How do we fix PvP here?

I refuse to reroll but how the hell are Imps supposed to win. Im sick of the following:

Half the team leaving 30 seconds into the WZ

0-100 Coasts

Actually getting shut out in Hypergate

0-6 Huttballs

Pubs only blasting first droors in Voidstar and then refusing to access bridge just so they can camp us for the rest of their timer and then all of our timer

What can Bioware do to actually make PvP here balanced and not just lopsided farmfests. Been doing 15-20 WZs a day all week and still only have 3 wins. How can we force Imps to play better so we actually win?

Since Bioware can't actively force players to roll imp, and they can't just give the imp faction an buff, i would have to suggest grouping up and attempting to increase organization. The bads on pub side are just as bad as the bads on imp side. Today, I saw a sentinel that took 190k damage and did 19k damage as well as a shadow that simply walked behind a vanguard, said, "Hey, don't notice me" and proceeded to cap while the confused vanguard ran around.

Though there is a thread talking about imps on this forums, I find that it mainly boils down to pubs having more, quality premades than imps, and the queue system benefits groups of 4. So make some friends, hop in some voice comms and roll some pub!

I would have to agree with Mr. Vasyel here.

I thought Imps pvped like the scum of the earth, but what it came down to was that I was primarily solo q'ing. Been using "Imppvp" chat to form/join premades which has increased my winning by quite a bit. Even if we don't get into voice chat together, I can count on at least half my team being competent

Silly vanguards...

Edit: Add me as a friend and shoot me a whisper if you want to pvp. I'm always up for a few matches so let me know. I am working this week though, but I will be on next week for the most part.

Yeah, i feel like that would eventually lead to all the imps being on one side of he bridge, and all of the pubs on the other, but hey that's only logic....

Sorry I had it backwards they let us go right through the first doors without even attacking us and then camped us. They have figured out so many different ways to keep us rez camped I get them all confused sometimes.

If I'm doing regs chances are I'm solo queued and I do this everyday. I can tell you that Imps are no worst then pubs, I rarely see imps loose when its pug v pug. The issues is as others have said the republic run allot of premades and they are also on vent, mumble, ts whatever. Personally I prefer to solo for regs, I don't want to steam roll the other team and more often than not just want to run regs to screw around and relax.

Bioware shouldn't do anything. It's up to the player to get better.

Two things I notice:

1) Pubs form premades about 100x as often as imps. Something about socializing and getting organized in pvp that you imps just don't like - and you pay the price for it.

2) I'm sorry to say this because it's incredibly insulting, but it's also true - overall lack of skill/knowledge of the game. Don't get me wrong there are some good players on imp side, and bad players on pub side. But there's a noticeable lack of good dps, competent healers, and overall min/maxing of pvp stats. PVP STATS - Expertise is the most important stat for pvp, you need to get it as high as you can and THEN worry about your other stats. Seek knowledge about your class. Shin'arika has the most amazing shadow/sin videos out there, and there are plenty of guides to help you.

All in all its a lack of organization, and a lack of seriousness about PvP.

Hey I know how that is.. I am pvping on imp side too to help out with my premade. I like both factions. We did a pugged rank last night and went well:) info primarily play on the pub side because of Vasyel:p but mainly I got sick of healing baddies on imp side that don't support the healer. Pubs are better at supporting their healer. But anyways I will be on Barbiegirl or Sexygirl to help out:)

If trying to get people more aware, you're doing it wrong. 1220 seems to be the sweet spot for DPS.

If you want people to min-max better, they won't be sitting anywhere near the current expertise cap.

I have only rolled imp since early access. Imps were the best at pvp, then it shifted to reps and so on. Not to worried about, just play. I find the constant ************ and complaining about loosing more distracting and annoying than loosing a match.

So happy to see this. I created the Imppvp channel for this purpose to try and get some more organisation and socialising among the Imp PvP'rs and Guilds.

I'm glad you find it useful, and I'm sure I've teamed with you once or twice through it :D

Everyone always talks about this "sweetspot" and never puts up any evidence to back it up...

Fellow guidie said it best so I'll just copy and paste:

"Anecdotal evidence gets you nowhere in these discussions. "Sweet spots" and so on don't exist unless there's a real dropoff above that, which isn't true for expertise.

http://i396.photobucket.com/albums/pp45/Antimony_photo/2500RatingBenefit.png

The curves don't magically drop off above 1250, they don't even drop off at unattainable numbers.

