Welcome to The BattleZone! While you wait for the last match to be called, I thought that I would post this demo match to test how well a 4-way match-up would do. So without further ado, enjoy Exar Kun vs. Darth Traya vs. Darth Malgus vs. Darth Vader!

Character Bios:

Exar Kun:

The greatest student of legendary Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas, Exar Kun rose to prominence thousands of years before the Battle of Yavin. An overwhelming thirst for knowledge that was forbidden to him led Kun on a search that spanned the galaxy. Under the guidance of the spirit of Freedon Nadd, Exar Kun traveled to Dxun, Korriban, and Yavin IV before finally turning to the Dark Side and annihilating Freedon Nadd.

In an attempt to crush any who could threaten his power, Exar Kun traveled to the Empress Teta system in search of Ulic Qel-Droma and Aleema Keto. Aleema, he dispatched with ease, with Ulic he engaged in a duel. Their brief duel was interrupted by a gathering of ancient Sith Spirits, who dubbed them Dark Lords of the Sith, Kun as the master, and Ulic as the apprentice.

Together they brought terrible war to the galaxy, striking even at the heart of the Republic itself. On Coruscant, Exar Kun personally murdered the Supreme Chancellor and Vodo-Siosk Baas. A turning point in the war came when Ulic Qel-Droma was finally bested on Ossus. Qel-Droma turned against Kun and directed the Republic military and the Jedi to Yavin IV. Once there, the Jedi Order imprisoned Exar Kun on the planet using a massive Wall of Light. Exar Kun had been defeated, his spirit trapped for thousands of years.

Kun’s spirit would be awakened when Luke Skywalker established his Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV. Exar Kun terrorized the academy, even temporarily putting Luke Skywalker out of commission. However, the Jedi students fought back, and Kun was finally destroyed.

Darth Traya:

Only decades after the fall of Exar Kun, Darth Traya maneuvered herself onto the galactic stage as the leader of the Sith Triumvirate, a collection of the fragments of Darth Revan’s Sith Empire headed by three impossibly powerful individuals. Darth Traya was the clear master, with Darths Sion and Nihilus serving as her students. But their alliance of hatred was fragile, and Sion and Nihilus betrayed her, stripping her of her power and casting her into exile.

Driven by revenge on all who betrayed her, Traya sought the perfect tool to execute her revenge: a lonely Jedi Exile traveling the galaxy since after the Mandalorian Wars. Manipulating her and her crew, Traya orchestrated events that culminated in the Battle of Telos-where Nihilus was finally killed-and the Exile’s attack on Malachor V.

On Malachor V, the Jedi Exile redeemed Sion and finally confronted Traya at the Trayus Core. After a battle of the era’s titans, Traya was finally defeated.

Darth Malgus:

Centuries after the destruction of the Sith Triumvirate, Darth Malgus rose to prominence as one of the true Sith Empire’s mightiest warriors. When the Sith Empire attacked the Republic, Malgus was one of its most esteemed military commanders, displaying tactical ingenuity and dominating the battlefield.

Malgus’ crowning achievement as a member of the Sith Empire was the Sacking of Coruscant. Malgus personally stormed the Jedi Temple and cut down several Jedi alongside many Sith Warriors. When the Sith Emperor bargained for peace, Malgus was utterly shocked. His belief in the cleansing of the Republic quickly expanded to a cleansing of the Sith Empire as well.

Thus, Malgus betrayed the Sith Empire after the war with the Republic resumed. He had gathered an army of aliens, like-minded Sith, and many scientific geniuses to aid his cause. But his revolution ended as quickly as it began, and Malgus was slain above Ilum.

Darth Vader:

Former Jedi hero Anakin Skywalker was recruited into the Sith on the eve of Darth Sidious’ victory and the fulfillment of Darth Bane’s vision. Dubbed Darth Vader, the former Jedi led the sacking of the Jedi Temple with the infamous 501st Clone Trooper Legion at his back. After destroying the Separatist Council, Vader dueled his former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar. After a lengthy duel, Vader was defeated and left for dead.

