QOL Improvements - What does the community want to see?

There are quite a few things that would improve QoL. Since character recustomization is being implimented, this is the perfect time to consider adding the rest of the character creation options. Certain NPCs have things we can't choose. From unique head models (specifically on imperial officers, such as the planet quest ones on balmorra) to unique complexions (half-beards, thin mustaches, etc) to wrinkles. We need more options! (note that this applies almost completely to humans only).

 

 

Also, all of the lore states that the Emperor has BLACK eyes, not red. While minor, this should be made so in the game :)

 

 

We also need more warzones. Not just more areas, but more area types. While they have their minor differences, the fact is that 3/5 of the warzones are all Domination. Huttball is 1-flag CTF and Voidstar is Assault. We need a 2-flag CTF (our flag at the opposite team's base) and a classic TDM.

 

Additionally, when a character is in a conversation, the shadows on them appear as squares (exact pixels) instead of being smoothed like they are outside of a convo.

 

We also need more lightsaber colors like the Derelict Purple, simply different-hue white-core crystals.

 

Also, the Character Preview window uses low graphical settings regardless of what ones you have enabled in the game. It also has a single-color background instead of the cool tech-y background it had before.

 

Allow Cartel Market items to be vendored.

 

Fix the Inspect bug.

 

 

I know this has been requested numerous times but I'm getting sick of no bioware responses, and it certainly qualifies as QoL. PAZAAK. Tell us if it's ever going to be added or not.

I posted a thread about this, but the things I want are still not implemented so I'll repost it.

 

So with Makeb approaching I decided I'd make a post about several quality of life and convenience changes that should be added and my reasoning for doing so.

 

1. Ability to send at least 6 companions out on crew skills at 55. I understand the idea of leaving us at with at least one companion to quest with but with HK added we now have an extra body to use for various crew skills missions, it leaves me with an extra companion sitting around doing nothing. This should be implemented for players that are level 55 or a purchasable unlock for f2p.

 

2. Ability to dismiss/summon companions in combat. Let me preface by saying we should only be able to do this once while in combat, i.e. can only summon once or dismiss once, not both. This is mainly because if you send your companion out to sell trash items, when they are done, you can't summon them back while you're in combat, so if you want to keep going you have to pause rather then just keep going with your companion jumping right back in to battle when they return. Summon if our companion is gone and we get aggro and the ability to dismiss the companion in case they bug out (which they still do) and start fighting an enemy in the ground or nowhere on my screen that I can see.

 

3. Remove orbital stations entirely. This is just needless busy work, move the questgivers on orbital stations for the various planets (hoth, belsavis, voss, etc.) and just put them on the surface.

 

4. Allow us to enter phases in combat. We should have always been able to do this, I don't understand why we can't, we should be allowed to just run past the mobs in front and go directly in to our phases.

 

5. Remove the ability for players and monsters to knock you off your speeder. Again something that should have been done ages ago, the whole "excellent protection from being knocked off" hardly applies when a stiff breeze can knock you to the floor not to mention if you get knocked off your mount in combat your buffs are NOT applied to your companion when they appear. Again, when there are planets that have no clear path between objectives (voss and belsavis come to mind) we should be able to just run through without having to worry about getting knocked off our mount. On the subject of monsters:

 

6. Tone down/remove the ridiculous amount of enemy knockbacks (especially the knockbacks), stuns, and snares. Certain enemy types like nemesis, harbringers, anti armor sentries, flame infused, and pyromechs have a very large number of aoe knockbacks that severely hamper melee players but ranged players (especially ones using a melee tank companion) never have to worry about them ever if they play their class correctly. Rather then adding more give us mostly melee focused players a break by either A) removing them entirely (the best solution honestly) B) give them a long enough cast time so we can stun/interrupt or C) add resolve to PVE, i.e. once non-champion/boss monsters knockback/stun/snare you, you become entirely immune to them until you're out of combat with that monster.

