Do you think they'll realise they destroyed slicing and...

at least make it worthwhile to have? It's totally worthless now so I'm thinking I should drop it, but I'll be pi**ed if I drop it and then they change it again.

It didn't need changing. Sure it seemed OP now because people have levelled it way beyond their player level, but at higher player levels rare crafting mats will probably be making more credits. I hope all you whiners are happy now that slicers wont be buying your junk off the GTM anymore.

I dropped it. It doesn't really do anything now. Before it was just free money. Now, it's just throwing your money away. They should at least give it something. Slicing for missions makes sense, but those are the critical drops. There's nothing to do with it now.

Slicing's purpose was:

* To gather augments.

* To gather schematics and Mission Discoveries for other professions.

If you thought Slicing was just for "free money", then you were delusional.

Honestly, they could fix this entire debacle by deleting all current Slicing content, and then just make Slicing the gathering Profession for Cybertech. (Like Bioanalysis is for Biochem)

Here's what I have so far from Slicing, post update

Here are my results for the past 5 slicing missions:

Mission: Plug the Leak- Cost-1415c

Reward: Ancient small credit box- 1957c Companion-vette Net: +542c

Reward: Ancient small credit box- 1196c Companion-vette Net: -219c

Mission: Data Race- Cost-1485c

Reward: ancient small credit box-1554c- Companion-Quinn Net: +69c

Reward: ancient small credit box-1309c- Companion-Quinn Net: -176c

Mission: The Rly on the Wall- Cost1930c

Reward: Black Market medium credit case (Green)-1880c- Companion-2v-r8 Net: -50c

Total Net: 166c for 5 missions average of 33.2c per mission.

I do agree that having 300kc at lvl 20 was nuts, but currently it is nerf'd too hard.

You realize slicing is a gathering profession right?

Come back when youve gathered lockboxes and tell me your net losses.

It will be zero because gathering lockboxes is stilll 100% profit.

I disagree with this analysis very, very, very much. See, the missions you selected to compare were always the worst. Those are the ones that didn't net you any money (and sometimes lost) even before.

Try running comparisons with Automated Saboteur (3), Prince of Fools (3), Pointing Fingers (4), Careful What you Read (4), Fly in the Wall (5), Taking Back Control (5).

These are the missions that allowed everyone to rake in cash hand over foot. If you're going to run a comparison of how significant the slicing changes were, these are the missions you have to use to compare.

It only demonstrates the lack of professionalism among the developers, this was a knee jerk reaction that only caused more problems than it solved. As in, what is the point of lockboxes except to make money for the mission? Who would be dumb enought to implement a gathering system that loses resources (money/etc)?

Bizarre.
