Jedi sage quest and illigitimate children

Jedi aren't supposed to have committed relationships, but it seems to be fairly common and possibly encouraged for them to reproduce. Malak addresses this specifically in the KotOR comic series. People are aware that Force-sensitivity seems to run in genetic lines, and that Jedi parents tend to produce Force-sensitive children. Grand Master Satele Shan is a direct descendant of Bastila Shan and (Darth) Revan of KotOR.

I also think of it as being similar to the situation of other demographics who were expected to refrain from marrying in earth history. If you read contemporary diaries and fiction from the European Middle Ages, or feudal Japan, or places of the sort, people knew that Catholic priests and Buddhist monks were forbidden from marrying or having sexual relationships, but the fact that they often did so regardless was treated with a sort of blase, matter-of-fact acceptance.

Marriage was not completely forbidden in the Jedi... just highly discouraged due to it's tendency to disrupt a Jedi's ability to maintain emotional control. It had to be approved by the Jedi council.

There were no rules about sex and children. If Jedi beget force-sensitive children, their children are raised communally by the Jedi order once born.
