seriously, what are you guys complaining about? that you had the best gear and now you dont so your sad? i grinded to get my pvp gear and augment it just the same as everyone else, and i find 2.0 quite enjoyable, the best update yet imo.

 

PvP gear should still be better than PvE gear while PvPing. That is logical and makes sense. If it should not then PvP gear should be removed. It is becoming more and more difficult for us supporters of bolster to make an argument.

 

I've been trying to support bolster, but not sure if I can any more. The fun part about MMO's and RPG is the progression. PvPers should have a clear advantage when entering a WZ, but not so much that others cannot compete.

 

However, I'm starting to draw a conclusion that this socialist view of making everyone the same is incorrect and consequential to the game.

PvP gear should beat PVE gear in WZs. As someone who does both, I actually have an advantage in the current set up. But there needs to be some incentive for pvp players. So what if they have more stats? You overcome. Its just like if I show up to a pve raid under geared, I either overcome it, or I go back and grind for more gear.

 

When I log onto the game not even sure what Ill think. Guess Im glad I spent my wz comms on 2 earrings that gave solid pve stats as well.

That is something I've been thinking as well. Applying the same logic - they can as good remove the pve gear too and make ppl wear only some decorative cartel market costumes. Then the progress even in ops and fp will solely depend on players' skills because it is also somehow unfair some guilds or even parties to have more pve progress, because they have better items than others.

That is my only beef with the bolster supporters... Gear was never really an issue in this game and now PvP is really ****ed up...

With no Expertise on War Hero / Elite War Hero, what's the point of bolstering Expertise? Why not remove that stat from the bolster entirely & lower the Expertise on Partisan & Conqueror to reflect the amount we truly gain over other players? Sounds like it would fix a lot of problems.

 

Bolster has caused more problems than fixed.

I had 2018 expertise on my Sorcerer now I have 750 out of wz, now in wz I have 1881 expertise. My companions that were in full wh are now down to like 250 expertise. what are you going to do to fix them? Edited by Sabmin

@blasterporrf, just no. you should not be having ot "forgo everything but story" to be able to enjoy pvp and not get destroyed, like how it was.i remember going for my WH while i had only the recruit gear, and no matter what i did, no amount of skill could get you that kill if they had even one grade better gear, because they were doing more damage, more heals, more of everything, so it was to the point where it was futile to even try, like they were talking about in their post. the only way ot get anything done was for several players to go after one that had better gear, and even then they didnt have too hard of a time tanking it if there was a semi competent healer on their team. so in short, they have done nothing to dedication, only raised the skill level of the game.

 

Sorry friend, but you don't have a clue. One gear level off was non-competitive? If you had put in the time, you could have had your EWH weapon at level 50, or EWH earpiece and implants - as soon as you dinged 50. Optimized WH was only a few points off of full EWH standard set. If you couldn't compete one gear level off, there is no help for you, and it comes as no surprise that you are a fan of this patch.

 

This "fix" didn't raise the skill level. What a completely ludicrous thing to say. It's a free pass to PVE'ers like yourself in your awesomesauce recruit gear, who didn't put in the time to excel in PVP while penalizing those that did. That's what it does.

Does bw even know what they are doing when it comes to PvP....these aren't minor failures these are MASSIVE. I'm not saying I can do a better job at it BUT....I'm not the one cashing in on this product neither! Get it together BW you are starting to become known for a company that every time a patch comes something drastic is going to break.......not good

I've been min-maxing my PvP gear as I go. So now all my gear just has an expertise mod here and an expertise enhancement there. I went from 2018 expertise to 993. And everyone is telling me it's better to just use my PvE gear now? And I'm still confused about my expertise crystals.

 

Does this follow ANY amount of logic?

What the ******* is bioware thinking? They asume we are all on pve servers? Bioware you do realize now that people who have more time to play than others aka the people who play swtor 24/7 will have full 55 pvp gear by now. They will 1 shot everyone in lvling zones. At least before due to the expt on Elite Warhero gear we had a chance vs them before. Now we just get 1 shot. Its an instant death. If you are going this route remove expt from ALL gear. Make expt ONLY apply in WZ it is the only fair thing to do! Edited by Zergnaut

My thought was that PvEers should have a chance to PvP. In my augmented WH gear I could compete in 10 mans etc. Anyone who walks into a WZ with no exp would just get rofl stomped no matter the skill level.

 

However, I am not liking the fact that in order to please a few they are hurting the many.

