Come on Bioware whats with you. This is all wrong you should be giving the free time to ALL the players who have been here since day one even if they haven't made it to 50 or legacy level 6!!!!! Very bad move i must say. Heck i remember leveling to 50 in 3 to 5 days in beta over and over. Just cuz you can level it doesn't make u a supporting customer!!! Disappointed very much!!!!

PS - yes i have 3 50s and got 30 days so i am not here cuz i didn't get the free time. I am here cuz this promotion is ridiculous and so wrong in my opinion!!!!!!! many people deserve it more that didn't get it.

I completely disagree. When you reward people, you reward them for some particular reason. You don't just give them stuff without their having earned it.

Remember: other than things to make up for problems, unexpected downtime, etc., they don't owe anybody any promotion, free time, etc. They are celebrating the Legacy patch by rewarding players who have achieved a legacy in the game. If you want to say this is the wrong move on their part, I'd ask you to provide some kind of logical reasoning as to why anyone is obligated to receive anything, and following on that, why everyone is obligated to receive it.

That's reasonable, but at the same time, as the one of the BW people put it in a Tweet earlier, they "had to draw the line somewhere."

Certainly not everyone plays the game 7 hours a day. Of course, that's not really necessary to meet the lvl 50 or legacy level 6 requirement... someone who averaged only 1 hour a day since launch should have that. In any case the point is, of course, that folks who don't have or choose to put their entire lives into the game shouldn't be excluded from this kind of reward.

So then, like he said, they had to draw the line somewhere. Figuring out precisely where that line ought to be is certainly not necessarily the easiest thing in the world. I think what they came up with is fairly reasonable, though.

See this is exactly what i was saying THIS customer deserves it PERIOD! I don't care what the argument you have is. But as the post above says there really isnt a way to regulate it. So in my opinion drop the promotion all together cuz many dedicated customers are getting the shaft.

So.. you don't care how reasonable anyone's argument is. You're right. We're wrong. K, got it.

But really, it's a reward for people who have achieved a certain Legacy level. This isn't Socialism, you don't get an A for effort. It's a reward. That simple.

Look at it this way:

BW is a company. They exist to make money. They make money by offering a product. Their responsibility is to offer a good and quality product, of course, and so things like offering free time to make up for problems with the product is somewhat of a responsibility.

They don't exist, however, to give things away. Now, as good business practice, they will from time to time. As especially good business practice, they will from time to time reward their loyal customers.

Now, why do they reward loyal customers? Notice that I didn't say they would do it to be nice. Rather, they do it as good business practice. There is some degree of kindness involved, certainly, but largely, the point is to inspire customer loyalty to continue to accomplish their purpose: to sell products and make money.

In this case, they are doing a number of things at once. The obvious thing is that they're offering a reward to loyal customers. What may be less obvious is that, by giving a certain amount of time to reach the promotion requirement, they are doing two things. Certainly they're extending that good business practice by trying to inspire loyalty in more of their customers, choosing to afford folks the opportunity to gain a reward when they otherwise may not have been able to. However, they're also] encouraging people to play more during this particular period of time.

This is a clever (good business decision) way of making all that more certain the servers are more populated during this period of time, thereby giving everyone a better experience and, for one thing, doing a nice thing of letting people have more fun, but for another, improving their product quality.

When you consider the business side of things, it makes perfect sense. It is a way to reward customers, gain business, and, this "deadline" promotion in particular, to improve their product.

ur right that was harsh but the reward is wrong. The reward for all this is in game hence all the legacy unlocks etc... Here good job take 15 dollars is not a good reward in my opinion.

If i joined the game last week and leveled to 50 do i deserve this reward? no in my opinion, i understand why they are doing it i am just saying they should rethink the reward its a bad business practice too cuz many loyal customers aren't getting it and what are they gonna do? Not resub!

I think anytime Bioware decides there is a reasonable achievement ingame worth awarding ANY player free time for attaining.. well, more power to em'. Seems like a mighty nice thing to do.

It does boggle my mind how they can't even be generous to us without someone griping about it.

i am done thanks for the insights Skolops its always good to get other opinions to make you rethink. I just think this is gunna be a bad move on their part. I love this game dearly and have been playing almost a year now (beta) and hate to see some good people leave over something trivial. In my opinion giving away free time was not the right move. We get rewarded IN GAME with gear pets etc... Edited by Daelars

For the 10000s time. People are griping not because they gave a reward to a subset of players. they are griping about the way they coined the group as "less valued customer" even if they played in beta and had been subscribed since day one.

It was and still is totally wrong.

I am expecting an appology for that within the next 33 days. That is the time till my game time expires and I for once am not going to resubscribe to a company that just told me to go hike because I am less loyal than some power leveling teenager with too much spare time at his hands.

If they rephrase to "hey, we want to reward level 50s for their incredible way they ignore RPing and the awesome skill at pushing the space bar through dialogues" or something without kicking other players in the shin, then go ahead. Make it free2play for level 50s for all I care.

They just should not insinuate their paying and most supportive customers are a marginal group Bioware/EA do not care about.

And as a side note: If that group is so incredibly small, as has been suggested by the level 50 hordes, why not just say: "Hey folks, we are sorry we overlooked you because there is just so very foew. Of course you are just as valued. Here is your 30 days."

Cheers

JP