 

7. More ship customization and in that sense I mean, if we have invested in the full level 7 ship upgrades, I would like the exterior of my ship to reflect that, heavier looking body, a little more bulky in appearance, larger guns, etc. A level 1 ship should look different to a level 3 or a level 5, etc.

 

While I could go on, the above are the changes I feel are most needed.

Good grief!! Legacy = Lazy!!!

 

No legacy datacrons!! For pete sake go get the things.. If you want the additional stats then earn them..

 

Can we please not use legacy as an excuse or reason to make this game any easier!!

 

:(

 

It's not making the game easier, you still have to do the work to get them in the first place, that should be enough.

It is making it easier as you don't have to do it for every character.. No that is not enough.. People should get them for every character..

 

What is next legacy leveling?? If you don't want to play the game on your alt then don't make an alt..

 

Doing something on your main shouldn't mean you don't have to do it on your alt as well.. :)

While I enjoy the Legacy system quite a bit, I think a few additions would be welcome by the community as a whole. It seems to be the most logical way to include most QOL improvements. In particular, altaholics like myself would find these changes to be extremely beneficial. At the end of this weekend, I should have a total of 6 max level characters.

 

I'm sure some of these suggestions have already been posted, but I'm not reading through all 11 pages during a double XP weekend!

  • Legacy Bank - credits shared across all characters
  • Legacy Inventory Slot - shared between all characters on in-game inventory screen
  • Legacy Cargo Bay - shared between all characers in ship's cargo hold
  • Legacy umbrella XP unlocks - similar to how the double XP weekends are implemented
  • Shared Legacy Progression - to include Social Points, Valor. Reputation already does this since 1.7 release
  • Shared Codex - Devs said it isn't happening, but I can still want it!
  • Legacy-wide Datacron unlock - this is especially tedious on your 3rd alt and later but a "no" according to Devs
  • More weapons and armors (including mods) become Bound to Legacy instead of BoP or BoE
  • Mounts & pets unlocked Legacy-wide with possibility of moods & emotes, as well
  • Customizable creation for weapons and color crystals, as well as color choice/dye for existing armors.
  • More faces, hairstyles, skin colors (ex. purple for Twi'leks), headbands (again for Twi'leks), etc. for creation/barber.
  • No more inactivity logout when actively using the GTN. I have all crafting skills maxed and trying to use the GTN while being placed AFK and subsequently logged out can be an annoyance.

 

Even without the inclusion of the Legacy bank, inventory slot, and cargo bay I would like to see the "postage" for inter-Legacy mail waived. It really begins to add up against your credits when you are sending items/credits to numerous alts.

Some more crafting related QoL improvements ...

 

Add the names of all the characters in our legacy to the recipient drop down in the compose mail GUI regardless of faction. Our friends and guild mates are added to this drop down but the people we mail the most (our own characters) are not. There is a partial workaround (friending our same-faction characters) but this is not available cross-faction so there is always the risk of a typo when mailing cross-faction.

 

Increase the stack size for resources (materials) to 999 or provide a legacy resource back similar to that in GW2: i.e. all resources automatically stored and accessible to all characters in our legacy. It should be something more akin to the shop GUI (i.e. a single entry per resource type with the total number available) than the existing cargo bay UI (i.e. one stack per slot in a grid). This would avoid constantly having to mail resources around your legacy. Incentive: this will leave more room in our cargo bays for opening CM packs.

 

Make all crafting to missions available once they have been unlocked. Crafters already have at least three workarounds to force a new list and (eventually) get the missions they want so presenting a random selection of five does nothing but irritate people (unnecessary hoop jumping). This detracts from the gaming experience and (depending on your preferred method) keeps crafters on their space ships and out of general population.

 

Legacy crew skills GUI: since the windows/apple/android app is presumably some way off at least let me monitor/control the crew skills of my legacy characters (cross faction) through a single GUI. This will avoid periodically having to interrupt our gameplay to go and set another round of G6 missions on each of crafting alts.