I've run the numbers, and the long and short of it is this:

If you want to hit the largest possible numbers on someone ELSE in low expertise gear, wear ~1100 expertise yourself. You'll get the most damage output this way, by a small margin (an ~1100 expertise player hits another ~1100 expertise player harder than a ~1400 expertise player hits an ~1100 expertise player).

The difference comes in when you're fighting ~1100 expertise vs. ~1400 expertise. The 1400 expertise person will ALWAYS hit the 1100 expertise person harder than the 1100 expertise person will hit back, 100% guaranteed. The 1100 expertise person will have slightly more health and slightly lower mitigation, and slightly more effective health.

This is where it gets interesting, because in an actual 1v1 between these two characters the 1100 expertise player would win due to the HP being a bigger boost than the mitigation in EHP, if zero healing occurs during the fight (also assuming zero damage multipliers from abilities, which isn't ever true and actually swings the fight in favor of the high expertise player in pretty much every imaginable situation).

If a healer is involved or the players can heal themselves, the mitigation quickly overtakes the max HP in terms of EHP for the fight (the number is below 1000 total healing done). An exaggerated example would be two DPS's hammering on each other with one healer healing each one. The higher expertise DPS would win in this scenario (it would take forever) because his EHP with healing factored in is higher. Some classes do healing in terms of their max hp (as do medpacks), in which case having the slightly higher max HP would cause them to do more healing, but in none of the calcs I performed did the small amount of healing gained outweigh the mitigation in terms of EHP for the entire fight.

TL;DR: Get max expertise if you want to win. If you want pretty numbers against scrubs, use PvE armorings and power crystals. "

I suspect the reason people think they don't need max expertise is because they're fighting the ignorant masses who also don't max expertise.

Too bad the only thing going on in that channel is PJB and Anna'ka going at it constantly..

The problem with pvp from my perspective is, although we do have a lot of "low intelligent PUGs" on our side, most of the time your going against a premade or a dual premade that is filled with fully decked out FOTM classes. Not to mention the attitudes of a couple of the republic guilds on this server just makes pvp terrible.. You shouldn't feel like your the best on the server if all you do is farm people..

Well what else is there to do? Ranked is dead and imps can't get their sh*t together...

I have been back for a little over a month now; when I returned, I noticed a significant amount of former imps were gone, as well as many whom rerolled to Pub side. My buddies and I decided to reroll as imps (am formerly pub), I have two 50s now and am fluent in the current gameplay of imp puged WZs. There have always been bads in the game and there always will be, more often then not, people complaining about bads tend to be worse themselves.

Currently I am still working on gear, i have nearly eliminated all the recruit on my Sniper and still have a ways to go on my Jug. Things I notice on a daily basis in PuG WZs: No one wants to defend, No one calls, No one responds to call, 5 teamates can be fighting two guys and have no thought pass their mind as to "hows the other door?".

My tank atm has 17k health, yeah i know its terrible, anyway, when I play my Jug, all i do is control, cc around my healers, guard swap, taunt, you know, tank stuff. These PuG healers have no clue how to kite or LoS, I die for these dum-dums and get no recognition, they dont heal their tank. Any way, at least when I am on my sniper, i can still dish out some hell when fighting a double premade in a huttball etc. On my jug, all i can do is go for the ball, maybe get lucky while running. It is really depressing being the only one on the ball all game,,, I understand objective sucks when the team is bad, but how do people get better if no one teaches.

I talk in ops to get people involved in the match, the only others to respond are the loosers saying "you all suck" but tend to do worse then half the team. I often messege people who I notice that are trying (when it is imp v imp). I give them tips on how to fight my class, how to LoS, and how to be profeccient with their CC. People tend to be gratful by this help so i continue to do so.

Yes I have a HUGE epeen, I just like to keep it in my pants. There is an imppvp channel previously mentioned, it is always the same group in there, not many people talk. When I frequently ask, "anyone lfg?', or "DPS lfg", and get no responce, i get the feeling not many know about it. To join the channel type : /cjoin imppvp.

Thanks for reading my paragraphs!!!!

Actually, your wrong, ranked is not dead. Combatmedic is doing a great service with the PuG ranked groups that have been going on. Ilye has been trying to get a similar thing going here on the imp side, but there isn't much interest. Last night we had an imp pug team running, I had alot of fun.
