Why doesnt bioware update the front page anymore?

I had to go to kotaku to find the SWTOR 2012 plans trailer they just showed at e3.

Last year they updated the site just after swtor was done with the intro cinematic.

There's a whole bunch of stuff. Technical issues, they want the video to be higher quality, the fact they lost a whole bunch of their staff members last week and that half of the rest are at E3 and have a lot of things to do. They'll update it soon, don't worry.

Cause it's easier to post it on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The website takes longer. Go into the HTML document, change everything, upload it on the server etc.

Maybe oldschool websites... but you know they have fancy new technology now that lets you update website on the fly!

The EA live press conference just finished like 1 minute ago. They probably have to wait until that is over.

The other thing is that SWTOR got about 4 minutes of time. There might be more stuff at E3 related to SWTOR that didn't make the main presentation (rightly, the main presentation is about actiony things that make for pretty pictures, their talking about social stuff was for franchises 10x the size of SWTOR).

They may also have all of their staff you know...watching their corporate overlords propaganda reel and they are just now free to update it. Need to pad that active viewers number somehow right? Ok I'm being slightly overblown, but it's not like anything they announced is coming tomorrow, so it doesn't really matter when it gets posted. And really, given the job they've been doing testing so far, it's probably for the best it's not coming tomorrow.

not that i care about some website update... id rather these guys be working on server transer testing anyway. BUT just to play devils advocate, there really is no excuse for the lack of followup from the BW community organizers on this. It's not like they didn't know it was coming and had something locked and loaded. Hell, the sims social people just posted their tie in with the simscity social announcement. so idk... seems like another (all be it simple) example of BW playing catch-up.

When you do update the site, be very, very, very very detailed. We've not a buncha newbs here y'know, we're your regular customers so don't treat us like we're newcomers to this MMO please, thank you very much. Go into depth with what you reveal to us, please.

Why is the official site always the last one to get updated? For anything?

It's called marketing. Outside of E3, presumably they enter into agreements with some of the sites that promote games where they give them the "exclusive" scoop on something. If they break that news first on this site, then the "exclusive" news, video, etc. isn't very exclusive. Is it really that big of a deal if some feature or content that is 2-4 months away from release is announced on another site a few hours or a day before?
