8-Man so much easier

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed, but why is it that 8-mans are significantly easier than 8-mans. Our guild can take the exact same group of 16 and split them into two 8-mans and do EV HM so much easier than the 16-man Normal Mode EV.

 

What gives? It makes me wonder what the point of doing the 16-man. Sure, you get more drops, but those drops are worse than the 8-man HM.

We ran 16 man last night without issue until the puzzle boss. Something had to be off with the spawns because it felt like nightmare mode +. Within 10 seconds of starting we had two spawns of elite mobs. By the time we had the bottom teir solved we had 9-12 elite mobs.

 

Like you, after about 6 failed attempts we split into two 8 man groups and had no issues. Puzzle boss was uber easy on 8 man.

 

We did run into issues again on SOA. We had several bugs there, most notably the random despawn and reset below 10%. We were trying to figure out if we caused this somehow. What we noticed was the tank would get him below the falling pillar and his shield would come down once. On the second pillar or third he was directly under it but the shield wouldn't go down and he would instead de-spawn and reset shortly after.

 

Frustrating to say the least. We would have cleared 16 man in about 2-3 hours without bugs.

On Normal Mode 16-man we had the same issues on the puzzle boss. It looks like it's a DPS check, but it's a lot higher than it is on 8-man HM. Gotta stay on top of interrupts on those adds so they don't activate their barrier shields and if the 2nd wave spawns before the first wave is down... you're in trouble.

 

Anni Droid is so easy on HM. You're only racing against his enrage timer but people aren't getting one-shot by his abilities.

 

Same with trash between Anni and Gharj... those giant probes are so easy, even on HM 8-man, but it's a tough fight on 16-mans.

 

It's like... really Bioware? Where is the proper scaling?