 

Option to turn off our Ship Droid random barks (i.e. fit a better restraining bolt) and an option to turn off the crew skill mission acceptance and completion barks. These are fine the first couple of time but are simply irritating once you've run the between your mail console and GTN console a few hundred times or performed a few thousand crew skill.

 

Make our crew learn from their previous reverse engineering attempts (see this post and this thread in general). It will only take 2 variable to increment the % for successive RE attempts on the same type of item and this could make a massive difference to how people fee about crafting.

Think most of these have already been listed but I'll add my 2 cents anyway :)

 

  • Chat bubbles (with a toggle for the haters).
  • The ability to sit other than on the floor - this should include all chairs, stools and benches.
  • Pazaak and/or other minigames in cantinas and casinos
  • Legacy/account cargo hold
  • Server transfers
  • Being able to inspect other characters reliably again (seems to work about 1 time in 100), and also the ability to inspect other companion characters
  • Being able to interact a bit more with our pets, for instance have them do the gathering instead of companions. I know they're described as "passively observing", but I would really like to be able to emote patting a pet and have it respond, or be able to teach them tricks.

 

Edit: thought of another one

 

  • Barber shop to allow us to age our characters, go bald, get wrinkles, add scars or tattoos.

There have been a variety of ideas posted, none of them bad. For me, however there are some particular points which I think would really make a difference to the Quality of Life.

 

My first wish would remove a need for many of the relogs needed complete basic admin tasks, or pass items around. This particularly applies to crafters, but certainly would make life easier for everyone.

 

Legacy Wide Bank

I have to say I'm pretty astonished this isn't already in the game, as account wide storage seems to be a staple of all other MMO I have played. Simply being able to store all crafting materials into one easy to access location would be a great improvement on quality of life - additionally being able to keep a central store of medpacks and other consumables will remove any need for switching about. As it stands, we can mail our items around the legacy, so this shouldn't be a game balance issue. Furthermore, it's a revenue stream for Bioware, selling increased shared storage via CC.

 

My second wish would be to address a social issue for guilds:

 

Cross Faction Functionality

The faction system is really a barrier to cross faction guilds, which I believe to be normal. We like to group with our friends if playing Republic or Imperial. Being unable to communicate across that divide reduces the social aspect of the game; whilst one can always log in a character of the other faction to see who is on, one can't see who has logged in, carry on conversation with friends playing on the opposite faction or generally interact as is normal with a guild. I would very much like to see the following:

  • Cross faction guild roster
  • Cross faction guild chat
  • Cross faction guild bank

 

Finally, I love Sunjammer's idea above for a legacy crew skills GUI. I'm not sure how that might affect the economy within the game, as it suddenly becomes much easier for everyone to churn their crafting activities, but it would certainly make life easier!

I'd also like the vendor interface to be redesigned, or at the very least have filtering options that are somewhat useful.

 

The small fixed window that requires an insane amount of scrolling up and down while you try to sort out what is what between the 3-4 sets of pvp/pve gear on sale for all the spec is a nightmare.

 

It'd help enormously if the window itself was simply made bigger and you'd be able to use a filter to sort stuff by sets.

I want to see my ping kept at sub 50 when I'm ripped from my server and stuffed alongside strangers.

I want to see Harbinger local players eat a 300ms handicap at all times to level the playing field (stolen from another poster)

I want to see the mmos I love not get screwed into the dirt. First wow, now this- and GW? it was never even a contender

Few observations from my few weeks here.

 

1. I'd like to be able to move the GUIs around the screen and have more than two open, it's very clunky the way it shuts one window closed when you open another. When I'm trying to add mods to my gear and trying to remember what is in what, I get terribly confused because I have to keep reopening my inventory, then back into the mod page ect. personal note: I haven't got a great memory.

 

2. Heroic mission NPC's should have a slightly different looking icon over their head.

 

3. The auction house isn't very user friendly, the search function at times seems a bit broken. I'd like to be able to just do an empty search and have everything on the entire thing show up so I can browse.