Vader survived the ordeal, but he was forced to be confined in a black suit of armor to survive. Vader would quickly adapt to his cumbersome suit and become the most feared man in the galaxy. When the Rebel Alliance became a threat to the Emperor’s designs, Darth Vader led a bloody campaign against them with the infamous Death Squadron at his command. However, Vader had other goals in mind, namely his hunt for his son Luke Skywalker. The Emperor’s plans would lead to the Battle of Endor. A final duel with his son would result in Vader finally being defeated, but not killed at his son’s hands. Instead, Luke rejected the Dark Side, prompting the Emperor’s wrath. In his final decision, Vader turned on the Emperor and killed him before dying from wounds suffered from the Emperor’s lightning.

Lightsaber Skill:

Exar Kun:

Instructed by the legendary Vodo-Siosk Baas, Exar Kun was easily the Krevaaki’s greatest student. He was a master of the sixth Form of lightsaber combat, Niman, normally the Form of Moderation, but not in Kun’s case. Exar Kun advanced the style and transformed it into a highly aggressive and relentless fighting style. In addition to his mastery of Niman, Exar Kun developed his skill in Ataru and Juyo, blending all three styles together into a fighting style based on speed, aggression, and unpredictability that could overwhelm even the best of his time.

To increase his deadliness, Exar Kun fashioned a unique double-bladed lightsaber. The weapon was capable of producing two blades, but appeared to only be a standard single hilt. It also included a dual-phase function that he could activate to lengthen or shorten the blades at will, increasing his unpredictability as a fighter.

Darth Traya:

Darth Traya was a proficient user of Makashi and Soresu. She was a skilled warrior, apparently the match of even the best of the Echani. Most remarkable was her ability to recognize the fighting styles of opponents and take note of their weaknesses.

Traya was also skilled in telekinetic lightsaber combat, using the Force to wield three lightsabers simultaneously.

Darth Malgus:

Darth Malgus was a practitioner of Shien, an offensive lightsaber form that took advantage of Malgus' physical strength. His offense was very strong, and his defense was just as great, both fueled by his rage. He also implemented acrobatic attacks into his offensive, but these acrobatics were minimalistic, designed primarily to increase the momentum of his blows.

During the assault on Korriban, Darth Malgus also showed a proficiency in Jar'Kai dual-wielding; using his lightsaber and his master's to cut down Kao Cen Darach in a brutal overwhelming offensive.

Darth Vader:

Even before becoming a Sith Lord, Vader had defeated many of the greatest duelists of his era, including the likes of Asajj Ventress and Count Dooku. He had developed a mastery of Form V, which he used with reckless abandon at most times.

His internment in his iconic body armor forced Vader to rebuild his fighting style from the ground up. His primary fighting style remained Form V, but he incorporated the strengths of all seven Forms into his fighting style. What resulted was a fighting style with no real flaws. The only flaws Vader had were in his suit, which severely hampered his mobility and made him vulnerable to faster and more agile opponents.

To counter this weakness, Vader built a formidable defense, biding time until the opportunity to attack presented itself. He had little difficulty simply stonewalling opponents and turning the tables with a flick of his wrist. Vader has only been defeated when severely outnumbered or simply outmatched.

Edge: Something very clear from a first glance is that any edge in this area is going to come down to Exar Kun and Darth Vader. Neither Traya nor Malgus have the same broad mastery or sophistication that Vader and Kun have developed in their fighting styles. I have always found a comparison between the two difficult, but, for the sake of the analysis, I will attempt to call an edge.

The most important factor in a comparison between the two is how broad their mastery actually is. Exar Kun’s mastery encompasses Ataru, Juyo, and a complete mastery of Niman. On the other hand, Vader is an absolute master of Form V, and has incorporated the strengths of the other Forms into his style. Both have created a style designed to be without weakness, but Vader has perfected his style to compensate for his own physical weaknesses. However, Exar Kun does have a broader mastery of lightsaber combat, but something can be said for Vader’s perfected fighting style. In the end, Exar Kun gets the edge, but only by the slightest of margins.

Physicality:

Exar Kun:

Exar Kun is a human male in his physical prime. Aside from incredible physical strength, there is nothing noteworthy about his physical capabilities.

Darth Traya:

Darth Traya is an elderly woman in her fifties. Despite her age, she is still physically capable. Most notably was her speed, which allowed her to dodge lightsaber strikes from trained warriors.

