Not sure to use Intel or AMD

Thinking about building a new PC and went shopping around which was probably a mistake because it opened up alot of questions for me. I haven't built a PC in a while but still remember the basics, the rest is in the manuals. I have always built Intel based PC's, never AMD. However, this last search I found that AMD is very afordable and it looks like they might be a better buy for the buck, however, I don't know how they will work performance wise with games and everyday tasks. I was looking at the 8 core A79-8150 which is suppose to be a 3.6 speed for 200 bucks. When I look at intel, a 6 core at also 3.6 is almost 700 bucks. I know that Intel has the name but if we where to compare cpu's, which one is better for gaming? which one is better for every day processess?

On similar grounds, I normally buy intel mother boards and was that many people where purchasing the asus sabertooth 990 FX to with that chipset. The last time I had an asus board I almost threw the computer out the window. Has asus gotten better?

Thanks in advance for any input you guys can give me.
