate name issue has happened at least 3 times before that I know of.

To put this in perspective, there has not been a single release of new decorations from any source (event, cartel market, etc.) in the last year that did not have multiple bugs.

Please put more time and effort into bug fixes until the number of bugs coming out is less than the number being fixed.

I got a reply to my ticket about the issue in less than 24hrs. Without giving away confidential info, this was the response:

Looks like a fix may be coming sooner than we thought :)

I hate to burst yoru bubble, but just because they are "aware of the issue" does not mean it will be fixed any time soon. There are numerous issues they've been "aware of" for ages, with no fix forthcoming.

It's depressing that this is still broken. Please, for the below decorations please just rename all of the decorations involved (or if you only have to rename one then just rename the one that's needed) so that decos are no longer overwriting each other.

Rodian Patron (Female) - Duplicates from the Nightlife event and the Underworld Patrons Personnel Bundle (real money!)

Weequay Patron - Duplicates from the Nightlife event and the Underworld Patrons Personnel Bundle (real money!)

Stoneray - Duplicates from the pet (Blood Hunt FP) and the deco from the Exotic Creatures Personnel bundle (real money!)

Iknayid - Duplicates from the pet (Eternal Championship) and the deco from the Exotic Creatures Personnel bundle (real money!)

Hanging Vines - Duplicates from the Felucia Stato vendor deco and the deco that drops from the Nathema flashpoint.

Please don't devote too much time to head-scratching about why a more complex fix isn't working, when just renaming the decos has proved in the past to solve the problem. Hopefully it will solve the problem still!

Also, as I mentioned in my post that started this thread, I think it would be prudent for the team of decos designers to please do a safety check in future before releasing a new deco to determine if the name is already in use. The decos I called out in the list above are just those that remain unfixed, but this problem has happened multiple times in the past.

I was able to identify the problem with the duplicate names in less than two seconds flat, because I found it as I was entering the name of the new Nightlife decos into my spreadsheet. The beauty of spreadsheets is that they start to autofill what you're typing if it appears to be a duplicate of something that has been entered previously in your table, and that's how I was instantly alerted that I was typing in a duplicate. If the team doesn't already have a spreadsheet database (I know that working with coding databases is a totally different beast), I would be more than happy to create an unlocked duplicate of my spreadsheet shared to the team so that they can copy it over into something internal for their own use. Just send me a PM, I would be delighted if my obsession could be a time-saving help.

I loved all the new Nightlife decorations. In fact, I've loved all the decorations that have come out over the last year; there's been a lot of TLC put into some of the designs, and there's been a large quantity of them and a nice variety. Decos as rewards for in game events are especially awesome.

I hugely appreciate the work of the team in giving us new decos, so please keep them coming, just... please also do standard quality checks on something as basic as naming conventions. The less unnecessary aggravation you create in your players, the more quick they'll be to spend money on the next batch of decos without fear that they're going to lose access to them over something silly like this.

It's more depressing that they can't be bothered to give an updated announcement or acknowledgement of this. In a time when some of us are considering whether to continue paying a sub, this is a huge factor against SWTOR for me at the moment. Decorating is one of the things I really enjoy about the game, but the failure to ACKNOWLEDGE the issue is still ongoing and whether or not there is likely to be fix is annoying (especially after they went on for ages about listening to feedback earlier this year).

There is a solution. If you deploy all Rodian Patron (Female) from Nar Shaddaa and CHANGE "Show available" You can deploy Rodian Patron from cartel market... :)

Can anyone else confirm this? And does it work for the nightlife Weequays?

I can confirm that work around. I just dropped an army of Rodian and Weequay Patrons into an unused SH. I traveled back to the SH that I am currently working on to test this. I tried going to the Show All and Show Unlocked drop downs with no results except for the Nightlife versions. I then tried searching with the same results. As soon as I switched to Show Available in the drop down they both appeared immediately.

I know its a necro post, but this is a great post! Just bought the Underworld Patrons Bundle and these two were missing. Go to Show Available , under All, showed these patrons using the filter.