Darth Malgus:

Darth Malgus is a human male approaching his sixties. However, age has had no impact on his abilities. He remains very strong and tough. His durability is immense. During the Battle of Alderaan, Satele Shan used the Force to crush him under rubble. Before receiving medical attention he went out and killed two Jedi, one of whom had crushed him under more rubble.

His strength is beyond impressive, showing the ability to crush his enemies with his bare hands.

Darth Vader:

The injuries he suffered on Mustafar forced Vader to live in a life-support suit that acted like a suit of armor. Cybernetic enhancements increased his strength and durability immensely. He was capable of crushing opponents with his bare hands.

More impressively, however, was his durability. He has been shot, torched by a flamethrower, buried alive for days, stabbed, suffered amputations, and even survived immediate proximity to massive explosions. Despite suffering grievous injury, he has continued to fight on. He has literally walked off a lightsaber through the chest.

Though it brought about several advantages, the suit also hampered his mobility severely. Despite this, Vader has moved with blinding speed and kept up with incredibly fast and agile opponents.

Edge: The physical edge comes down to Vader and Malgus. Both have shown intense durability and strength, yet Malgus has displayed more agility. However, in combat, agile opponents rarely get the leg-up on Vader, and Vader has even displayed a capability for intense speed and agility as well. What this edge actually comes down to is ability to survive punishment. In this regard, Vader can simply take more punishment than Malgus can. He has a higher pain threshold than Malgus does. Darth Vader gets the physical edge.

Mentality:

Exar Kun:

Exar Kun was an arrogant Sith Lord, but he did not let this cloud his judgment. He was a capable planner and manipulator, and was a capable user of the Dun Moch tactic of psychological warfare.

Darth Traya:

Darth Traya was a master manipulator, viewing the galaxy as a dejarik board. She manipulated pieces to move them into the right place at the right time. She manipulated all those that she encountered, turning them into tools to further her own cause. She was also a masterful user of Dun Moch.

Darth Malgus:

Darth Malgus was an excellent tactician in his own right, but this trait didn't necessarily impact his in combat tactics. While Malgus had a great sense of his surroundings, he often displayed a tunnel vision when engaged in one-on-one combat. He was often completely and utterly focused on his target, which served as an advantage and a disadvantage. His complete focus allowed him to react to his enemy's movements, but it could leave him partially unaware of his surroundings.

Darth Vader:

A tactical genius, Vader has learned from the mistakes of his past and the examples of his masters. Like Obi-Wan Kenobi said, “A fight is never a goal in itself. Sometimes it is simply a distraction-from the true goal-and best countered with a larger distraction.” Vader was an expert in misdirection, distraction, and playing his opponents against each other. He has little difficulty simply outwitting his opponents and taking advantage of their weaknesses.

In addition to his tactical prowess, Vader was a master of the Sith Dun Moch tactic, a weapon he honed to perfection.

Edge: Due to the circumstances of this match-up, there is more to be considered than simply tactical mindset and psychological warfare. Most important is the ability to play opponents against each other and easily navigate such conditions through tactical guile. In this sense, Vader is the more qualified. Vader has been severely outnumbered by opposing Force users on several occasions. He knows how to deal with these kinds of situations. Taking this, and everything else, into account, Vader gets the edge.

Force Abilities:

Exar Kun:

A student of the ancient secrets of the Dark Side, Exar Kun was an undisputed master of the Dark Side. He has fully mastered many of the most esoteric and ancient abilities of the Dark Side.

Kun had little difficulty using the Force to rip through an opponent’s Force Barrier to assault them with telekinetic waves. Most notably, he outright killed the ancient Jedi Master Odan-Urr with the Force. Kun was also adept at using the Force to heal himself of serious injury near instantly through the power of the Dark Side.

Exar Kun’s true mastery lies in the realm of Sith Sorcery and Magic. He was a master of Sith Alchemy, allowing him to create massive Sith War Beasts bound to his will. His most notable ability was his mastery of the Force Blast. With this ability he could unleash absolute devastation to utterly destroy anything in his path. The magnitude of this ability was dependant on Kun’s needs at the moment. When his Blasts were uncontrolled outbursts of raw Dark Side energy, he could absolutely obliterate the surrounding area. His controlled attacks were far more precise. He can use them to destroy opponents with ease. He has even used Sith Spells to accomplish various tasks. He has used these spells to induce a mass Force Stun over countless individuals, and even used a Mind Control spell on the Supreme Chancellor.

