Wikis to collaborate on making the mission stories accessible to read & facilitate RP

I hope the wikis all work together and stop competing, unfortunately it seems money has started to enter the equation with people selling ads :( They are doing this, including some rather unethical big companies like ZAM which allows goldfarmer ads, and companies and individuals still are doing this despite the fact that fragmenting the community for profit not actually being very profitable, look at Wikia, it's a failure commercially - the only reason Jimmy Wales is rich is because of his speaking hires.

Personally I think http://www.evil-wizards.org/swtor-wiki -- http://www.torwiki.com -- http://tor.zam.com/wiki -- http://www.wikiswtor.com -- http://swtor.wikia.com ------ > to ------ > http://www.torwiki.org ideally, but other than them owning a more convenient domain name for people, the problem is the whole ownership thing and money being involved due to the owners running ads things are icky and conflicts of interest have started happening - people running many different websites don't really want what's best for the community.

I hope Bioware sets up an official wiki that is RP-friendly, please?

Some games do have multiple wikis. STO had two (one for RP bios and what not, and one as a database); WoW has at least two "official" ones (though Wowpedia is considered the official wiki by Blizzard, it seems), and some RP servers in WoW have their own wiki, stuff like that.

The thing I notice, though, is that a lot of those wikis (at least two of the links you posted - including the EvilWizard one, which is the one I use) have a problem with spambots, and LOTS of them.

Seems like everyone is pretty much going their own way still, no effort to work together whatsoever :(

People like to separate themselves in subgroups. I don't see what your Wiki makes it better than all the other projects out there (some of them have much more work done there, and look better).

I for example am a admin on the Englisch and German SWTOR Wiki on Wikia (see my signature), and have put much work into those project, see no reason to move, especially since both do well.

I don't own any of them, I'm not even an editor in any of them actually - I know it might seem alien to one way of looking at things for someone to actually want to help make things better and get people to work together without getting any gain out of it. :p

I don't use Wikia, the adverts on Wikia often have malware in them: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/archive/index.php/t-208266.html

It's a horrible website all round really and is the reason so much is deleted from Wikipedia even though it has theoretically unlimited space - because they encourage things to be put on Wikia instead! Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia owns Wikia as well, and lives rather a lavish lifestyle taking money from working as the founder of a charity while diverting as much things possible to Wikia to try gain ad money from it on the side...

I would also like if all the wikis would join each other, but some don't like Wikia, while others don't like Curse (where Wikiwtor is now), or what have you, there will be always separation.

One case equals often? Registered users on Wikia get far less advertising, and even then I think it is personalized ads (so not everyone gets the same).

I can understand that Wikipedia tries to stay focused, and don't want to be get lost in useless details. It's the same with Wookiepedia and a SWTOR Wiki, you could everything also into Wookieepedia, but that would make that wiki not any better (by the way Wookieepedia is also on Wikia, so I think it's nice to be on the same network as the big Star Wars wiki).