 

4. Some way of going directly to my ship. Also, by default there should be a post box on it, seems silly that I can't access my emails on my personal starship without a ridiculously expensive upgrade.

 

5. Personally, I'd prefer all caves were instanced for up to 4 people with scaling difficulty. Far two often I have people just slip streaming behind me and stealing objectives while I fight off the mobs protecting it. Enough for it to make me really mad. And having to fight your way back out of the cave because the mobs respawned is extremely annoying sometimes.

 

6. Phasing, after I have completed big missions where I blow up a place and kill the leader, it breaks immersion that when you get back outside it's like nothings happened. I imagine this would be rather complicated to do, but I've seen it in WoW and worked pretty well.

New Crafting Ability or Legacy Items

 

How many of you have run around low level areas and a item drops has been just what you are looking for, "THAT HELM IS UBER LOOOOOKING!!!, Damn, its green". So can we have a ability to RE Green into Orange and Mod-able OR!!! dare I say Cartel item that can do the job at a cost $ to allow use to have true flexibility on how we look.

 

 

Also, Yes stealing from the SWG but i would gladly grind for months all the Pets that was available and could be used like companions and yes it would have its own leveling Xp tree so not instantly lvl 50-55. a little more a Dev direction, but you would make a killing in Cartel if u was to have animal companions, hell even a new class to use them, i would be there!!! A uber rare animal pet companion was talked about for months when someone showed up on a SWG servers with it but everyone running around with Aric is boring.

That's the most important for me, and most awaited feature.

 

 

2) Emotes and moods as hot buttons

 

I would like this please :jawa_smile: :

 

- That the emotes and moods we buy at the cartel market be placed in a mood/emotes tab in the "P" menu (the one that has our abilities and skills) with their respective buttons that could be placed in a hotbar.

This would be a QOL since for example, I could use flourish in the middle of combat (or close, or at beginning) by hitting a hotkey instead of :

 

 

  • - opening chat
  • - typing /flourish
  • - +enter

 

 

3) Independant remapping of the space combat keys :

 

I would like to be able to remap spaceship keys independently of the ground combat key. As it stands and because of my ground combat setup am playing space combat and use shift-1 to shift-4 to use the PCM, EMP and EWP and can't use the arrow keys at all.

 

 

3) Legacy shared bank

 

Even without the "pick from bank" usage of materials for crafting.

 

 

4) GTN unit price sorting

 

Not sure it warrants an additional column, or more like a radio button on top of the existing price column. Or a button in option/preference menu to not clutter the GTN window.

 

 

5) Saving Keybind setup

 

Much like I'm able to call back a UI setup I saved, I'd like to be able to do the same for keybinding please.

 

 

6) OPTION TO MOVE AND RESIZE THE CENTER SCREEN RED AND YELLOW MESSAGES AS PART OF THE UI TWEAKING

 

SEE HOW IT'S ANNOYING TO HAVE CAPS MESSAGE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN LIKE THAT :jawa_wink: !

 

IT'S ESPECIALLY BLATANT IN SPACE MISSIONS WHEN I KILL A BUNCH OF FIGHTERS AND IT SEEMS MY WHOLE SCREEN IS CLUTTERED WITH THOSE BIG FAT-REAR MESSAGES THAT ACTUALLY HIDE ENEMIES BEHIND THEM.

 

OR MINE FIELDS... I HATE MINEFIELDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN I KILL THEM MINES :

7) Being able to target and shoot trough the quest log box

 

Speaking of space combat, if a ship appears behind the quest log counters, I can't target and shoot it until it has moved out of this portion of the screen.

 

 

8) Option to toggle off ground shakes

 

Makes me dizzy sometimes.

A frame to quickly see it like target of target

Right now this causes issues with lag on teamspeak or similar when raiding and doing Bonetrasher in KP

This is mostly for healers but also good for everyone else so we can still know who he is targeting when we are attacking adds.

This is already in game. You have to set one keybind to set focus target, and another to target focus targets target. Targeting page of the keybinds section of preferences.