Even as a Sith Spirit, Exar Kun was capable of unleashing devastating power. His Force lightning was strong enough to incapacitate opponents to the point that no Force abilities or medicines could revive them. He was even able to drive Luke Skywalker’s spirit out of his body, rendering him comatose.

Darth Traya:

Darth Traya was an incredibly powerful Sith Lord, mastering fully many powerful and dangerous abilities.

Her mastery of telekinesis was incredible. She had little difficulty ripping through the Force Barriers of opponents to telekinetically assault them with Force Waves, Force Chokes, and even Force Crush.

She was a master of the powerful Force Drain ability, which she used to completely drain three Jedi High Council members of their energy, killing them instantly. Her abilities with stealth were beyond impressive. She could use the Force to disappear from sight and cloud the minds of others of her presence, even Jedi Council members. She has even used the Force to instantly kill several individuals without even raising a finger.

Her telepathic abilities were profound. On several occasions she has used the Force to reach out to others from across the galaxy to communicate with them. She has used telepathy to mentally assault others and use Drain Knowledge. She was even noted as being capable of wiping the memories of Jedi.

Most notably were her impressive healing abilities. She has used the Force to revive others from near-death. She has even been able to heal herself of wounds that would kill most Jedi.

Darth Malgus:

After the Sacking of Coruscant, Darth Malgus achieved a state of Oneness with the dark side of the Force. In this state, Malgus felt unstoppable. His power in the Dark Side was great, and he had unlocked many abilities through it.

Darth Malgus was capable of producing powerful Force lightning that could rip through the defenses of other Force users and kill them. He was powerful enough in this ability to summon Force Maelstrom's, a deadly combination of protection bubble, telekinesis, and Force lightning.

Darth Malgus could use the standard telekinetic abilities of the dark side such as Force grip and Force crush. He was also capable of lifting and hurling large objects with the Force. His abilities with telekinesis were such that he could perform small Force Waves with only a small gesture.

In addition to these advanced abilities, Darth Malgus could also perform the rudimentary abilities in the Force. He was capable of increasing his physical capabilities to move at increased speeds, leap great distances, and boost his physical strength. Darth Malgus also fed his power in the Dark Side by focusing on his emotions, particularly anger and hatred for others.

Darth Vader:

The Chosen One of Legend, Darth Vader was an incredibly powerful Sith Lord. Though he lost the ability to reach his full potential, he remained incredibly powerful.

A telekinetic savant, Darth Vader had little difficulty moving objects of varying size and ripping through the Force Barriers of opponents. He has used the Force to move incredibly large objects such as mobile starfighters with little difficulty. He has used powerful Force Pushes, Chokes, and Crushes to rip through the Force Barriers of opposing Force users to telekinetically assault and kill them. He has even used telekinesis in the midst of lightsaber combat to hurl objects at his opponent, sometimes in the middle of his lightsaber sequences.

Force Rage was also a prominent ability in his arsenal. Through pure rage and strength in the Dark Side, Vader has suffered through immense injury. After being buried alive for several days, Vader remarked to Palpatine that the Dark Side was all that he needed. In addition to durability, Vader’s rage has greatly enhanced his strength.

Vader was also a master of defensive applications of the Force. He could summon powerful Force Barriers that could defend against physical attacks and deflect blaster bolts. Vader was also a master of Tutaminis, capable of absorbing and deflecting blaster bolts with his bare hands.

Edge: Once again, this comes down to Exar Kun and Darth Vader. Malgus and Traya are certainly quite powerful and can hold their own in this field, but they have not matched the absolute devastation Kun and Vader have unleashed with absolute ease. Much like the lightsaber skill category, I find giving an edge to either individual to be difficult, but like the lightsaber skill category, I will attempt to call an edge.

As usual, combative applications of the Force are the most important factor in this kind of decision. Exar Kun and Darth Vader are very close in terms of raw power, but Vader does have a greater affinity for combative applications of the Force. He has consistently displayed the ability to attack opponents with telekinesis or a hail of thrown objects while also engaging them in lightsaber combat. On the other hand, Exar Kun’s usage of the Force in the heat of battle are rare.

