Please nerf 2 of the new space missions.

Thanium Disrutption (and its Imperial Equivalent)

Thanium DIsruption needs to be nerfed REALLY hard, as I suspect it is not possible to complete without the new gear, and I'm not even sure how you could complete it with it, but I know it's been done. The mines need to not have shields, or else there need to be like half as many, there are so many of them and they fire so quickly that it is impossible to dodge enough fire to survive.

New Cov Ice Field (and whatever its imperial equivalent is)

I've probably attempted this one 15 times, and I can complete every objective consistently (including the bonuses) except for one: destroying the damn satellite. I know it can be done, even with the old gear (well, if you have the new power conversion module) but the problem is that you literally have to do it completely perfectly in order to succeed. I've gotten it down to like 5% of its health or less half a dozen times, and it's so frustrating, because I can feel the fighters flying around it laughing at me as I fly away defeated.

The chief problem I see is that there are WAY too many shield satellites protecting it, and you absolutely have to destroy all of them on the first pass or it is impossible or virtually impossible to do enough damage on the second, third (this isn't really a pass, it's just the few seconds you get when you're chasing the Sith guy around the ice block, but its something) and fourth passes to destroy it.

The second pass and fourth pass are by far the most important, since you get the longest amount of time to fire at it during them, but if you don't destroy every last shield projector on the first pass, you have to waste precious seconds destroying that one you missed on the second pass before you can attack the satellite, making it impossible to destroy before the end of the mission.

I propose that either A. (this is my preferred solution) the number of shield satellites surrounding the station be reduced, maybe even by as much as half, and the station's health slightly reduced, so that it is still difficult to destroy the station, but not too difficult if you do it correctly.

B. The station's health is massively reduced, due to the several factors which reduce the damage you can do to it: these include the sheer number of shields protecting it, fighters flying around it and redirecting one or two of your missiles away from the station (which was obviously an intentional design decision, particularly on the fourth pass where they literally swarm around it and ignore you to shield it from harm) , and the distraction of things shooting at you.

C. You are allowed to fire proton torpedoes at it.

I've managed to complete every other heroic space mission besides these two, and though some of them did take me a couple attempts, they are quite difficult, but not unreasonably difficult.

Im sorry you are having so much trouble with them, but I hope they will not be nerfed. I was able to complete both of them with the new power converter for 300k after completely learning what to do in those space missions to succeed. At this point there are guides out that you can read to help you figure out what to do.

There will be some people that can do them in grade 6 gear, some in grade 7 gear. The gear is meant to make the content easier, and is suggested for it. I love the challenge in these fights, more challenging then 95% of the other content these days.

No, no, no. They do not need to be nerfed. None of the new space missions are even remotely hard once you get the hang of them. This is a textbook example of what's wrong in MMOs: some people don't get something in the first week, thus it's too difficult and should be made easier. Nevermind the fact that thousands of people enjoy the "challenge" of slightly harder missions. Nevermind that lots (read most people) of players have cleared them all (and on multiple characters).

Something that's "hard" gives you more satisfaction when completed. Put on the big boy/girl pants and practice. Don't ask for a nerf to the new missions a week into them because you can't get them down yet.

I'm afraid I can't agree.

With a full set of grade 7 gear, the only one I find to be interesting is Thaniun Disruption. To me, it was simply a matter of learning the new flight patterns (which from my point of view was true of all the space missions the first time through) in addition to the upgraded tier of gear. I fear that makes me sound like some sort of self-congratulating space elitist... I'll say that I'm one of the small minority who enjoys the space missions for what they are.

I gave the new missions a try as soon as I could using just my grade 6 stuff. I managed to complete Regnant and Hypori Escort. Moving on, I found the others more challenging with grade 6 stuff (better to say too challenging) and ran off and bought the grade 7 stuff from the GTN/Daily Vendor. After that - again, learning the patterns made the difference. Thanium in particular seems to love throwing you into seemingly impossible-to-pass-through-safely patterns of rocks. Once you get it down, it's nice to collect those rewards for a sub-four minute mission. (This of course assumes the resets work - I've not managed to figure when these reset - I was under the impression a new daily would appear each day with a "weekly" on Sunday but that's another discussion...)

I now have 4 characters with a full set of grade 7s (still have a 5th set to buy for my final 50) and frankly enjoyed the new missions - the old ones had become so stale, that even as a space enthusiast I had given up on running them save during the leveling process. I've set a long term goal of working to complete them all using just the grade 6 gear. For now, I think there's one bonus I've not unlocked the codex entry for.

And for anyone who has completed all the new missions with just grade 6 gear - a big hat tip! I think I'm pretty good at space (the one area I AM good at lol) but I admit I've a ways to go before I can claim that Top Pilot honor.

This. People complained sooooo much about its so easy and missions are a cake and now they are too hard? LOL

Finally knocked out the last few space missions this morning. As to the above complaint:

New Cov Ice Field...you've actually said in your post how to do it. Getting the shield generators on Pass 1 is much easier if you remember that you can target things that are "invisible"--you can start hitting those things from waaay out, including nabbing two that are blocked by ice (right hand side). Blow those up before they are visible to you (before you hook around that ice). Then just unload your new, upgraded, more powerful missiles at the thing on the other two good looks you get. I can't tell from your post if you are fully upgraded or not...I agree that you basically must, 100% must, have the new missiles to take this one down. Maybe with pitch perfect play you could use the old ones, but certainly nothing less than perfection will do the job. This was the first space mission I successfully cleared.

Thanium Disruption...just cleared this morning. Dodge through first minefield, use EWP as main field starts firing on you, then when you are in range of frigate blow EMP and dump missiles. Field blown to pieces, frigate toasted. Switch to shield mode to get yourself back on your feet and then get ready for fast missile-n-gun games with the two other ships. It's all piloting and dumping missiles in 4s from that point on...this board is fast so re-running is not bad.

I just beat Thanium Disruption on about my tenth try. Man, that is one hell of a ride. Like a poster said above, you must blow your Jammer when the mines open up on you. Personally, I waited until they killed my shield to use it. Then, use your EMP when the Jam wears off. You should be in range of the frigate. Unload on the frigate with everything you have, it should be weak enough to kill later or killed outright.

Now, the hard part. When you're ripping through the asteroids, don't perform a roll when you have a tight window approaching. Stay the course, even if it means taking a hit or two. The key is to unload your missiles on one ship at a time, and use all four at once. You'll have four ships shooting at you, you must thin their numbers fast if you want to survive. Prioritize one ship at a time to eliminate, and don't get distracted by the other ships shooting at you. You should ride 95% of the time with power to shields, except for a few small windows where you have a clear shot for a few seconds. Then, switch to lasers and let 'em have it. When the window closes, back to shields and missiles.

If you didn't kill the frigate earlier, you get one last shot at him from the stern. Use any remaining missiles to take out what's left (prioritizing the bridge) and throw caution to the wind and switch to lasers. I killed the ship as it was accelerating away, I had a handful of missiles left, and a littler sliver of health.

I bought one of the Grade 7 bundles with my cartel coins, and the rest at bargain prices from the GTN. I wouldn't recommend trying this mission with anything less than the best parts available.

Good luck! Really, if I can do it, you can do it.

LOL. I just have to laugh at some of these n00bs. Talking all big & mocking the guy who asked for it to be nerfed. Like flying in a forced, preset pattern, where every enemy behaves exactly the same every time, & using a "formula", so to speak, to beat a mission is challenging. Get real. Edited by DeadCenter