Not sure if that's a stupid april joke, but pvp is broken. Really broken. I had a bad feeling since PTS 900k hp. So, what do we have now? My noob scoundrel in full recruit has ~1500 cunning and ~1700 endurance. Expertise is ~1600. Seems ok untill you see the stats of 30's - more than 2.000 of all these stats. Huh? I'm afraid to visit 55's wzs already. So pvp in this game is lost for me. Wonder if it's another bw money-draining programm or they're kidding us or they're paniced and can't leave that state so they can' t do anything. :/

BW, why don't you just scrap the bolster system? Make a post saying it was a mistake and we will cut our losses by swallowing the lost worker hours the pvp team put into it and the hit to our reputation and just go forward with a clean slate. Sure you'd look bad but stringing the player base along and extending this fiasco with one workaround after another will make you look doubly worse in the long run.

 

This is similar to the flop with class balance in WoW 2.0 Burning Crusade, only everything was tilted towards PVP as part of their grand plan for arenas and PVE balance was screwed.

 

If I'm missing part of the picture here, please reply.

My biggest issue with the "solution", is that you have ruined my WH/EWH gear for any "open world" pvp. (I.E. the Gree event, or random killing flagged pubs in Black Hole or Illum.) But, if you PVP enough to get the new gears, you get an even bigger advantage over people who have not (due to the new gears being much higher level). As it stands, I would be better off with recruit gears for those occasions.

If you are going to get rid of expertise gear, than get rid of all of it, not just some of it. Let the "pvp" gear just be a separate progression of gear, with its own, unique (not re-colored), looks. So those that want to pvp can progress to higher tiers of gear, just like those that prefer PVE ops to progress. And those who like to do both, can do both, to mix and match stats or looks.

Making all PVP gear non-expertise would be the best solution, while still creating a competitive gear progression from 10 to 55 for those who prefer PVP.

So your answer is to remove the advantage i spent hundreds of hours working to have over scrubs with no/lesser gear?

Well i wont be paying you anymore if your are just going to socialize/obamatize pvp. Consider this sub cancelled.

 

You have till the end of the month to put back the advantage of working for gear. I dont play this game to be 'equal'. I play, and work, for many many hours to have better gear that gives me an advantage, and if you think im going to start that grind all over again with new pvp gear, with no regard for all the work i have put into me EWH set, you are mistaken.

The pvp changes are bunk, the devs are bunk this game will die soon becuase all the hardwortk and hours to gear up have become pointless, the story line is idiotic and not a continuance of the class story lines at all. STOP LYING TO YOUR PLAYERS, we pay money hard earned money to not get jerked around by some ******* in a cubical writing code to piss off the very people who provide them a paycheck. Its freaking woderfull to have an invised rog stun me and then kill me before the stun timer wears off. Its even better to have some idiot in armor 14 levels lower than me snipe and one hit me in pvp.

This game has become a fn joke!

You idiot devs better start giving a damn about your players fix the broken crap first and then work on what new releases you want. Damn why did city of heroes have to die!

I admit that I haven't read enough yet to fully understand the impact of the PvP gear changes. However, my perception is that 2.0 has just taken a big, steaming dump on me and my PvP bretheren.

 

I get that we want a system that shouldn't scare newcomers away; recruit gear and the periodic price downshift of battlemaster, war hero, etc. ensured that new players could get over the gear hump with a modest effort. What I don't get is that for existing pvpers WH and EWH has been taken away from us. I get that you want a new and better system with new gear. But ffs find a way to "grandfather" in exisiting players who earned what they have!

 

In the past, at least you could keep and use obsolete pvp gear; I saved all my BM mods for a future toon's pvp headstart. Now, it seems like my EWH will be useless in 55 pvp with no expertise stats.

That's fine. But now we need to put everyone who stuck with the WZ system back at square 1? I don't get it.

No. Just no. The cap is raised and new gear should be the goal now. Your EWH will and should be outdated. The same applies for PvEers. They need to grind a new set as well.

Inb4 bioware adds expertise into pre-2.0 pve gear and you have to do all the old and new operations in green gear to beeffective..

I just wanted to let all of you know that I have been reading over the thread and am continually passing the feedback and questions on to the combat team. Some of the confusion I am seeing is around the removal of Expertise from WH/EWH and its relation to PvE gear. I am working with those guys on getting some math around it all to hopefully clear some things up.

 

I won't have any new information today, I just wanted you folks to be aware that I am actively watching the thread and working with the Combat/PvP folks on getting answers to some of your questions.
