If you want a challenge, solo them. They are just about perfectly tuned for that. Also if your not in a group, you can't use the free healing, which makes them even harder.

I have solo'd labs and got the the last boss of the other but pathing of my companion made me give up. I'm sure it can be done though.

So thank you for the new solo flashpoints, they are great

had the same exact experience, and couldn't get the last boss.... yet, due to retarded companion pathing. but... since I got the boss to about 25% on my last try of the night... pretty sure I can get it.

I think also depending on what class you play and whether you go in with healing or tanking companion - can also make a difference.
