I get to repeat myself again for someone that doesn't want to read or think critically. You've had 6 months, you paid for content that you got access to and you did get access to it and will continue to. They get their $10 back because it would be a bait and switch for EA/Bioware to make it free when you just purchased it. You're not getting a title as compensation, you got RotHC as compensation for your $10. You get a title because they appreciate you playing the game they worked on, which you must have because you clearly have the expansion and are still paying a subscription. Correct?

I was never given a choice in the matter. THAT is the difference. Had it been announced back when pre-orders were being taken that they would be offering it for free in 9 months I would have at least had the choice to spend my ten dollars then, or suffer and not enjoy the content until it was made available for free.

ALL of us who purchased this believed that would always be the only way to enjoy that content... by buying it. Now I'm being told that's not the case. That is where the flaw in your argument resides.

Furthermore, now that it is available for free my $10 did not just go towards me enjoying the content. EVERYONE who purchased the expansion has now paid for it to be available for free to people who never intended on buying it ever.

Whether you realize it or not, that is a socialist game model. It will not be able to sustain itself. Now when the next expansion comes out a vastly less number of people will buy it because they know they will just get it for free in under a year.

I'd be happy with 100 for each month I owned it...hell, I'd be happy with 500 or less...just more than nothing.

I agree. I mean, for a completionist like myself, I'll take the title. But, I wouldn't mind something else along with it, be it 500 CC, or 1050 CC. Or even a free Speeder, (That last one might be a bit much.)

I'm still waiting for a reason why you think that anyone who disagrees with you must work at Bioware......

Heres your reason. Why in the hell would the "Three" of you trouble yourselves with trying to put out the flames? Why set here and argue with people that feel unappreciated? Why take the abuse you direct at yourselves for acting like the Bioware Defence Team? Honeslty you 3, they have public relation people they pay weekly to lie to us, they don't need you 3 comming on here to antagonize their customers.

Nice, so now we only have to wait till f2p's get rise too, and then the game is ready for the next expansion with an increased level-cap =)

I'm kind of shocked they didn't just give it away to everyone. I guess they are looking for more subs but I doubt that this brings in much.

That's actually a really good point. The 50-55 content will have to be incorporated into the full game for free at some point , maybe it will happen a few days before the second expansion. Hmm , you gave me some hope there , well done.

I have to give it to bioware, your definitely doing your best to rid yourself of players that's been here since the start...

why august 11th? I'd like a name on who set that date.. why not from launch of the xpac? and give all who bought the xpac the title? more fair, we all spent the $10 (was no option too really if you wanted to play with your friends and whatnot was there.. besides quit, which some did) on it. I know they don't owe any one **** but then don't give anyone anything be the fair way to go about it. sure people would still be *****in but this is just another lovely slap in the face to a big crowd. I couldn't care less about a title nor cc's but a unfair treatment is a unfair treatment no matter how u try sugar coat it...

Whoa...wait a minute...is this accurate?! I thought we all received the 1050 coins...

Had to have bought after 8/11/2013 to now. Pretty unfair to the subs. I just resubed after year of not play and bought last Friday. At least I get the coins. I think the previous subbers who purchased it should get the coins as well.

Yep, I am. I also guarantee you I wouldn't be complaining tomorrow if they said they weren't doing it. Because I'm not entitled. Who's objective in your opinion then? The guy that thinks he deserves coins because someone else is getting them? The one getting the coins?

I'd probably say the Bioware and EA businessmen and lawyers who made this decision are the most objective. I just so happen to agree with them.

I'm just saying as someone getting the free content, you are not in the same boat as those who paid to support the expansion, and therefore, I don't know why you have such a strong opinion on the way those people should feel about it. If you had paid for the expansion, you would be in the same position, and thus would be considered objective when it comes to how someone in that position should feel.

It's also funny that you keep raging about entitlement, when you are the one receiving the free content that others paid to support. It's a bit like taxation. You are like the guy who didn't pay taxes, but benefits from taxes others paid and then complains that the people who did pay the taxes to his benefit should shut up and be happy with what they are paying and to stop being so entitled.

To comply with consumer protection statutes.

Find me someone that has waited 6 months of paying and playing that benefits from this with proof. If not your conjecture of having the option to not buy it is kind of a moot point. No one forced you to buy it, you bought it because you wanted the content. If you've played for the last 6 months then you got what you paid for.