On the principle that, when strength is too close to call so combative applications take precedence, Vader gets the edge, even though Kun’s knowledge of the Force exceeds Vader’s.

Thoughts: Congratulations go to those that read the whole thing. If you did, would you like to see more of these kinds of matches, as well as 2v2s? Post your suggestions here.

So who will win? Who is truly superior?

Ok, first, yes I read the whole thing

Second, I feel that Traya's abilities are being completely ignored here. Vader may be a tactical genius, but I feel Traya is the better manipulator by far. Her ability to disappear means she can simply wait for the two most powerful opponents to be killed, then finish off the third.

In any scenario, I expect Vader, Malgus, and Kun to brawl in the middle. Traya can skirt on the outside but she wont confront any of them. From the side she can slowly wear her opponents down, while said opponents are occupied with the other two.

Beni had a similar complaint with one of my little projects a while back. The fact is that there is little to support a tactical know-how when it comes to combat. Granted that can be blamed on her being a game character, but I have to go with the facts. Being a good manipulator of galactic affairs does not make her a combat tactician.

Simple.

Canon sources say that any battle she participates in happens by her command, and she's got the whole thing mapped in her mind at the start. That, and #Shatterpoint :p

Not really something that can be applied, considering that they've all been dropped in with no pre-prep.

If Vader gets hit with any significant amounts of lightning he loses. Malgus and Kun can use it, and they will be the ones primarily fighting him.

You sure? I mean, he can go through quite a bit of damage. And by 'quite a bit' I mean a lot.

If they're dumb enough to forget about her. :p

Not a matter of being Dumb.

Just in mid combat, meaning lower mental defences, and her just walking through their mind defenses doing as she pleases.

She can affect Vader and Kun's minds to help Malgus dominate, make it so Malgus is the last one standing, strip him of his force powers via force drain and impale him...

I'll say it now, Malgus gets Force Drained from the start/early on by Traya. He has shown no ability/knowledge in defending against that attack. Kun should know how to defend against it considering his knowledge and he has used it(though it wasn't in combat, I don't think he would use it here anyhow seeing as it's pretty useless for this). Vader should be fine too, considering he can resist it.

I really just see this coming down to Vader vs Kun, in which considering Vader's style + his durability/strength + force combat application + his knowledge of fighting against a double bladed saber(Maul clone). Kun isn't bringing in anything that Vader hasn't dealt with before, apart from Force Blasts however Vader has shown great speed and he could avoid those or he could probably just tank them.

But no. Traya's tactical, if she's smart, which she is, she'll play it like this.

Stealth out, conceal herself using their own minds.

She'll use her power transfer abilities to feed the Force into Malgus, fuel him, heal any wounds, but still leave him wounded at the end.

He'll win with this support, then she force drains him and annihilates him.

Why would Traya use Force Drain right off the start? This would force her into a confrontation with the other two and she would ultimately lose. Rather, she would hide while the three others wore at each other. One would survive, though exhausted, then Traya could fight them at full strength.

Because Traya has shown the ability to empower others?.....Where? Healing his wounds isn't gonna work because in order for her to do that, she would have to reveal herself. Plus I don't recall her healing someone from being stabbed in the heart, or beheaded something which can happen during the fight.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the other three shrugging their shoulders and going at each other while Traya just up and disappears on them.

Why not?

She makes herself small in their minds, they're in combat so her job gets easier.

She doesn't neccessarily HAVE to start.

Hell, she could feign death, go into her sith trance, heal herself, then pop out.

Kotor Campaign guide.

She wouldn't need to reveal herself.

And perhaps not beheading, but she's healed grevious death wounds before.

Ok I assume you are talking about, Revitalize right? Because looking at the guide, her power list doesn't show her to have that ability. (Unless it's in another guide.)

Even then the ability only lists to dealing with wounds, exhaustion or unconsciousness.

It's not listed she has that ability and even if she does, that isn't gonna help when a death blow comes upon Malgus and yeah she may bring him back but why? More to that, why would she even help him anyway? This is a 4 way fight and I don't think Malgus would take her help anyhow, they are all fighting against eachother. Plus she is really gonna waste time with helping Malgus out during all this? I don't think so.