Your $10 fee is solely to access the content at time of purchase. Not for anything else. You aren't paying for me, my subscription pays for me. My purchase of cartel coins also pays for me.

This isn't a socialist game model, there's no such thing. Where do you get t his "vastly less" amount some? Do you think EA's and Bioware's marketers and businessmen didn't consider this? Do you have a time machine? You're using hypothetical people and situations to strengthen your argument. You do realize this game is getting close to non-profitable for EA, right? Would you rather them do nothing and let it die or give out a $10(Which is like an hour of work) expansion from 6 months ago for free to people already paying?

I'm just saying as someone getting the free content, you are not in the same boat as those who paid to support the expansion, and therefore, I don't know why you have such a strong opinion on the way those people should feel about it. If you had paid for the expansion, you would be in the same position, and thus would be considered objective when it comes to how someone in that position should feel.

Why do you care if I'm getting something for free? Or is it that you care that someone is getting something you aren't/didn't get?

This isn't the first time an MMO has done this, this isn't my first MMO. Expansions are made cheaper/free to make way for a new content release(see: new expansion). This content will be obsolete in the coming months and I'll be level 55 and I WILL buy the new expansion on release if I'm still enjoying the game. What I won't do is complain 6 months from then if its free.

So everyone is objective in their own sense except who? The people that made this decision, they've run the numbers, they've probably done test groups, they know what they need to do to make this game stay profitable(something its had trouble keeping at).

Also how am I raging? I'm pretty coherent and leaving muh feelinz out of this.

I understand what they did, I just disagree with it. They decided to show their appreciation by giving a worthless title to some of the people who bought the expansion, and 1050 CCs to others. I think that they were wrong to do so, and as a result I am speaking out against it. That's all.

i'm glad you understand, and support your speaking out.:p

i get the impression 95% of people don't understand the what/why. and are only focusing on the "i want coins too"

i'll also pose the question of "if bioware gave everybody 1050 CC coins, what do the new purchases get to help offset their butt hurt?" (the butt hurt being that they didn't get to be lvl 55 for the last 5-6 months)

imo what bioware is doing is the least butt hurt option apart from doing nothing

(i.e. not making the expansion free at all )

TBH the only people I feel bad for are those that missed the cutoff date for the coins within a week. They must really feel bad, but if they extended it a week the people the week before that would feel bad too. So I suppose it has to be cut off somewhere.

Imagine if you purchased it 3:59pm GMT on august 11th, missed out on 1050 coins by 1 minute!

It would appear to be backwards logic you are using. Even from a financial standpoint. The sheer # of players who will benefit from these CCs is probably relatively low. How does an option that smacks the VAST majority of subscribers in the face, while rewarding a very small minority = the "least butt-hurt" option. Seriously, how many level 50 subs do you think there are? I can ALMOST guarantee that is a small small number. Those who bought RotHC in the last 30 days? Yep, another very small number.

i love how everybody is butt hurt about how not getting the 1050 CC that those who purchased it in the last 30 days and are entitled to a full refund or other equal value item because of consumer laws where bioware is based in

and arguing that 5 months of game time wasn't worth it.

seriously, send up a ticket to the devs, ask them to reset your account to the day before you purchase the expansion, once this is done (and proven please) i will personally give you 1050 cartel coins to relieve your butt hurtness :). hell i'll even toss in a free pet just to offset the trouble of having to contact the devs and have your account reset.

Thank you. I'll be honest (fair)...you deserve the full refund via coins..."I" don't. I've played through Makeb, done what I needed once and have never returned...I got some value for my purchase and have enjoyed being 55 since day 2 of early release. Although I feel as though I've received my $ worth, I think Bioware screwed up the PR end of this (again). If they're going to refund purchases via coins, they're fools to not include long term subs and early purchasers to some extent.

Have to say that I don't much like this one. I think it's generally wrong to reward people purely based on "Buy now!" principle, rather than those that have put a lot more money BEFORE that. Clearly Bioware doesn't care for the lasting memberships, but rather wants instant cash. Well I wish you good luck with that. I won't quit, but I'm sure some people will. It's not the first, nor the last bad decision that Bioware has made.

Outside of that, thanks for the title I guess..

so refunding a VERY VERY VERY small number of people their purchase is a worse financial option then refunding THOUSANDS of people who've had the game, enjoyed the game for several months and also letting them keep all the stuff they've accumulated in those several months?
